This "Death Wish" Coffee Has Triple the Amount of Caffeine as Starbucks
Black Insomnia Coffee, self-described as "death wish coffee," claims that it makes the world's strongest coffee. If you get jittery from a Tall cup of Pike Place coffee from Starbucks, you might want to skip out on this brand, because it has triple the amount of caffeine. Made in Cape Town, South Africa, the coffee has 702 milligrams of caffeine in every 12-ounce cup (the same size as a Tall). For comparison, the daily recommended amount of caffeine is about 400 milligrams - and we're talking about almost double that about in just one cup. Black Insomina's mantra is #sleepingischeating for a reason.
Do you dare take the plunge and try this out for yourself? If you laugh in the face of decaf and can confidently say you could handle Black Insomnia, you can order a one-pound bag online for $19. There are also a handful of coffee shops in Cape Town that serve the coffee, such as Shift Espresso Bar and Ginja Beanz. The most caffeinated Starbucks beverage is the Nitro Cold Brew, which has so much caffeine that it's not allowed to be served in a Venti; but even that 20-ounce cup doesn't have nearly the same amount as the 12-ounce serving from Black Insomnia. I guess this is meant for those mornings when you need coffee in an IV, à la Lorelai Gilmore, right?
