This New Smartphone Is Going to Change Your World
The current era of how we use our smartphones is about to change with the arrival of the Phab 2 Pro. Announced at the 2016 Lenovo Tech World, the Phab 2 Pro is the first phone to use Google's Tango - a new technology that makes your phone more useful than ever before.
Tango, formerly known as Project Tango, is an augmented reality (AR) technology that will use the Phab 2 Pro's camera and sensors to interact virtually with a real space. As Google explains in a blog post, it means the next time you're looking for a new bed, you can just use your phone and literally see how different bed options would look in your room - just from your phone.
Available in September, the phone uses "motion tracking, depth perception, and area learning" to utilize Tango. This means that in addition to the two cameras that phone has, it will also include depth- and motion-tracking cameras to create the Tango experience.
To use AR, the phone will come with a special app store with 25 apps ready for use with Tango, reports The Verge. Other details about the phone include:
- 6.4 inch display
- 16-megapixel rear-facing camera
- 8-megapixel front-facing camera
- 4 GB RAM
- Fingerprint scanner
- It will cost $499 to start and will come in Champagne gold and gunmetal gray
- It will be available online and at select Lowe's hardware stores
Ahead, check out photos of the phone as well as a video of how Tango works. Trust us - this technology is the future of smartphones.
