Congrats to the Boston Marathon Winners

Today is Patriot's Day and that means it's also the Boston Marathon, and the winners are in!

Women's Race

Edna Kiplagat of Kenya won the women's race! The 37-year-old mother of two finished with a time of 2:21:52. Second-place finisher Rose Chelimo of Bahrain, with a finishing time 2:22:51, was followed by American Jordan Hasay, who placed third in her debut appearance at Boston with a time of 2:23:00

Men's Race

Kenya's Geoffrey Kirui won the men's race, finishing in 2:09:37. American Olympian Galen Rupp, making his Boston debut, placed second, crossing the finish line with at time of 2:09:58. Third place went to Suguru Osako of Japan with a finishing time of 2:10:28.

Women's Wheel Chair Race

Manuela Schär of Switzerland won with a finishing time 1:28:17. This is a new course record, shaving off five minutes and 49 seconds from the previous record. This is also considered a world's best record, too. Finishing times at Boston don't qualify for world records because, as explained by CBS Boston, the straight-line course has a "possibility of a supportive tailwind," and the tailwind was likely in effect today.

Men's Wheel Chair Race

Marcel Hug, also of Switzerland, crossed the finish line in 1:18:03, beating the second-place finisher by only a second. Hug set a new course record and a new world best, too!

Congratulations to the podium finishers of the 121st Boston Marathon and all the other amazing runners and racers on the course. We're impressed by anyone with the mettle to go 26.2 miles.
