6 Quick Facts About Myla Dalbesio, the Model Who Will Be Everywhere in 2017
Get ready - you'll be hearing the name Myla Dalbesio a lot more this year. Myla, who was Calvin Klein's first plus-size lingerie model in 2014, landed another huge honor this week as a Sports Illustrated rookie. The swim shoot took place on a beach (as expected) and the model's completely uncovered, save for a body chain and bikini bottoms. The moment was a special one for Myla, who has been vocal about media representation of all body types and sizes.
"I hope that this can be an example for other women to continue to stand strong in their convictions and not be afraid to use their voice," she said on Instagram. "And for girls in the industry, I hope this is reassurance that you don't need to have 1 million followers to be noticed. You can still be judged by the quality of work you do and the person you are. Which, I think, is something to celebrate."
Myla joins the ranks of other curvy SI ladies like Ashley Graham, who's known for celebrating her "plus-size" figure, too. She even congratulated Ashley on her own swim shoot a while back, saying, "So proud of you Ashley, and all your triumphs. It's been so exciting watching you ascend over the years."
