Congratulations, You Witnessed This 13 Reasons Why Actor's First Role Ever
13 Reasons Why boasts a collection of strong performances from a cast of mostly young actors, many of whom are just getting their big break with this show. Aside from Dylan Minnette, who assembled quite the résumé as a child actor, most of the stars who play Liberty High's students are unrecognizable - something that benefits the series (which may have been intentional; executive producer Selena Gomez admitted it would have been a distraction if she'd been cast in it). In fact, there are a couple of actors for whom 13 Reasons Why is their first role. One of them is Steven Silver, who plays Marcus Cole, the overachieving jerk who's one of Hannah's reasons for killing herself.
Silver has also starred in a 2011 short film, The Problem With Mr. Withers, but it's safe to say that 13 Reasons Why will be the launching pad for his career. The breakout star handily plays a character who starts out charming and sweet, only to show himself as morally ambiguous and dangerously ambitious. Here's to hoping we see much more of Silver in the coming years.
