Humans of New York Is Getting Its Own Facebook TV Series - Watch the Trailer Here!
The concept behind Humans of New York - photographing and profiling random people on the streets of the Big Apple - may sound simple on the surface, but its impact has proven to be profoundly deep. Ever since Brandon Stanton started the blog in 2010, it has enthralled fans all over the world, with some stories pulling at heartstrings and others shedding light on hard-hitting topics like poverty and abusive relationships.
After releasing two bestselling books about the project, Stanton is now tackling the world of video by releasing a 12-episode docuseries through Facebook's new "Watch" video tab, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The series will combine 1,200 filmed interviews into 30-minute episodes with diverse subjects sharing their intimate revelations about life and love.
When Stanton shared this news with his Facebook followers, he explained the real reason he wanted to start the series. "Early on I realized that video would add a deeper layer to Humans of New York," he wrote. "At the heart of all these posts are the conversations themselves. I'm often deeply moved by the people I meet. Or they make me laugh. Or they make me think. And I always do my best to recreate the experience through photos and words. But I always knew that video would provide the closest thing to 'actually being there.'"
Each time Stanton posts a photo and quote from the project on its Facebook or Instagram account, it's incredibly powerful, so we can only imagine how impactful it will be in video form. Watch the trailer above for a sneak peek at the series, and be sure to tune in to the first episode next week.
