Leonardo DiCaprio Is Asking You to Eat More of This to Save Our Planet
Although we know Leonardo DiCaprio as an actor first and foremost, it's impossible to miss out on the important environmental work he's been doing lately. Whether he's leading the People's Climate Change in Washington DC or making Oscar speeches about the pressing urgency of climate change, he's a true advocate for improving the condition of our planet.
Leo has thrown his hat into the environmental rights ring yet again, this time by becoming an official investor and advocate for Beyond Meat, the leading company in creating affordable, sustainable plant-based meat. As of Oct. 17, Leo will be lending a helping hand to the initiative, assisting Beyond Meat in meeting the world's demands for vegan burgers that have very little impact on our environment.
"Livestock production is a major contributor to carbon emissions. Shifting from animal meat to the plant-based meats developed by Beyond Meat is one of the most powerful measures someone can take to reduce their impact on our climate," Leo said in a press release. He truly believes that plant-based meat is the future, and putting time and effort into this cause will make a huge difference for our planet moving forward, since animal agriculture takes such a devastating toll on the environment.
"The company's ability to create healthy meat directly from plants will go a long way in helping everyday consumers take action on climate change," Leo continued.
Beyond Meat has been hitting the shelves all over the country in the last year. It has expanded to more than 2,000 stores, including mainstream grocers Kroger and Albertsons Companies. Here at POPSUGAR, we conducted a taste test on Beyond Meat Beyond Burgers ourselves, and we voted them the best vegan burgers out there! It seems like Beyond Meat's momentum is growing each day.
"I am thrilled to officially welcome Leonardo DiCaprio to the Beyond Meat family," Ethan Brown, CEO of Beyond Meat, said in the press release. "His investment and role as an advocate are proof that he shares our vision for creating satisfying, delicious meat directly from plants in an effort to benefit human health, the environment and animal welfare. Leo was helpful early on in providing feedback on our burgers as we readied them for market. We will continue working together to ensure we develop excellent products that meet the highest standards in environmental friendliness."
