Finally! A Good Explanation For Why Some Wedding Veils Are So Freakin' Expensive
While most of us expect a pricey tag on our dream wedding gown, the veil is another story. A quick search and you'll find that the bridal accessory can run upwards to $500. "All this for a piece of tulle?" you might be thinking. But wait, there's actually a very simple explanation for why some veils are so expensive and why it's probably worth splurging on after all. When we spoke to BHLDN's buyer Celine Elefson about this topic, she revealed the more work that goes into a veil, the more it'll cost. Simple.
"Anything with the French lace whether it's chantilly lace or Alençon lace, those are the two we [BHLDN] offer now, it's going to be more expensive just because of the material and where we're getting it from," Celine said. "In general veils should be a little bit pricier because of the handwork it takes to cut them; cutting tulle is really difficult and labor intensive."
Not only did Celine confirm what we previously assumed was true, but that additional elements to a veil such as floral or lace embellishments can up the price even more. So brides, when you're ready to select your dream veil it's OK if you fall in love with a more expensive piece. Consider both the material and artisan work that went into it, and that penny will be worth it. For brides on a budget, don't worry, we have you covered, too. We found some pretty affordable options below that don't lack in style or taste.
