There's a Heartbreaking Easter Egg That You Probably Missed on 13 Reasons Why
If you've managed to power your way through the gut-wrenching, emotional roller coaster that is 13 Reasons Why, then you're probably searching for a way to cope. Whether you're exploring similar shows to fill the void, making memes or tributes about your feelings, or giving the series another run-through, there's no escaping the emotional wreckage that 13RW leaves behind. And prepare for another round of feelings, because there's a heartbreaking Easter egg - errrr, bunny - on the show that you probably didn't catch the first time around.
I just noticed that clay had put a bunny drawing on Hannah's locker. Now I'm crying#13reasonswhy http://pic.twitter.com/XGbzqzsZ97

Remember those adorable bunny notes that Clay Jensen left in Hannah's communications class compliment bag? Well, an eagle-eyed Twitter user noticed one hanging on Hannah's makeshift locker shrine, tucked among notes and trinkets from grieving students.
We went back to the Zach-focused episode to get another glimpse at Clay's bunny drawings for Hannah, then compared them to the bunny on Hannah's locker in the premiere episode. Sure enough, the style of the two rabbit cartoons is the same. See below:
That means that, sometime before the start of the present-day storyline, Clay had drawn another bunny for Hannah and hung it on her locker. That, or Zach (who had started stealing Hannah's compliments, Clay's drawings included) posted one that he had previously nicked from her communications class pouch. However, considering that Clay stares at Hannah's locker for an extended period in episode one without reacting to the drawing, the latter is unlikely.
Either way, this detail explains - beyond the obvious, which is that he is deeply grieving - why Clay has such a breakdown when he notices that Hannah's locker has been cleaned and reassigned. His last physical gesture of affection for her, the bunny drawing, has been cleared away as well.
Now, excuse us while we go cry all over again.
