Gina Rodriguez Is About to Play Another Virgin - This Time, a Very Historical One
Though she may be known for playing Jane the Virgin's titular character, Gina Rodriguez is about to portray the Virgin Mary in the upcoming holiday movie, The Star. The animated movie will tell the story of Bo, a donkey, and his journey in the days leading up to the first-ever Christmas.
Gina will voice the mother of Jesus opposite Zachary Levi, who will be portraying Joseph. In addition, the cast includes a long list of notable celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey, Kristin Chenoweth, Kelly Clarkson, and more. What's more, The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun will voice Bo.
The Star will be available in theaters nationwide starting Nov. 10. In the meantime, see a picture of Gina's character, below. Mary will be the second animated character Gina will play, as she will soon voice Carmen Sandiego in an upcoming Netflix reboot.
