Helen Mirren Reveals Prince Harry's "Insulting" Nickname For Her, Praises Meghan Markle

Helen Mirren may have played royalty in her Oscar-winning role as Queen Elizabeth II in 2006's The Queen, but that certainly hasn't interfered with her real-life relationship with the British royal family. On Thursday, the actress made a special appearance on Good Morning Britain to help with the launch of this year's Prince's Trust Mentor of the Year award, revealing some fun tidbits about Prince Harry and Prince William. When asked if Prince Charles has ever spoken to her about playing his mom in the film, Helen said no, but that Harry and William have "been very funny and very cool about it." She even revealed the "insulting" nickname Harry once called her (which you can find out in the video below).

Helen also took a moment to praise Meghan Markle and applaud her for dealing with the pressures that come with becoming a royal. "I think right from the moment that relationship was revealed, she conducted herself with incredible self-restraint, elegance, discipline, and simplicity and humanity," she said. "I was an admirer . . . it's an incredibly difficult life to lead, talk about pressure. I think she is doing it with great elegance."

Helen is an ambassador of Charles' Prince's Trust, and in 2017, the actress teamed up with L'Oréal Paris to launch their "All Worth It" campaign. The initiative "aims to turn self-doubt into self-worth." "Overcoming self-doubt is a journey and I am truly happy to see L'Oréal Paris partnering with The Prince's Trust to help many young people who don't believe in themselves," Helen said in a statement. "We have a responsibility towards this generation to lead by example in what we say, how we act, and what we do. I wholeheartedly support this initiative."
