Pose's Second Season Just Started, and It's Already Been Renewed For a Third - It's That Good

Pose is officially coming back for a third season, so consider that another win for the beloved House of Evangelista. Following a second season debut on June 11, FX renewed the groundbreaking show about New York City ballroom culture in the late '80s and early '90s. The early renewal comes after said season two premiere brought in the highest viewership yet, with 1.2 million viewers, according to Deadline.

"Pose has elevated our culture and the TV landscape like few shows before it," said FX Chairman John Landgraf in a statement. Indya Moore, who portrays Angel Evangelista, celebrated the exciting news on Instagram and wrote, "This is so incredibly meaningful and timely. The world needs Pose. We need Pose. I need Pose."

When it first premiered in 2018, Pose made history as the scripted series with the most transgender actors appearing as series regulars ever. The show has also gone on to receive numerous accolades. It was nominated for best drama series at the 2019 Golden Globes and Critics' Choice Television Awards, while Billy Porter was nominated at both awards shows for his portrayal of Pray Tell. Pose has also received a GLAAD Media Award and was among the entertainment honorees at the 2018 Peabody Awards.

Unfortunately, Pose was ineligible for consideration at the 2018 Emmy Awards because its premiere date missed the cutoff by a few days, but that means it will have a chance at this year's Emmys on Sept. 22. Stay tuned: nominations are announced July 16.
