Mom-to-Be Shares Her Elderly Grandma's Hilarious Comments on Pregnancy
If you've ever felt personally (but lovingly) victimized by your grandmother's no filter attitude, you're not alone (just the other week my grandma told me that my hair, which hasn't changed in years, looks thin and sad). However, because of the generational gap, we tend to give our elderly family members a bit more of a pass, which is what one pregnant woman is trying to do. The mom-to-be, who goes by mysticalapostasy on Reddit, shared with other users her grandma's pearls of pregnancy "wisdom" under the title, "Grandmas Say the Darndest Things."
"My elderly grandma has been weighing in on my pregnancy every chance she gets, and comes out with some pretty crazy things," she wrote. "Thought I'd share a few of her more memorable quotes that, quite frankly, I think only those of advancing years could get away with. Hopefully they'll give you a laugh."
"I feel like it's MY baby. That's not weird, is it?"
"You've put loads of weight on. Not on your belly though. Everywhere else."
"At least you don't look pregnant from the back."
"You're looking good for being pregnant. But only because you're tall."
"People keep asking me how you're doing. It gets me really annoyed so I keep telling them you're only pregnant, not ill, they don't need to ask how you're doing."
"Is he kicking? I bet he's angry at you."
"I've never known anyone be pregnant as long as you. Push it out already!" (said on multiple occasions from about 16 weeks onwards)
"I was excited when you told me you were pregnant. Now I'm just bored of it."
"I bet he's going to be a fat baby. He's never going to stop eating."
Ahhh, grandmas . . . they really do mean well (we think).
