The Handmaid's Tale: Blink and You Might Miss the Author's Cameo
The Handmaid's Tale is easily one of the most anticipated book to TV adaptations coming out this year, and its author, Margaret Atwood, had a major hand in the series (in more ways than one). Not only was she instrumental in the writing process, but it turns out, she also makes a quick cameo in the first episode. During recent a Tribeca Film Festival panel for the Hulu series, showrunner Bruce Miller revealed that she plays an aunt (a high-ranking woman who presides over other women) who slaps Offred (Elisabeth Moss) in the head during the indoctrination scene. Even though she was timid about hitting Moss at first, she eventually got really into it. "She knocked her little bonnet off and it was all really, it was embarrassing," Miller added.
