Janelle Monáe's Red Carpet Dress Is Bound to Make History at the Oscars
Janelle Monáe's quickly established herself as a red carpet trendsetter, with an inimitable sense of style. With a big night ahead of her (the actress's films Moonlight and Hidden Figures are nominated in several major categories), the focus will be not only be on her movies, but also her debut Oscars look. We tapped her stylist Maeve Reilly on what we can expect to see from Janelle tonight.
"We have a lot of favorite brands that we love, but obviously if they [designers] do a collection that doesn't include black and white it doesn't work for us," she said. "Her dress tonight is definitely an Oscars dress and there would be nowhere else in the world she could wear this dress."
Though we have yet to see Janelle's dress, we can expect it to be black and white - given her past red carpet choices - and it will be straight off the runway. "We've been on two press tours for Moonlight and Hidden Figures so it's definitely our grand finale," Maeve revealed. "I definitely woke up this morning feeling like a kid on Christmas morning."
