Jennifer Lopez on Body Confidence: "I Never Appreciated My Looks When I Was in My 20s"

It's hard to believe this sentence came out of Jennifer Lopez's mouth: "I never appreciated my body or my looks when I was in my 20s." You would think that a woman who has rocked some of the sexiest outfits we've ever seen would be 100 percent confident, but we're all human, even J Lo, which is why it's so refreshing to read her words on W magazine's March 2017 issue.

The actress, singer, producer, shoe designer, and now World of Dance judge shares the cover with Kate Moss, Jessica Chastain, Donatella Versace, and Taraji P. Henson. In the interview, she opens up about growing more comfortable with her body as the years go by, saying, "Now I'm like, 'look at me!'" Oh, J Lo, we are totally looking. Scroll ahead for more must-read quotes from the piece and to see the gorgeous cover.

  • On taking risks: "I think living and pushing outside your comfort zone is the only way to be happy, ultimately. In the middle of it, risk is uncomfortable. But to me, there's something super exciting about that. It's probably the way I'm wired. Most people don't like it, but I'm like, 'Yeah! Let's do more, let's take more, let's see more . . .' Then I'm in it and, like, 'Wow, this is a lot.'"
  • On her 8-year-old twins, Emme and Max: "They have their own little lives. I'd love to walk around with them and watch what he notices and she notices, who they talk to, what they're like. What makes them smile, what makes them laugh. Everything I do has to be rushed, because there's a limited amount of time I can be out before things get crazy."
  • On being more confident than ever: "Men in their 20s are very confident and cocky, and women are super insecure. And then it flips: Men get super insecure, and women get comfortable in their own skin, in a way that makes them more beautiful. I never appreciated my body or my looks when I was in my 20s. Now I'm like, 'look at me! Look at you!' Not in a conceited or arrogant way - I just appreciate myself in a way I didn't when I was that age. And it's not about perfection. I like the scars that I have."
