When in the Hell Is Jessica Jones Coming Back? And More Season 2 Deets

Hey, remember Jessica Jones? That show you dearly loved for a weekend in 2015? You'd be forgiven if you forgot about it, because it's been over a year and a half since Netflix dropped it in to our lives. Since then, we've had so many more new Netflix obsessions - Stranger Things, the Gilmore Girls revival, a little show called 13 Reasons Why. The only reason we might even still be thinking about Jessica Jones is that Netflix also has a steady stream of Marvel series, and the company recently unveiled the first look at The Defenders, the series that unites Jessica with other Marvel/Netflix characters Luke Cage, Daredevil, and the Iron Fist.
We're excited about The Defenders, but if we're being honest, it's mostly because we're ready to be reunited with Jessica Jones, and it's the first glimpse at her since season one came out in November 2015. Season two is definitely coming - its renewal was announced back in January 2016 - but news has been scarce. That's where we come in, furnishing you with everything we know about the next season of Jessica Jones.
When It's Coming Back
Netflix has not revealed the actual premiere date, but we do have a semblance of an idea after Netflix's Ted Sarandos talked about The Defenders at the 2016 Summer TCA and said that a new season of Jessica Jones wouldn't happen until 2018 at the earliest. It appears that it's right on track; eagle-eyed fans in Manhattan have noticed that filming has started in April in the same location as season one.
The New Cast Member
In early April, Entertainment Weekly reported that English actress Janet McTeer had joined the cast. The Tony-winning star's role is a mystery; we only know that she's playing an "undisclosed character who will have an enormous impact on Jessica's life."

The Incredibly Badass Director Decision
Last October, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg revealed this groundbreaking tidbit: all of season two's episodes will be directed by women. Jessica Jones is already one of the few shows created by a woman, so it's incredible to see it blazing an even bigger trail.
Stay tuned for more details about season two!
