This Clip From the 1979 Solar Eclipse Will Make You Realize Why It's So Special
It's undoubtedly clear by now just how special the solar eclipse will be on Aug. 21. People are traveling to see this incredible phenomenon - just to be in its path of totality. If you want a peek at how moving this experience will be, look no further than ABC News coverage of the last big solar eclipse that occurred in North America - 38 years ago.
The clip follows the solar eclipse that took place on Feb. 26, 1979. Anchor Frank Reynolds leads you through the moment - right up to the solar eclipse happening around the six minute and 30 second mark. Reynolds wraps up the eclipse coverage, by stating, "And as I said, not until August 21, 2017, will another eclipse be visible from North America. That's 38 years from now.
