A Week After the Most Devastating Shooting in Modern US History, Las Vegas Strip Went Dark
A week after the devastating shooting at a country music festival in Las Vegas, the city came together to honor the 58 victims and hundreds injured in the attack. On the evening of Oct. 8, the strip's most famous marquees went completely dark from 10:05 p.m. to 10:16 p.m. - the exact time the shooting took place.
Though the city appeared pretty illuminated, the contrast between its usual brightness and the 11 minutes of darkness was noticeable. Following the tribute, several marquees read, "When things get dark, Las Vegas shines." That evening, civilians also held a candlelight vigil at a makeshift memorial on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip. See powerful pictures from the city's tribute, ahead.
