I grew up speaking Spanish at home, and back then I didn't realize how much it would define me. Now, I appreciate being able to speak the language because it's led me to bonding moments with strangers in foreign countries, made it easier to understand where my family comes from because nothing is lost in translation, and created a stronger bond with friends who also speak the language.
