Karma Alert: People Shouted "You Lie" at the Congressman Who Did the Same to Obama
Karma isn't always quick, but it sure comes at you eventually. That's the lesson Representative Joe Wilson learned at a town hall on April 10. Wilson, who infamously shouted "You lie" to former President Barack Obama during a joint session of Congress in 2009, had the same happen to him during a town hall meeting.
The town hall meeting, which took place at Aiken Technical College in South Carolina, covered a variety of topics such as Obamacare and President Donald Trump. However, when Wilson mentioned that he supports any effort to reduce violence against women, the crowed started chanting "You lie," reports The Post and Courier. You can watch the moment ahead.
Despite the angry chants and outbursts throughout the town hall, Wilson apparently believes the event was successful. A spokeswoman for Wilson, Leacy Burke, told the The New York Times that the "you lie" moment was "less than a minute of a positive event that lasted nearly two hours where the congressman engaged with his constituents both in a town hall format and one-on-one after the official program ended."
