Little Girl Called Out Her School's Toilet Paper as Being "Worse Than Jail"
A first grader is teaching her school a tough lesson: they have a serious bathroom problem that she won't let be swept under the rug.
The little girl from Missouri took issue with the school's toilet paper, and when she tried to speak up about the issue, none of the adults took her complaint seriously. "I kept telling them and they just ignored me, so I brought a sample home," Penny told Fox 2.
From there, the 6-year-old's experiment began as she compared pieces of her school's toilet paper the brand her family uses at home. "Penny had a theory about the toilet paper and, by this point, she had told us she thought it was worse than jail," Lynn Hoffman, Penny's mom, said.
The child didn't stop after comparing it to her family's brand; she also asked for samples from friends and family. Word spread to a family member who works at the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and he sent a roll of toilet paper from the St. Louis City Justice Center along with a sworn letter of authenticity.
After recording her findings and creating an official presentation with her results, Penny took her study to the head of her school. "This is the first time I've had a 6-year-old with a full presentation like this, so I was really proud of her," Carmen Trails Grade School's principal, Gina Piccinni, said.
Along with how bad the school's toilet paper is, there's something else that everyone can learn from Penny's project. "It ends with a note that says, 'Continue to respectfully stand up for what you believe in,'" Lynn said. "Which, I think, is a really cool message."
So far Penny's hard work hasn't paid off as the school has yet to make any meaningful changes in the bathroom based on her findings. "It's the same and I can't believe I use this," Penny added.
