Twitter Is in a Very Intense Debate About . . . Crocs

How do you wear your Crocs? This week, something strange happened on social media. A single tweet about Crocs introduced a new concept: "sports mode." Take a look:
tell me why we were running and taliah said "I CANT KEEP UP!!! MY CROCS ARE NOT ON SPORTS MODE!!!!" 💀 pic.twitter.com/OF68M65gw7

And so ensued a thread of comments about proper Crocs terminology . . . Crocs-ology, if you will. Some people said they call wearing the strap behind the ankle "walk mode" or "four-wheel drive." Some were really into this "sports mode" idea, and others, including me, have only ever seen the strap in front of the ankle. (You can imagine my surprise.)
We asked Crocs directly what they thought about this. Crocs' answer? There's really no wrong way to wear them. "We see our passionate fans share their opinions on 'straps back' vs. 'straps front' on social media and enjoy watching the conversation play out," a spokesperson told POPSUGAR. Plus, he directed us to the product description for the Classic Clog, which states that "pivoting heel straps" provide a "more secure fit." Nothing about "sports mode," but if you want to call it that, go right ahead. We're not stopping you, and neither is Crocs.
This probably goes without saying, but please, please do not confuse "sports mode" for "workout mode." Don't slip on your Crocs to go run a 5k or head to Tabata. Besides the fact that you'll get some serious stares at the gym, sneakers exist for a reason. Read on for some hilarious responses to this Crocs Twitter debate, and ask yourself this: what mode are you in?
