Asos Is Accused of Cultural Appropriation For This "Chandelier Hair Clip"

Asos is currently facing accusations of cultural appropriation over a product the brand named a "chandelier hair clip," a hair accessory almost identical to a South Asian tikka. Shoppers are not pleased, calling out that it is essentially a maang tikka, or tikli, which is often worn at weddings or other celebratory events.

Many infuriated Twitter users called out Asos's unconscious appropriation of the historical accessory and the lack of respect by referring to the tikka as such. While Asos has not commented on the "chandelier hair clip," it has since been removed from the brand's website. Keep reading to see some of the outraged responses on Twitter.
