Rainbow Glitter Breast Milk Crystals Exist - and They're Pretty Magical

Although some have recently learned that healing crystal dildos exist to soothe your vagina, many still don't know that there are other intimate crystals available that have an entirely different yet equally powerful purpose.

Aletha Ely of The Glittered Acorn is the artist behind handmade, wearable keepsakes made from various "real-life inclusions," including locks of pet or human hair, cremation remains, dried flowers, placenta, teeth, pregnancy test strips, umbilical cords, and now breast milk.

"I started seeing breast milk jewelry available and knew that was something I wanted to celebrate, this time of my life and my babies," she told POPSUGAR. "I'm a very natural-minded person, super sentimental, and a keepsake such as this means more to me than anything available at a jewelry store."

Her most recent creation is a glittering rainbow crystal pendant made from breast milk, and the story behind this "crystal" is just as jaw dropping as the product itself. A client first contacted the artist about crafting such a meaningful piece of jewelry in honor of her "rainbow baby," which is a term many moms use to refer to babies conceived after a miscarriage or a still birth. These little ones represent the bright light after a dark storm and the term honors both a mom's grief as well as her new joy.

For Aletha, this project was even more meaningful because she is a stay-at-home mom herself and she considers exclusively breastfeeding her girls to be one of her biggest achievements in life and prides herself on being able to capture that bond for others, especially in this wearable form. "The bond is like nothing else that I can put words to; to sustain a life with your own body is truly an amazing thing," she said. "To create a keepsake that celebrates the breastfeeding journey between a mother and child, plus adding in the rainbow factor, I was truly thrilled to do so!"

It took Aletha years to perfect her process for turning breast milk into a wearable crystal form, but she didn't give up until she perfected the art.

"I was determined to fine-tune my method to get it right and it's definitely a long process to take a liquid and turn it into a solid, wearable form," she said. "As with most breast milk keepsake artists, we keep our methods close to heart as it truly is a lot of work."

For those who don't necessarily understand the concept of turning your breast milk into crystal or wanting to wear it after your breastfeeding journey is over, Aletha has a simple explanation. "I believe these unique, personal keepsakes appeal to others as they are an actual piece from a stage or story in their life. It reminds me of scrapbook in a way," she said. "Your keepsake pieces tell a story that no other person has."
