Recall Alert! Campbell's Has Recalled 4,000 Pounds of This Chicken Soup
Campbell's has issued a voluntary recall of its Healthy Request Chicken With Whole Grain Pasta Soup due to mislabeling and undeclared allergens. The recall applies to 18.6-ounce cans of Campbells Homestyle Healthy Request Chicken With Whole Grain Pasta with best-by date of Feb. 13, 2019, and the company claims to have recalled approximately 4,185 pounds of the canned soup. The reason for the recall is that the soup contains milk even though milk isn't listed on the label. There was a mix-up and some of these cans of "chicken" soup are actually Campbell's Homestyle Healthy Request Italian-Style Wedding Spinach & Meatballs in Chicken Broth soup, which does contain milk.
According to the USDA's statement about the Campbell's recall, "The problem was discovered on April 20, 2017 when the firm received notification from their corporate office of multiple consumer complaints of the wrong product noticed inside the cans. The products were labeled as 'Campbell's Homestyle Healthy Request Chicken With Whole Grain Pasta' but actually contain 'Campbell's Homestyle Healthy Request Italian-Style Wedding Spinach & Meatballs in Chicken Broth' soup."
If you or your child have a milk allergy, it's probably best to avoid this product to be sure you're in the clear, and if you have concerns about soup you've already purchased, Campbell's encourages you to contact Consumer Affairs at (866) 400-0965.
