Bella Heathcote Teases Her Mysterious Character in Fifty Shades Darker
When it comes to the intensity of Fifty Shades Darker, the second movie in the Fifty Shades trilogy, the title tells you everything you need to know. The new film has everything the first one had, except it's sexier, more dangerous, more action-packed, and, well, darker. As the trailers for the film have rolled out over the course of the past handful of months, the heightened nature has come across in spades. And when it comes to the danger, nothing seems more threatening than the unraveling girl who seems to be haunting Christian and Anastasia. Her name is Leila, and she's actually an ex of Christian Grey. But what exactly can we expect when it comes to the mysterious figure from Christian's past? We talked to actress Bella Heathcote at the premiere of the film in Los Angeles, and she gave us all the insight we need.
Who, exactly, is this crazy young woman? "Someone you don't want to find on the end of the bed when you're waking up," Heathcote teased. "I'm basically a spurned ex who's grief-stricken and heartbroken and doesn't have the tools to cope. I'm following Anastasia around, trying figure out what this girl has that she doesn't." To give a better sense of exactly how unhinged her character might be, Heathcote revealed it's all about the details. "There's definitely a prop that I wear throughout that indicates kind of my mental state and how unstable it is." Looks like we'll have to wait until the film's Feb. 10 release to find out what she means.
