A Celebrity Trainer Spills His Secrets on How to Get a Victoria's Secret Angel's Butt
It's hard not to be in awe of the figures you see on the runway during the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. The models are radiant and superfit, and we'd be lying if we said we never wondered what they do to maintain their health. Of course, we're sure it doesn't hurt that they were lucky enough to be born into a certain supermodel gene pool.
POPSUGAR spoke to celebrity trainer Michael Blauner, who has worked with many Victoria's Secret models when they're preparing for the big annual show. He spilled a few behind-the-scenes secrets on how these women stay in shape, and we are taking notes.
"I train Victoria's Secret models hard and fast," Michael said. "I mix a ton of different training modalities into each workout. Lots of bodyweight exercises, calisthenics, weightlifting, yoga moves, and cardio, to name a few."
He said strength training is the best way to get a toned look, so you don't need to be doing a ton of cardio if you're trying to shape up. "Strength training tones the body better than most methods," he told POPSUGAR. "You need resistance exercises in order to have your muscles undergo stress that in turn allows them to become conditioned and more toned."
Michael also shared his best tips for someone who is on the hunt for booty gains. "For legs and glutes, nothing works like squats, lunges, and lying supine butt lifts," he said. There you have it! You could design some pretty killer booty workouts by using these exercises.
Although you don't need to be doing that much cardio, that doesn't mean you should give it up entirely. Michael recommends running "at a fast pace" for just 15 minutes, about two or three times a week. That's it.
But no matter what the Angels are doing, Michael tries to keep it fun and constantly changing, so make sure you're keeping your body guessing. That will make it much more enjoyable for you as well.
