Emily Ratajkowski's Mint Eye Is the Sexiest Version of Mermaid Makeup We've Ever Seen
Our gateway into the world of mermaid beauty was, of course, Ariel in The Little Mermaid. But we've evolved well past combing our hair with a fork. Thanks to the advent of sea-siren-inspired makeup products, we've found a way to infuse the mythical creature into nearly every day. And recently, at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, makeup artist Hung Vanngo and Emily Ratajkowski proved that iridescent aquatic glam is just as sexy an option for date night (if not sexier!) as a standard smoky eye.
Using Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in O(vert) 56 ($25), Vanngo traced along her upper and lower lashline, as well as a bit on her lids, to create the foundation and overall shape of the look. After blending it, he layered smoky green and charcoal shadows from the Marc Jacobs Beauty Style Eye Con No 7 Plush Eye Shadow Palette in The Vamp ($59) on top. However, the real magic took place with the addition of a sheer silver shadow on top of the final look. This shifted what was likely a smoky emerald eye into one with a pale minty luster and mermaid vibes.
If you really wanted to go all out, you could add a bold metallic lip and beachy waves to complete your mermaid metamorphosis, but we're pretty fond of how Emily opted to keep things simple with a dewy, peachy lip and messy ballerina bun.
