Ruth Negga Wears a Blue Ribbon in Solidarity With the ACLU
Ruth Negga showed up to the Oscars red carpet in a stunning long-sleeved red lace dress by Valentino. The actress accessorized her sophisticated look with Irene Neuwirth crown and earrings, covered in rubies.
The most notable accessory, however, was a small blue ribbon that Ruth attached to her dress. The ribbon represents solidarity with the American Civil Liberties Union. Lin-Manuel Miranda and Casey Affleck have also been spotted wearing the ribbons on award season red carpets, and you can bet you'll see plenty more tonight.
Ruth is up for best actress for her performance in Loving, a historical drama about an interracial couple who were the plaintiffs in the Supreme Court case Loving v. Virginia, which made interracial marriage legal on a federal level.
