Alicia Keys Finally Dropped Her Skincare Routine - Her Secret to Clear Skin? Sulfur!
It's difficult to ignore how radiant Alicia Keys's skin is pretty much 24/7. As a special gift for the New Year, the "Raise a Man" singer did us all a favor and dropped her nighttime skin routine, which includes her secret for fighting off blemishes - finally. In a video shared to her YouTube channel on Monday, Keys walked us step-by-step through the routine, and it was basically the equivalent of creating her own personal spa experience.
After lighting a candle and making sure she had a big mason jar full of water on hand, Keys started winding down for the evening by using her Osmosis Deep Clean Detox Cleanser ($21) and Advanced SkinCare's Anti-Blemish Lotion With Sulfur - the secret to her clear skin. "It's like when you're driving down the highway and you smell that egg smell and everybody in the car is like, 'Oh, who farted?' That's sulfur . . . Sulfur is the bomb," Keys said. Watch the full video here to see what Keys recommended for getting rid of the eggy smell and what other useful tips she has for treating your skin well.

Get a Glimpse Under the Mandalorian's Helmet With These Pictures of Pedro Pascal
If you're a fan of Disney+'s The Mandalorian, you're probably still trying to catch your breath after seeing actor Pedro Pascal's face be revealed in the season one finale. Pretty famously, the show's titular reticent bounty hunter doesn't take off his helmet for a variety of slightly mysterious reasons, so we've had to make do with photos of Pascal's handsome face. (Though that's far from a hardship for any of us.)
Pascal's face is definitely a familiar one, thanks to his breakout role in Game of Thrones as Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne and his time on Netflix's Narcos. Keep scrolling ahead to see what our favorite Mandalorian looks like without his famous helmet on - and sans a lot of blood. Here's hoping we'll be seeing a lot more of Pascal's face in The Mandalorian season two!

I've Wrestled With Mom Guilt Since I Took a Pregnancy Test, but I Won't Let It Control Me
I never knew I could be so excited about peeing on a stick, but there I was, shaking so badly I almost missed. My husband and I had been trying to conceive for nearly four years, and the next few minutes would reveal whether I'd spend the evening toasting to a new adventure or silently resenting the obnoxiously cute baby pictures flooding my Facebook feed . . . again.
When the double lines appeared, I fell to my knees and ugly cried tears of joy. My brain started working overtime recalling all of the cute and clever pregnancy reveal ideas I'd tucked away for the time when it was finally my turn. And then, nine months too early, it hit. Hadn't I just downed half a roll of raw cookie dough? Did that workout class last night leave this tiny embryo inside of me clinging on for dear life? Mom guilt hijacked my blissful moment, and it didn't let go.
Google went from being my best friend to my worst enemy. I became painfully aware of potential risks from innocent activities like taking a bath or forgetting to take my prenatal vitamins. Every time I fell short, I wondered if I'd just made a choice that would affect my baby for the rest of his life. It was getting harder to enjoy the miracle of pregnancy I had anticipated for so long, and I knew it was time to make a shift that would restore my hope for finding joy in motherhood.
Talking with other moms-to-be helped me learn to give myself a break as I realized that I would never hold another woman to the impossible standards of pregnant living that I'd felt so much shame in failing to achieve. I proudly banned the word "should" from my vocabulary, and replaced the occasional Google search with a gut check, relearning to trust my intuition and silence the constant catastrophizing that had taken root.
Wrestling with mom guilt is still a daily struggle as my son hits his toddler years, but the "what ifs" look different now. What if I'm giving him too much screen time? Will he end up battling ADHD because I just couldn't bring myself to turn off Mickey Mouse Clubhouse during those burnt-out moments? Am I taking enough time out of each day to teach him new skills, or is he going to be a college student whose mom still ties his shoes? And that. Dang. Pacifier.
Coping with creeping mom guilt has meant incorporating self-compassion into my life. For every failure I find myself dwelling on, I fight back by listing off successful mothering moments in my head or in a journal. On the hardest days, those moments may be as simple as feeding and bathing and hugging my babies, and that's okay. I say "I'm sorry" when I screw up and commit to forgiving myself with the same admirable, no-strings-attached attitude my son forgives me with. Mom guilt hasn't stopped trying to take the reins, but it no longer wields the power to rob me of the simple joy and fulfillment motherhood has to offer.

I Haven't Been to a Gym All Year - Instead, I Work Out at Home With These 8 Products
I've never considered myself an avid workout person, but the last couple years, I've gotten a lot more into my fitness routine. I started by attending various gyms, but I always found them too expensive or far away from my house. Then I switched my focus to classes, which I still absolutely love, but they can be expensive when going several days a week. I finally decided to cancel my gym membership once and for all and work out at home instead. I love learning new things in classes and with instructors, then trying them on my own later.
The key to getting the right workout, though, involves a couple products. I invested in a few things, like a comfortable workout mat and even a stationary bike, but the amount of money it's saved me in the long run has been worth every penny. So if you're also trying to exercise more at home, I've shared a couple of my favorite items ahead that can help you, too. Keep reading to shop them all and see which ones fit your routine.
The Pros and Cons of a Natural and an Epidural Birth, From Someone Who's Done Both
I've Googled the phrase "epidural vs. natural childbirth" so many times that the letters on my keyboard have practically worn off. I couldn't read enough stories, binge enough YouTube videos, or skim through enough books to ease my anxiety about either decision. Knowledge is power, but an endless stream of unique experiences and anonymous mommy-shaming made it tricky to find the right fit. Now - after opting into an epidural for my first delivery and experiencing a natural delivery for the birth of my second - I know what path I'll take with my third, and weighing these factors helped me get there.
What are the pros of having an epidural?
Some of the best parts of my epidural delivery were totally textbook, but others were less expected and more than I could have hoped for.
- The pain management was practically magic: This is the moment that I fell in love with my anesthesiologist. The intense pain of laboring melted away after about three contractions, and my body felt totally and evenly relaxed. I still felt just enough pressure to know when I was experiencing a contraction, which was a game changer when it came to pushing.
- The catheter was . . . nice: Said no one ever about a catheter, so of course it sounds like I'm kidding. I'm not. It was the first time in nearly nine months that I didn't have to pee, and it was pure bliss.
- I hardly felt the needle: I know, they look terrifying. Perhaps the pain of the shot paled in comparison to the intensity of my contractions, so that's why I hardly noticed it, but it was a welcome surprise.
- I could bond more immediately with my baby: Once our son was in my arms, it all felt over for me. The midwife and nurses carried on with stitching my second-degree tear and pressing on my stomach, all while my husband and I gushed over this tiny person we made. My physical numbness freed me to focus everything I had on our little boy.
What are the cons of getting an epidural?
I seemed to fly under the radar of nearly every potential risk of an epidural. It was administered evenly, I had no residual headache or spinal soreness, and my beautiful baby was alert and happy; but nothing is perfect.
- Epidurals wear off . . . and it freaking hurts: After an hour or two, my body became well aware of everything it had just been through as I weaned off of the medication. It sucked to feel my pain increasing after the long journey of delivery seemed like it should be over.
- The recovery was more difficult: The physical trauma to my nether regions in the days following delivery was substantially more distracting than with my natural delivery, and made everything from rolling over in bed to going to the bathroom a bit more difficult.
- Sometimes laboring felt boring: I went from feeling like an active participant with my baby to more of a bystander as my numb body and my baby did the work. It put a damper on the excitement I thought I'd experience when laboring, and seemed to drag on for ages.
What are the pros of a natural labor?
My expectations for the benefits of natural labor were low as labor drew closer. I knew I wanted to try it at least once, but I wasn't prepared for how deeply the experience would impact the rest of my life.
- The sense of unity and intensity in the room felt like a Hallmark movie: My natural labor took every ounce of emotional, mental, and physical energy I had, and plenty that I didn't have. Every support person and staff member in the room lent all of themselves to helping me carry on, which left me feeling uniquely connected to everyone that was part of our daughter's birth.
- The fight made me stronger: You know that crazy story you just know you'll want to tell everyone for the rest of your life? For me, this is that story. Every excruciating contraction and body-splitting burst of pain culminated in one of the most mentally, emotionally, and spiritually paramount experiences of my life. I came away feeling so much more empowered to handle whatever life throws my way.
- I feel uniquely bonded to my daughter: Rather than feeling like a bystander in the laboring process, I felt like my baby and I were in the fight to bring her into the world together, and I can't help but think of that feat of teamwork each time I look at her.
- The recovery was a breeze: Hours after delivery, I felt ready to Forrest Gump my way across the country (more or less). Despite the same tear I experienced with my epidural delivery, walking, standing, sitting, and rolling over were next to effortless.
What are the cons of a natural labor?
Beyond the obvious, laboring naturally presented some unique challenges in the dynamic between focusing on my baby and simply making it through.
- "I can't do this" played on repeat in my head: The mental and emotional toll of knowing another painful contraction was just around the corner seemed daunting and insurmountable, leading me in and out of hopelessness throughout my labor. Not fun.
- I was more focused on making the pain stop than meeting my baby: It felt like I'd entered survival mode, and all that mattered was getting it over with. The feelings of anticipation and excitement I experienced while awaiting my first baby were buried beneath a mountain of expletives.
- I wasn't able to bond with my baby right away: I wanted to gush and kiss my baby and cry those big ugly tears of joy when they put her on my chest, but some hazy state of shock and shaking stole the show for about 10 minutes after the final push, and I could hardly hold on to my slippery newborn.
As my husband and I rev up for baby number three, I'm leaning towards delivering my future mini-me with the help of an epidural. I cherish my experience with natural delivery more than any other singular experience in my life, and wouldn't take it back for all of the chocolate and bacon in the world (which is how you know I'm serious). But really what I've discovered is that there's no wrong answer. You have to choose what makes the most sense for you, your baby, and your body. In the end, pain management made it easier for me to keep the focus of my labor and delivery on meeting and getting to know my former tenant, and for me, that priority wins the day.

14 Underrated Netflix Shows That Deserve Way More Attention Than They're Getting
Netflix churns out new original series so fast, we can barely keep up with them all, and we're not afraid to admit that not all of them are winners. (Sorry, Netflix. We love you, but surely you know this to be true.) So how are we supposed to know the great series from the ho-hum ones? Of course, there are the dozens of Netflix shows that people can't stop talking about, but there are also plenty that have flown under the radar in 2019, and we're here to make sure they get the viewership they deserve. From underrated series that returned this year to brand-new ones that just made their debut, here are the shows that haven't gotten all of the attention they deserve.
I Can't Stop Jamming to This Jazzy, Gatsby-Style Cover of Lizzo's "Juice"
If Lizzo lived back in the 1920s, what would her song "Juice" sound like? A musical group called Postmodern Jukebox tackles that exact question in one of their latest covers, transforming Lizzo's famous track into a completely different hit you'd likely hear at one of Jay Gatsby's wild parties. Lead vocalist Mario Jose starts the cover slow and solely accompanied by a piano, but then the pace picks up a jazzy notch once musicians playing guitar, clarinet, trombone, bass, and drums chime in.
Postmodern Jukebox have earned quite the dedicated following in recent years for giving modern-day songs - from Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River" to Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" - an old-timey flair, and we'd wager to say the group's vintage take on Lizzo is some of their finest work. Listen to the glorious performance above, then be sure to check out Postmodern Jukebox's Spotify for even more incredible covers.
Penn Badgley Reacts to the Biggest Twists From Season 2 of You: "The Ending's Perfect"
We thought Netflix's You couldn't get any crazier after season one, but the second chapter proved to be way wilder. Since season two's Dec. 26 release, people have been reacting to all the twists and turns the show takes, notably Love Quinn's (Victoria Pedretti) dark side that's akin to Joe Goldberg's (Penn Badgley) murderous ways. The two seem to be a match made in Joe's secret storage prison, and they even have a baby on the way. But, as the final scene reveals, Joe has his eyes set on another woman, despite having an ostensibly picture-perfect life with a pregnant Love.
Unsurprisingly, there are quite a few rumblings about the ending, some of which are coming from Badgley himself. The actor, who's been pretty outspoken about his disdain for Joe, recently chatted with Entertainment Weekly about Love's lethal ways. "With this one, it was actually a bit of a reveal for me," he said. "I was only able to get through the second season because I was like, 'Well at least they're made for each other in the end.' If I had gone through a second season knowing that anybody was going to die, it's hard."
Badgley even admitted that he wasn't initially a fan of how the season concludes, but that later changed. "When I found out where it was headed, I was kind of crestfallen because, just selfishly, I wanted there to be a more positive resolution," he explained. "But just like Beck dying in the first season, I realized that this was the most accurate, the most reflective of reality, the most responsible to be like, 'No, Joe doesn't get to have that.'"
The actor also believes his character is not only undeserving of romance, but doesn't even want it. "Joe is not actually looking for true love," he added. "He's not actually a person who just needs somebody who loves him. He's a murderer! He's a sociopath. He's abusive. He's delusional. And he's self-obsessed. You can't fool yourself into thinking that he just needs somebody who's right for him. Nobody's right for him! So actually, the ending's perfect. This is the way it has to be because he has an irrefutable problem and if it was just like, 'They were made for each other, all he needed to find was somebody who kills people too,' that's not justice. I think it's reflective of reality because I don't think people who kill are like, 'I just need somebody who can do the same.'"
So what comes next? Well, a season three of You seems very likely. And if the writers manage to make it as mind-blowing as the first two installments, then we're in for a truly frightening experience. In the meantime, close your blinds and trust no one.
Try This Simple Tip to Seed Jalapeños Without the Burn
Whenever I use jalapeños, or any other spicy chile for that matter, I always employ the same simple technique for seeding that ensures my hands and eyes won't burn. Try this method and trust me, you'll never seed spicy chiles any other way again.
How to Seed Jalapeños
- Flatten a plastic bag on the counter next to a cutting board. Place the jalapeño on the cutting board and slice the stem off, then slice in half lengthwise.
- Set the jalapeño half in the middle of the plastic baggy. Fold the plastic over to cover the jalapeño.
- Taking care not to cut the plastic with your nail, gently scrap out the seeds into the plastic.
- Repeat with the remaining half and prepare jalapeño according to your recipe.
It's a lot easier than wearing gloves! How do you seed chiles?

From dark thrillers to kinky romps, a few new series have really pushed the envelope when it comes to originality, diversity, and incredible storytelling, and we can only hope to see a second season of them all.

You Season 2: Joe Is Back to His Murderous Ways, and Fans Can't Help but Love It
The second coming of Penn Badgley's creepy, violent stalker Joe dropped on Dec. 26 and fans have been properly sucked in. Season two of Netflix's You sees Joe move from New York City to Los Angeles as he sets his sights on a new obsession and is forced to deal with his past in the form of his ex Candace. I won't spoil anything that happens, but it's a wild ride.
By the time the series premiered on Netflix fans were more than ready to watch Joe dive back into his homicidal nonsense, and the season provided that in spades. If you haven't finished watching, we caution against reading the fan reactions ahead - they're full of spoilers! But if you've already made your way through the 10 episodes, scroll ahead for some of the best responses to Joe's new life in Los Angeles, the introduction of Love, and, yes, even some Beck hate. Because somehow, even after death, people still think she's the worst.
