10 Things to Know About Daily Photo Challenges Before Making It Your 2017 Resolution, According to 1 Experienced Mom
Being friends with Stephanie Doggett on social media pretty much guarantees you one thing: seeing daily snapshots revealing what life is like for her family of five.
As the mother of three boys 6 years old and under, Stephanie has found a way to cherish both the big and small moments among the chaos while also sharing these milestones with loved ones. Before the start of 2015, a blogger inspired this mom from Maryland to take part in a daily photo challenge. Determined to see it through, Stephanie spent the following 365 days posting one snapshot a day, with the same personal hashtag - #thedailydogg2015 - as well as the day number, to track her year's events.
Although this project definitely added some stress on occasion, it also forced Stephanie to take a moment each day to recognize a silly, playful, or profound moment and add it to a now cherished collection. From mom moments like marking when she was able to sneak away to get her hair done to heart-melting sibling embraces, each post now has meaning. "I have pictures of so many milestones, but most importantly just the average day of cuddles or basement soccer goal celebrations or the last time I got my hair highlighted," Stephanie told POPSUGAR. "It's basically become my kids' baby books."
After a full year, Stephanie decided to do it again for 2016 and her husband, Michael, has enjoyed being able to see how much the three boys have changed thanks to his wife's diligent photography. As her second year comes to an end, Stephanie is planning to turn each yearly photo collection into a Chat Books poster for the family's new home and will be keeping up the challenge for at least one more year. However, before new parents take on this photo resolution, here are 10 things to know courtesy of this experienced photo-challenge mama.
