I Get So Many Compliments on My "Cute White Table," but It's Actually a Trash Can!

When I set up my home office space in our kitchen, the one thing I knew had to go was our bulky, eyesore of a trash can. The only place for my desk to fit in the small space was next to it, so if I was going to be working alongside a trash can for the foreseeable future, it better be a cute one. Alas, did a stylish, functional waste vessel exist? I'm happy to report it does exist, and I can't stop raving about it: the Brabantia Bo Touch Trash Can ($152).
Brabantia has a number of modern-looking bins to choose from depending on what size, color, material, and function you're looking for, but the one I selected fit the following requirements: it's on the small side (we take out our trash once a week), it has two removable buckets so we can separate our recycling, it opens with the press of a finger (see it in action ahead), and it has legs so we don't have to bend down. We've had it for a few months now, and while it is a bit of a splurge for a trash can, I'm so happy we went with this one.
The removable buckets making taking out the trash a breeze, it's a cinch to wipe down, and the soft touch feature makes it super convenient to open and close when your hands are full or messy. The only downside is minor, but the trash bag sizes aren't standard US sizes, so once you use up the ones it comes with (I think it only came with two or three), you either have to special order the expensive Brabantia bags or make do with standard sizes. We just use bags that are close enough (a little on the big side), and with the way the buckets fit inside the larger container, it works fine.
Seriously, this is such a simple home upgrade that makes a huge difference, I can't recommend it enough. I've even had more than one friend compliment my "cute white table" before I filled them in on its true purpose (usually prompting a "where can I buy that?" response). Now I don't even notice that I'm working next to a trash can, in fact, I actually like looking at it every day!
I ordered our Brabantia trash can on Amazon for the price, ease of shipping, and style/color, but it's also available at Wayfair, Pottery Barn, Bed Bath & Beyond, Crate and Barrel, The Container Store, and other home retailers. There are multiple color and size options, in addition to the choice between one, two, or three buckets.
See how the Brabantia trash can looks in our space, and shop it ahead!
