Mom "Learns to Play" Fortnite With the Help of Her Son – And We Can't Stop Stress-Laughing

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, right? That may have been the thought process mom Mayim Bialik was going through when she decided to brush up on her video game skills to better understand her sons' obsession with Fortnite.
The actress asked her 9- and 12-year-old sons to teach her how to play, and she videotaped the entire tutorial. As they guided her through her first "Battle Royale" (what?), she discovered that "the buttons on the controller don't relate to the thing on the screen" and that, as her son Fred explained, she can't have a female avatar because "it costs money to be a lady" ("Excuse me?!" she interrupted, rightfully).
About halfway through, she announced that she's completed her training, despite the fact that looking at the screen made her nauseated ("I don't know if I'm wired for this"). Before anyone watching could beg her to stop, she entered her first game, whatever that means.
Aside from that earlier tangent on the patriarchy, Mayim's focus is impressive. Her skills, however? In addition to asking "what's happening?" every 30 seconds, she, well, lost.
To any non-gamer, the nearly 10-minute video is somehow both anxiety-inducing ("It stresses me out that there's a time limit, there's a storm coming, people are going to shoot me and kill me . . .") and highly addictive. But perhaps that's the whole point.
