On Repeat: Little Mix's Performance of Their New Single "Sweet Melody" at the MTV EMA
Little Mix had a big (and busy!) night at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards on Sunday. In addition to hosting the event and being nominated for four awards, they also had the chance perform "Sweet Melody," the new single off of the group's most recent studio album, Confetti.
"What an honor! To present the MTV EMA's is a dream, it's such a special event," the group said in a statement to MTV in anticipation of the event. "We've always loved watching the spectacular performances and seeing who everyone has voted to win. This year we'll also be performing our new single 'Sweet Melody,' our second EMA performance. The show will go on and we can't wait!"
It's safe to say their much-anticipated performance delivered. The choreography, vocals, outfits, and video-game-like set gave it the incredible virtual-reality-meets-actual-reality vibes.
Unfortunately, the group were a woman down for the live event, as Jesy Nelson couldn't attend due to illness, according to a spokesperson for the band.
Little Mix was nominated for best pop, best group, best virtual live for "UNCancelled", and best UK and Ireland act, and they won best pop and best UK and Ireland act. Congrats!
Alicia Keys's MTV EMA Performance Included a Moving Stage and a Dazzling Face Mask
Alicia Keys may have been back home in Los Angeles, but that didn't mean she missed out on participating in Sunday's MTV Europe Music Awards. The singer performed her new song "Love Looks Better" in the face mask to end all face masks. Sitting at her piano in an embellished face covering and matching top on a glorious moving stage, Keys was quite literally dripping in diamonds from start to finish. Complete with a signature Keys piano, the moving performance was followed by a touching tribute to Eddie Van Halen and a pretty impressive costume change from Little Mix.
Her MTV EMA performance comes just a month after Keys surprised fans with a new look during her performance of "Love Looks Better" at the Billboard Music Awards in Los Angeles on Oct. 14. Watch the singer's performance above!
Maluma Performed at the MTV EMA From the Most Epic Miami Apartment
Maluma made his MTV Europe Music Awards debut this year with a dreamy performance of both "Djadja" and "Hawái". The Colombian singer, who was also nominated for best Latin artist, performed a mix of the two tracks with an impressive lineup of backing dancers and some seriously impressive views of Miami.
Kitted out in typical Maluma fashion, the singer attended the award ceremony in a suave red suit with his dancers bringing all the glitz and glamour to the stage. Set in a pretty swanky-looking apartment complete with an actual rooftop, it's safe to say his appearance was one not to be missed.
His performance at the 2020 MTV EMA comes just a month after the Billboard Latin Music Awards, where he sang "Hawái" and was honoured with Billboard's Spirit of Hope Award.

From London to Los Angeles, the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards Were Truly a Global Event
The 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards had a truly global feel; the show was filmed across multiple locations around world due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Much of Sunday's event took place in the United Kingdom, with performances from Sam Smith, Zara Larsson, Yungblud, and Little Mix, who, in addition to performing their their new single, "Sweet Melody" (the group's second ever EMA performance), also hosted the show. Unfortunately, the girl group had to take on their hosting duties as a trio instead of a quartet, with Jesy Nelson unable to attend due to illness.
Alicia Keys performed her new song "Love Looks Better" in Los Angeles, Maluma sang both "Djadja" and "Hawái" from a pretty epic penthouse in Miami, while David Guetta went all out with a set and light show performed on a stage built in the pool of the Széchenyi Bath in Hungary.
Presenters such as Rita Ora, Barbara Palvin, Bebe Rexha, and Winnie Harlow were also broadcast from across the globe.
As for the awards themselves, Lada Gaga, who led the charge with seven nominations, walked away with best artist, H.E.R. won best video for good, Karol G won best Latin, and BTS won best group. Look ahead for photos of the winners, hosts, and performances from the 2020 MTV EMA.
Jesy Nelson Misses Out on Hosting the 2020 MTV EMA Due to Illness
Little Mix star Jesy Nelson wasn't able to attend Sunday's MTV European Music Awards due to an illness. News of the illness comes just after she also missed the final of the group's brand-new show, Little Mix: The Search, which naturally left their fans pretty concerned. The show follows the girls on their quest to find the next hottest band and gives fans a glimpse into their friendship and life on the road, and it showcases just how much they've all grown since the days of The X Factor.
A rep from the band revealed in a statement: "Jesy is unwell and will not be appearing on tonight's final of Little Mix The Search. She will also not be hosting or performing at tomorrow's MTV EMAs."
David Guetta and Raye Performed "Let's Love" With an Epic Light Show at the MTV EMA
A day after being named the best DJ in the world by DJ Mag, David Guetta walked away with the best electronic music award at Sunday's MTV 2020 European Music Awards. To celebrate the major win, Guetta performed his new single "Let's Love" from his most recent album of the same name, which originally features vocals by Sia but was instead performed by British artist Raye.
Guetta's special set was the most epic performance of the night, as the French DJ streamed live from a stage built in the pool of the Széchenyi Bath in Hungary immersed in a spectacular light show. While some fans were a bit gutted that Sia wasn't able to make the stage with Guetta, Raye's incredible voice and undeniable talent gave the up-and-coming singer a debut performance that was a defining moment of the award show.
Above, watch Guetta's live performance of "Let's Love" for the first time with Raye.
Sam Smith Made a Powerful Statement About Inclusion During Their MTV EMA Performance
Just a couple of weeks after Sam Smith finally released their third album, Love Goes (which they decided to delay and rename due to the coronavirus pandemic), the singer got the chance to perform their new single, "Diamonds," off the album at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards on Nov. 8.
Smith's incredible performance wasn't just striking because of their dancing (which they teased to preshow host Becca Dudley as their first time dancing while singing on stage), but it also made an important statement about inclusion. The closing shot from the performance saw Smith facing the backdrop with a message that read, "Don't f*ck with the queer kids." The bold red backdrop and lightning graphics along with the powerful messaging and stunning vocals made for one memorable performance.
In addition to the moving performance, Smith was also a nominee at the EMA, up for best collaboration for their duet with Demi Lovato, "I'm Ready."

Ciara Filmed the Joyful Moment She Told Her Daughter About Kamala Harris's Historic VP Win
Ciara celebrated Joe Biden and Kamala Harris's projected election win with her family, and she wanted her daughter, Sienna, to know exactly why this is a victory for all women. On Nov. 7, after Pennsylvania's votes pushed the politicians into winning territory, Ciara shared her reaction to the president-elect and vice president-elect on Instagram.
"How amazing is it that the first woman vice president is in the White House?" Ciara asked her 3-year-old. "And she's also a woman of color. It's so powerful. We can do anything we put our minds to, right?" Sienna sweetly echoed her words, and added a "Go girls! Go everybody!"
Sienna also added a quick "and the COVID's over!" before Ciara quickly corrected her - "COVID's not quite over sunshine." We're with you there, Sienna, we wish all that good news came at once. However, Ciara has high hopes for Biden's administration and so do we. "I believe that Joe Biden, President Biden, is going to be the right president to get us on the right track." Watch their adorable interaction in full, above.
Meet Major: Joe Biden's German Shepherd Will Be the First Rescue Dog in the White House
There's going to be a couple of new "first dogs" thanks to Joe Biden's projected election win on Nov. 7. Come January, the president-elect and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, will put pets back in the White House - including the establishment's first rescue dog.
Joe saw Major the German Shepherd on social media back in 2018 and was moved by his story. Major was one of six puppies forced to vacate their home after being exposed to something toxic, before finding a temporary home with the Delaware Humane Association. Joe reached out for more information, which led to the Bidens fostering Major for eight months before he was officially adopted.
In addition to Major, the Bidens are also bringing another dog, named Champ, to the White House. They've had the older German Shepherd since 2008. Major and Champ are the latest in a long line of pups to grace the presidential building, and we can't wait to see more of their adorable shenanigans in the future.
