Mindy Kaling Channeled Devi From Never Have I Ever For Halloween, and Yep, She Nailed It

Netflix's Never Have I Ever was one of the few good things to come out of 2020, so it's no surprise why Mindy Kaling decided to channel her inner Devi Vishwakumar for Halloween this year. On Oct. 29, the actress and creator of the show shared a photo of her spot-on costume on Instagram, writing, "What's a'poppin?! Do you like my Halloween costume?" Of course, it didn't take very long for Devi herself, aka Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, to respond. "This is why I love this spooky month😭❤️," she commented on Mindy's snap. From the nearly identical pose to the entire outfit, it's safe to say that Mindy nailed her costume - or shall we say, Devi?

Here's What the "Fittest Woman on Earth" Eats in a Day (Spoiler: It's a LOT of Carbs!)

Tia-Clair Toomey has won the CrossFit Games for her fourth year in a row, and with the title of the "Fittest Woman on Earth," aren't you curious to know what she eats to fuel her workouts? In this video she shows us exactly what she eats in a day, and includes the macros for each meal that she calculates using My Fitness Pal.

When Toomey fuels up before training in the morning, her breakfast consists of oatmeal with berries and a bagel with peanut butter and banana - about 430 calories and 100 grams of carbs. She said she understands that it seems like a lot of carbs for one meal, but that's because she'll be exerting a lot of energy during her training. After breakfast, she likes to take her vitamins, such as omega-3s, a multivitamin, probiotics, zinc, CBD, and ACV gummies, on a full stomach.

Toomey also fuels up during her workout, because she's often at the gym for four to six hours. She'll have a Fuel for Fire pouch, fruit, or a tiny meal. Within 30 to 60 minutes after her training, she has a shake with protein and carbs to help with her recovery, made with a scoop of 1st Phorm Loop D Fruit protein powder. It's her favorite flavor because "it tastes like Fruit Loops - it's amazing," she said.

Lunch is a salad with apple, avocado, and salmon, which is about 300 calories. Guess what's for dinner? A 700-calorie Chipotle bowl with chicken, black beans, white rice, guacamole, salsa, cheese, and lettuce. After dinner she enjoys some warm, sleepy tea with a protein bar.

Toomey's daily goal is about 2,500 calories (recommended by her coach), but she follows how she feels and will eat less if she feels satisfied, or more if she's tired or hungry. She explains that she tried saving her macros for the evening so she could eat "whatever junk food I could," like chocolate and candy, but after three days, that took a toll on her training, and Toomey said, "I was crumbling." So she focuses on including healthy, wholesome, low-calorie foods like veggies, she said, "to feel like I'm eating a lot, but really I'm not."

On the day the above video was filmed, Toomey's macros were 261 grams of carbs, 69 grams of fat, and 134 grams of protein, which was in the ballpark of the macros she tries to reach when she's competing. She said the most crucial thing with nutrition is to listen to your body, and change things if they're not working or you're not feeling well. She hopes sharing what she eats in a day leading up to a competition will be helpful to others.

We Spoke to 2 Doctors Who Both Advised Against Visiting Santa This Year

One of the most fun parts of the holiday season for children is visiting Santa Claus. However, amid COVID-19, sitting on a stranger's lap is probably not the best idea. With social distancing advised fr the forseeable, many communities are either choosing not to have a Santa this year or are changing up the way they do it. We spoke with two doctors who are experts in pediatrics and epidemiology about what they suggest families do this holiday season.

If My Children Want to See Santa This Year, What Should I Do?

The tradition of sitting on Santa's lap at Christmas time might have to be put on hold this year, according to the doctors who spoke to POPSUGAR. "Sitting on Santa's knee this year is not a good idea, even with masks," said Gwen Murphy, PhD, MPH, director of epidemiology at LetsGetChecked. "We want all kids and Santa to be safe and well throughout the holidays. Santa himself would be considered at high-risk for infection so we all need to protect him, too."

Leann Poston, MD, MBA, MEd, agreed, telling POPSUGAR, "The highest risk activities are those that are indoors, in smaller areas, with less ventilation and more people. Unfortunately, the traditional Santa sitting in the corner of a store or mall fits many of these high-risk criteria." She added there's potential for crying and yelling to increase droplet spread, and since the potential for crying and yelling from children is high when visiting Santa, it makes the whole situation even less safe.

If I've Chosen to Take My Kids to Visit Santa, What Are Best Practices?

While both doctors recommend avoiding a traditional Santa visit this year, Dr. Murphy suggested that if your family absolutely has to visit a Santa, you find a place that's scheduling appointments so there's no crowd, but she still wasn't enthusiastic about it. "Unfortunately, no child should be in close contact - within six feet - with Santa this year," she added. Also make sure everyone in the family is properly wearing a mask at all times, except for children under age two. That being said, if you have children under age two not wearing masks, which Dr. Poston noted might be a large portion of the children visiting Santa, it's a better idea to just stay home.

What Are Safe Alternatives to Visiting Santa?

This year is the year to get creative with how you celebrate the holidays. Rather than taking your children to see a mall Santa Claus like you have in the past, maybe someone in the family can dress up like Santa to entertain the kids in your own home. This way, you're not exposing your kids to strangers and vice versa.

Some communities are also holding meet and greets with Santa Claus in a safer manner, like having him behind a glass partition and allowing children to stand nearby for photos. While this is a potential option if your children really want to see Santa at a place they're familiar with (like at a Christmas festival in town or something similar), it will definitely be a different experience from what they're used to. It can be an option, though!

Dr. Murphy also mentioned that other ways for communities to get creative this holiday season can include Santa talking to children remotely from his workshop or having Santa drive through town on a firetruck to say hello. Dr. Poston added that maybe you can pass a message along to Santa this year on behalf of your child and let the Santa photo wait until another year.

Just remember if you do decide to go out anywhere for a socially distanced meeting with Santa, you and your family follow CDC guidelines for masks and properly wash your hands when needed. "The holidays will look and feel different this year but let's use this as an opportunity to be creative in devising new ways to stay in contact remotely," Dr. Murphy told POPSUGAR. "That way, we can all celebrate safely together next year and for all the years to come."

How to Choose a Weighted Blanket That's Equally Effective and Comfortable

Crushing anxiety can hit me at any time: in the drive-thru, while working a major deadline, at the grocery store. But the worst is when my anxiety ticks up just as I'm trying to unwind in the evening or lay down to go to sleep. Enter: the weighted blanket! You probably already know how amazing these things can be - they're thought to help ease anxiety by holding you like a strong hug - but you may not know that there are buying guidelines you should follow in order to ensure you reap the benefits.

Weighted blankets look just like any other blanket, but they're filled with plastic beads or pellets to make them feel heavier. They generally come in sizes from 5 to 30 pounds, and how much you weigh matters when choosing which blanket is right for you. Your weighted blanket should be about 10 percent of your body weight. (That means you should get a 15-pound blanket if you weigh 150 pounds.) You also want to make sure that your blanket is the same size or larger than you are, although it should not hang over the side of your bed.

Keep in mind: this isn't a perfect formula. When I used a weighted blanket that was technically the right weight for me, I started feeling claustrophobic, like I was trapped. It definitely didn't lower my anxiety at all. If you struggle to roll over under your weighted blanket or start to feel like it's too heavy, it's OK to go lighter - it just might not offer quite the same benefits. (Note that it's particularly important for kids to be able to move, especially while sleeping. In fact, weighted blankets are not recommended for young children.)

Choosing a weighted blanket is a very personal decision. If it feels right for you, then go for it! You're sure to enjoy the cozy benefits, no matter what.

We're Just a Little Bit Obsessed With Annie Murphy and Emily Hampshire's IRL Friendship

Alexis Rose and Stevie Budd may not have much in common on Schitt's Creek, but IRL, the actresses who play them couldn't be closer. For five years and six seasons, Annie Murphy and Emily Hampshire spent endless hours together on set, and judging from all their cute pics together on social media, the two have forged a bond for life. It's a beautiful friendship that almost never happened because - as Annie revealed to Vulture during an April 2018 interview - she originally auditioned to play Stevie but knew she could never pull off the role once she saw Emily perform. "I don't want to live in a world where Emily doesn't play Stevie!" Annie added. And we don't want to live in a world where these two aren't besties. Check out the gallery for their cutest BFF pics of all time.

Yes, The Bachelorette's Dale Moss Was a Party City Model, and of Course, We Have Photos

Listen, we've all had that one gig where we look back with a little wince, but it paid the bills, so who are we to badmouth a paying job? Well, I think we all found Dale Moss's wince-worthy gig! The former NFL player may be finding fame as the stealer of Clare Crawley's heart on this season of The Bachelorette, but now he's definitely reached infamy for being a Halloween costume model for Party City.

On Oct. 22, a Bachelorette fan spotted the Wilhelmina International model sporting three costumes on the website, noting that if anyone thought he looked familiar, it's because of a previous side hustle. Fans also found the 32-year-old South Dakota native on a bag of photo props holding up a sign that reads "Hubby." How appropriate! When a Bachelor Instagram fan account posted the Party City pics online, Dale told his fans that it could be worse, saying, "Love it! Read your contracts, kids ;)." What an easy-going guy!

Keep scrolling to see Dale's carefree grin in a Superman, taco, and gladiator costume ahead.

It's Official - Netflix's The Baby-Sitters Club Has Been Renewed For Season 2

The Baby-Sitters Club reboot hit Netflix on July 3, and we're already ready for more. Luckily for us, the series was renewed for season two on Wednesday, and it's set to premiere sometime in 2021.

While Netflix has yet to release any other details, we have a lot of hope for a renewal. In case you weren't aware, by the time The Baby-Sitters Club ceased publication in 2000, there were 213 books in the series. The first season is only 10 episodes long, with each focusing on one of the members of the titular club, which means there's a wealth of untapped potential Netflix can pull from. In fact, the cast of the new series - Sophie Grace (Kristy Thomas), Malia Baker (Mary Anne Spier), Shay Rudolph (Stacey McGill), Momona Tamada (Claudia Kishi), and Xochitl Gomez (Dawn Schafer) - spoke to POPSUGAR about some of the things they'd like to see in a future season.

For Rudolph, she wouldn't want Stacey to move back to New York City like she does in the books. "I want to stay with the other BSC girls and have fun babysitting adventures and make more memories on set!" Grace is a huge lover of dogs, so she wished that Kristy's first-ever Baby-Sitters Club job as a dog-sitter had made it into the first season. But who knows, perhaps the Baby-Sitters Club can expand to include more dogs in the reboot? If that doesn't happen, Grace added, "I hope Kristy can coach Kristy's Krushers just like she did in the books."

While Tamada loved how the first season turned out, she would definitely want to see the girls travel out of Stoneybrook in season two. I can only imagine how amazing Claudia's travel looks would be! As for Gomez, she loves spooky ghost stories like The Ghost at Dawn's House, and was bummed they didn't make it in. Maybe they can have a fun Halloween episode in season two? Meanwhile, Baker feels a strong connection to Mary Anne, particularly when it comes to how she handles surprises, making the storyline where Mary Anne runs away due to a surprise party in the books her ideal scenario for season two.

And those are just the storylines that the cast would like to see happen. If Netflix needs a bit more inspiration, we've already made a list of the best Baby-Sitters Club books of all time.

We Already Have a Pretty Good Idea When Clare Will Be Leaving The Bachelorette

If you're watching Clare Crawley's season of The Bachelorette, you already have a fair idea of where her journey is going. The leading lady has her eye firmly on the prize, and that happens to be former NFL player Dale Moss, which is kind of a problem considering she still has a large group of men fighting for her affection. But with all the reports and a ton of teasing from ABC, it's safe to say we know Clare will be leaving the season early with Dale on her arm. The only question is, when?

Thankfully, that hasn't been shrouded in too much mystery! Reality-TV expert Reality Steve reported that Clare supposedly gets through three rose ceremonies before production sends her packing with Dale at her side. The second rose ceremony was on Oct. 27, and for those of you who've seen the episode already, it's heavily hinted at that the end is near. Not only has Clare sent home some men during her rose ceremonies, but she also sent home two guys outside of them. She's cutting to the quick, and the men are starting to notice that her attention isn't as divided as they may have hoped. So, Nov. 5 being her final rose ceremony checks out with the general vibe of events happening.

But because this is The Bachelorette, we can already guess that Clare's exit won't be a quick or easy one. It's obvious to everyone that Clare no longer wants to play the Bachelorette game, she's found the man she's into, and she's done with the whole charade. The fact that she keeps canceling dates is a clear indication that she doesn't have it in her to pretend to be into any guy other than Dale. But we can guess that the show will stretch her exit to last the full two-hour time slot for the Nov. 5 episode and follow up with Tayshia Adams stepping in to officially replace her in the following week on Nov. 10. So hold on, Tayshia fans, you're almost there!

The Craft: Legacy's Lovie Simone Talks Modern Witchcraft, Finding Your Power, and a Tabby Spinoff

Playing in the same sandbox as such an iconic film as The Craft can be a tricky sport, but according to The Craft: Legacy's Lovie Simone, the sequel is able to stand on its own thanks to one element: time. "This Craft is definitely similar to the other in the sense that the outsiders are the weirdos and the girls are stepping into their power," she told POPSUGAR over the phone. "I think all of that is the same, but it's for the girls now. It's for what the weirdos look like now, what witches look like now, and how a coven would thrive in today's age against this generation's brand of hypermasculinity."

While Legacy does use the standard formula of its predecessor - three witches find their fourth in the new girl at school and take her under their wing as they explore their powers - its narrative is easily distinguished because of how much society has changed since 1996. It probably also helps that Zoe Lister-Jones helmed the sequel rather than an all-male creative team like the first. Nonetheless, The Craft is about a group of women fighting against the idea that they should be cowed and bestowed with magic that allows them a voice in a world that doesn't want to hear them speak. Legacy, on the other hand, focuses on a generation of women who have gotten messages of empowerment since they were born, and they're all the bolder, brasher, and more fabulous for it.

Unlike the coven of The Craft, Tabby (Simone), Lily (Cailee Spaeny), Lourdes (Zoey Luna), and Frankie (Gideon Adlon) already know they're important and that "your difference is your power." They're remarkably less angsty than the first film's foursome (most of the time), which sets the scene for a less ominous look at witchcraft and the sisterhood of a coven.

"[Legacy] reinforced what I knew witchcraft to be," Simone explained. "And I like how the film doesn't end with the girls against each other. You don't see that in the last film, considering how it ends. I like that we get a lot more time with the girls, see them bonding, and you get to see the life of the coven."

We never learn anything about the trio's lives other than a few throwaway lines about Tabby's Blackness and Lourdes being transgender.

It's the coven that gives Legacy the meat it needs to feel like its own thing rather than a gentler reboot of the first film. Though the film centers its focus on Spaeny's Lily, who is beautifully fragile before allowing herself to harness her power, it's inarguably the witches played by Simone, Luna, and Adlon that I would have liked to have seen more from. We never learn anything about the trio's lives other than a few throwaway lines about Tabby's Blackness and Lourdes being transgender. When I asked Simone what she would have loved to add to the film, the 21-year-old actress admitted that she would've wanted more insight into Tabby's family, specifically her mother, who taught her about her power. "She's the witch with the most experience because her family's into it, so I'd want to see what her mom's version of witchcraft looks like and what Tabby runs to her mom for," she revealed, which I would be into wholeheartedly. If The Powers That Be are reading this, that is more than enough material for a spinoff focusing on Tabby and her witchy ways!

While Legacy isn't Simone's first project, it does rank high on her list of favorites, being one of the few where she's been able to work with other women her age. The actress is best known for her roles on Greenleaf and as the lead of 2019's Selah and the Spades and is quickly gaining a reputation for bringing nuanced, complex characters to life. Given her previous work, she's developed a craft for being able to slip out of herself and react authentically as the character. "I feel like that's made me a better person overall because I get a little more perspective out of life now," she said. "I try to step out of myself to assess the situation in any situation on set and in real life."

"I'm trying to show people that it's cool to explore humanity, no matter how crazy it may look or seem, because humanity is crazy."

Simone doesn't prescribe to a set criterion when she seeks out her projects, though her work has had a common thread of following young women finding their power in difficult situations. For instance, the titular Selah in the Amazon Prime Video film is a senior at a boarding school where she leads a faction of students called the Spades who sell drugs to other students. As the head of the Spades, Selah is the queen of her land, and Simone portrays her confidence with ease, an empowered young woman who I have no doubt we could have seen in Tabby if the witch had had more time to grow. I asked Simone if she purposefully sought out roles where she would be able to portray an empowered young Black woman in a world where we so rarely see it depicted.

"Yes and no," she told me, adding that she understands how seeing her in roles like that impacts viewers and future narratives for Black women. "I do want people to see folks who look like me in powerful roles and what that looks like realistically, but I also know that people who look like me aren't often put in those roles, so I want to show that as well," she said. "I'm just really interested in storytelling. So whichever way it comes and if it feels right, and if everything is in order, then I'm there."

"I'm trying to show people that it's cool to explore humanity, no matter how crazy it may look or seem, because humanity is crazy. And there's a lot of gray areas," she went on earnestly. "That's why I loved working on The Craft. I've talked about being in a Christian family and growing up in a church, and it was amazing for me to explore the other side of the spectrum where it was all about women empowerment and witchcraft. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit on one end, and the Mother, the Maiden, the Chrone on the other." It's that versatility that promises this won't be the last we see of Simone's particular kind of magic.
