American Airlines Is in Hot Water Over This Viral Video
On Friday, April 21, Facebook user Surain Adyanthaya uploaded a now-viral video showing an intense altercation between an American Airlines flight attendant and two passengers on board. "OMG! AA Flight attendant violently took a stroller from a lady with her baby on my flight, hitting her and just missing the baby," Adyanthaya wrote. "Then he tried to fight a passenger who stood up for her."
The nearly 3-minute video shows a woman sobbing uncontrollably as she holds on to her baby and pleads with a flight attendant to return her stroller. "No, I'm not just going to sit here and watch this," a man off screen can be heard saying before standing up to confront the flight attendant.
"Hey bud, you do that to me and I'll knock you flat," the male passenger says when the flight attendant returns, prompting a shouting match between the two, which almost escalates into a full-on brawl. "Hit me!" the flight attendant shouts, adding, "You don't even know what the story is."
"I don't care what the story is. You almost hurt a baby," the passenger shouts back in the clip, which now has over 1.5 million views at press time.
American Airlines was swift to react to the video, telling CBS News, "The actions of our team member captured here do not appear to reflect patience or empathy, two values necessary for customer care. In short, we are disappointed by these actions. The American team member has been removed from duty while we immediately investigate this incident."
This comes after a shocking video went viral earlier this month that showed police officers dragging a bloodied man off of a United Airlines flight.
