The White Sand at This Gorgeous Australian Beach Never Gets Hot!
Even some of the most pristine beaches around the world share a flaw of scorching-hot sand in the Summer. There is an exception on the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland, Australia, however, and that's the gorgeous Whitehaven Beach. In addition to its turquoise Coral Sea waters and picturesque landscape, this beach is composed of 98 percent silica, making it even more unique. The white, powder-like sand doesn't retain heat as a result, which means it stays cool even during the hottest part of the day. No more running to the water from your towel and back to avoid burning feet!
Visitors can reach Whitehaven via boat or a short helicopter or seaplane flight. The majority of travelers only make it to the ends of the beach's four-and-half-mile stretch, but the Hill Inlet (the northern end) is absolutely worth seeing. A swirl of blues that make up the inland river system are unlike any other beach you've seen. You've got to see the photos ahead!
