There's a reason bladder infections bear the nickname honeymoon cystitis; sex is one of the main culprits when it comes to developing a urinary tract infection. Catherine Cheng, MD, recommended to Whole Living that women shower "between a bowel movement and sex since E. coli can spread easily to the bladder." A simple measure can save you from an icky infection, an expensive doctor's visit, and a week on antibiotics that kill good bacteria along with the bad.
