A Boy With Autism Failed a Test and Got This Moving Letter From His Teacher
A sixth-grade boy with autism failed a standardized high school placement test, but that's not what left his mom in tears. That was all to do with a letter sent to her 11-year-old son Ben Twist from his teacher, Mrs. Clarkson.
The note was mailed from the UK special needs school to his mother Gail, who shared it on Twitter. In it, the sixth-grade educator stressed that "these tests only measure a little bit of you and your abilities."
Not only that, but she went on to list those skills and talents not captured on the exam, which included Ben's kindness, his growing independence, his ability to make and keep friends, and his propensity toward music.
"These are all of the things we measure to reassure us that you are always making progress and continuing to develop as a lovely bright young man," Clarkson concluded. "Well done, Ben. We are very proud of you."
