Healthy lifestyle

A healthy lifestyle is one which helps to keep and improve people's health and well-being.Many governments and non-governmental organizations have made big efforts in healthy lifestyle and health promotion.

Mental Health

Mental health can be considered a very important factor of physical health for the effects it produces on bodily functions. This type of health concerns emotional and cognitive well-being or an absence of mental disorder.

Public health

Public health can be defined in a variety of ways. It can be presented as "the study of the physical, psychosocial and socio-cultural determinants of population health and actions to improve the health of the population.

Reproductive Health

For the UN, reproductive health is a right, like other human rights. This recent concept evokes the good transmission of the genetic heritage from one generation to the next.

Health

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

Healthy,Food Magazine,Healthy Recipes,Food Guide :This Video of Exploding Gnocchi Will Make You Laugh Until You Cry

As full-blown pasta addicts, we'll consume heaps of its starchy goodness regardless of the preparation, whether it's a creamy mac and cheese or a plate of iconic spaghetti and meatballs. We especially love gnocchi. The chewy pillows of potato dough lend themselves well to any of your favorite sauces, including pesto and alfredo. But despite their versatility, this video from Webstaurant Store proves that not all cooking methods work well on gnocchi.

The brand's product specialist, Steve Ziegler, planned on making a batch of buffalo-style gnocchi and started by deep-frying the little dumplings. When they didn't start to rise to the surface of the oil, however, Ziegler decided to raise the heat. As they turned golden brown, he began scooping them out - when a gnocco suddenly exploded out of the pot and across the room! He quickly fished them all from the oil and laid them on a cooling rack, but that's when the gnocchi started bursting like fireworks.

See for yourself: the hilarity of detonating dumplings (and Ziegler's giggles) will have you laughing out loud. Plus, you'll learn an important lesson . . . never fry gnocchi.

Healthy,Food Magazine,Healthy Recipes,Food Guide :How to Make a First Aid Kit For Lunch

Sad desk lunches are all too common of an occurrence. There's no need to be merely satiated by your midday meal when you could be satisfied instead. Whether you're noshing on leftovers, picking up some so-so sushi from the Japanese restaurant down the street, or raiding your office's kitchen for a quick fix, this DIY first aid kit for lunch can come to the rescue.

Here's What You'll Need

  • A container of some sort: Keep things organized by tucking all the components into a container, rather than letting everything roll around in your desk drawer.
Pictured: The Container Store Rectangular Tin ($5)
  • Nut-butter packets: Swirl it into instant oatmeal, make a PB&J (or almond butter toast), or nosh on it with apple slices.
    Pictured: Justin's Squeeze Packs ($12 for 10)
Alternative: Barney Butter ($10 for 12)
  • Soy sauce: For Asian takeout or leftovers, and adding umami to soup.
Pictured: Little Soya ($13 for 12)
  • Olive oil: For drizzling on soup and adding richness to salads and leftovers.
Pictured: Eliunt Sonoma Olive Oil ($44 for three)
Alternative: Decant your favorite olive oil from a large bottle into a Dressing to Go pod ($5).
  • Hot sauce: For spicing up just about anything.
Pictured: Dave's Insanity Cool Cayenne ($9 for four)
Alternative: Tabasco ($1); decant sriracha into a Sriracha2Go bottle ($6).
  • Honey: Drizzle it on Greek yogurt or oatmeal, or use it to sweeten tea.
    Pictured: Honeypax ($12 for 10)
  • Sea salt: For seasoning to taste.
    Pictured: Jacobsen Slide Tin ($3)
    Alternative: Maldon Slide Tin ($2)
  • Shout wipes: For accidents; seriously, don't skip adding these to your kit.
Pictured: Shout Wipes ($6 for 12)
  • Red pepper flakes: For spicing things up and sprinkling on soup.
Pictured: One of those disposable containers that comes with delivery pizza.

Of course, consider these components merely as suggestions; pick and choose what suits your lifestyle. Some other things you might want to consider adding include maple syrup for oatmeal (just make sure to pick a small container and consume it quickly, as it will eventually spoil at room temperature), disposable chopsticks for tidily eating salad, or vinegar for adding zip to salads and soups.

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: Icicle Hair Is the Coolest New Winter Beauty Trend

Though the holidays may have ended, we're still desperately holding on to our love of glitter. Winter is the best season to rock a little sparkle, even when it's no longer a festive choice: adding silver and gold bling to your look mimics the sun shimmering off a fresh snowfall.

Instead of adding a twinkle to your tresses via mascara, NYC-based extension and blowout bar RPZL is offering a more durable option: glittery extensions! The aptly named "hair icicles" are made of 100 percent Remy virgin hair. Once applied, the wefts look like streaks of sparkle.

Not only will this fun accessory sate your glitter craving, they're an easy, low-commitment way to try out a unicorn-approved mane. They're only $25 per weft, and unlike standard rainbow strands, no bleach is necessary. Read on to see more shots of hair icicles.

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: Kylie Jenner Announced She Is Creating More Lip Kit Colors and Makeup

Though Kylie Jenner admitted that she got lip injections (rather than her previous claims about using a lot of liner), she is still capitalizing on the idea that beauty goodies can give you a rather plump pout. So she went into the business of creating pucker products in the form of the Kylie Lip Kit.

The teenage reality star revealed this news on Instagram with a photo of her wearing a vampy chocolate lip color that we can assume is part of the KLK. We believe she got help from her makeup artist Hrush Achemyan, who shared a similar photo of Kylie.

When asked whether it includes lip glosses, lipsticks, or pencils, she told Yahoo: "I'm going to keep that a secret, but it's a kit and I am super invested. I have been going to the factories, making the shades perfect, because I'm super particular about my lip color. I wanted to make three perfect shades to start off."

Though the shades keep selling out online at lipkitbykylie.com ($29 each), Kylie revealed on her app that she plans to add more color and expand her makeup line. This means, she will be restocking it (woohoo!). To get fans revved for the first launch of the kids, she released images via @lipkitbykylie of the packaging, lip glosses, lip pencils, and swatches. And we predict she will do the same for the second iteration.

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:Welcome to the 2-Week Clean-Eating Plan - You're Going to Love It

Start the New Year with a clean slate by following our Two-Week Clean-Eating Plan created by the registered dietitians Stephanie Clarke and Willow Jarosh of C&J Nutrition. The homemade meals, snacks, and treats - yes, you can have a lil' something-something daily to help keep you on track - focus on fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean proteins. We have printable shopping lists for each week as well as an easy-to-follow daily rundown of what to get, prep, make, and save, and when. The plan is alcohol free (time to give up the partying now that the holidays are over), but you can have your morning cup of caffeine. But since the plan is dairy free, you will be drinking your daily cup of coffee or tea without the additional half-and-half.

All the meals, snacks, and treats included and add up to about 1,600 calories per day. The carb, protein, and fat ration is close to 50:20:30. The carbs are high fiber and minimally processed. The protein is lean, and the fats are primarily plant-based. And all the food is tasty.

How the Plan Works

The 14-day plan is divided into two weeks, with a separate shopping list for each. The first day of each week is your prep day when you wash, chop, and store many ingredients you will be cooking with throughout the week. On your prep day and during the week, you will prepare multiple servings of some recipes, as well extra portions of certain dishes, to eat as leftovers later in the week. Talk about convenience. Heck! You might have even noticed that some dishes taste better the second day.

While you can start the program on any day of the week, you need to follow it in sequence since this plan uses leftovers throughout each week. To help you prep and plan, we have created a rundown of the daily meals and a to-do list for each week. Think of this as your cheat sheet: print it out and put it on your fridge so you can easily follow along.

Prep Ahead For Ease

Prep days are important, and honestly, we think the commitment of planning ahead will help you stick to the program. On days one and eight, there is plenty of slicing and dicing to be done and a good amount of cooking. Plan to set aside two to three hours for prep and cook time. It's also a great idea to think about a day in the middle of the week that might work for doing a small amount of prep for the end of the week.

Tips For Success

  • Shop Early: Plan your grocery shopping day one day ahead of your prep day, if possible, since shopping and cooking all in one day can be a little daunting. And since you are only shopping once each week, you will be freezing some fish and chicken. Just make sure to start thawing those items the day before, but don't worry - we remind you about it in the daily rundown.
  • Bulk Bins: Shop the bulk bins to save money by ensuring you have just the amount you need and no more. Look for nuts, seeds, spices, tea, dry goods, and even chocolate in the bulk bins of your local grocery store.
  • Clear Containers: Store prepped produce and other ingredients in clear containers. The more you can see what's in the fridge, the more likely you are to eat it and not forget about it!
  • Freeze Meals: In this plan, you will be making extra portions of food - not only to use during this two-week plan, but also to freeze some for later. We suggest freezing extras right away in individual portions - be sure to label them. This works especially well with soups, sauces, and baked goods. This way you can conveniently eat clean after you've completed the plan. Another option, on the days when you make portions not used on the plan, invite some friends over! Eating clean doesn't mean you can't socialize.

We're sure you have a few questions, so do check out our Frequently Asked Questions, and hopefully you will find your answers there.

Healthy,Food Magazine,Healthy Recipes,Food Guide :Starbucks's Newest Drink Is About as Far From a Frappuccino as You Can Get

Starbucks may be best known for its sweet seasonal lattes and frappuccinos, but serious coffee drinkers may want to take note of the chains latest beverage, available Jan. 5.

Made with a mere two ingredients - frothy steamed milk and espresso - the latte macchiato is not a proprietary drink; rather, it's a variation on a caffè macchiato. (Traditionally, the difference lies in the ratio of milk to espresso.) While both drinks are assembled by pouring steamed milk into a mug before adding the espresso, a caffè macchiato is heavier on the espresso, while a latte macchiato is heavier on the milk.

It'll be interesting to see if Starbucks's take on this European classic is true to this traditional formula. As is shown, the brand is positioning it as somewhere in between a caffè Americano and a flat white in intensity, which would imply that it's closer in preparation to a traditional caffè macchiato. Either way, we're excited to try it out.

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: This Real-Life Rapunzel Family Has Never Cut Their Hair

We all have reached a point in time where we've decided to put down the scissors and let our mane grow. Some of us wistfully aim for ultralong locks, and some will settle for two to three added inches. But 43-year-old Tere Lynn Svetlecich Russell gives #longhairdontcare a whole new meaning - she's left her strands untouched for her entire life. Today, she sports an unimaginable 74 inches of hair.

The mom of five has been dubbed the "Real Life Rapunzel," thanks to lengthy locks that easily graze the ground. Tere Lynn has never let a pair of shears near her mane, and her daughters, Callan, Cendalyn, and Chesney, have been carefully following suit. They each rock 37 inches, 36 inches, and 27 inches of hair, respectively.

In case you haven't been keeping track, the women collectively have over 13 feet of tresses. We can only imagine what a normal shampoo day looks like in their household! Tere Lynn revealed that her daughters also require the help of a handheld showerhead and use about a quarter of a bottle of conditioner with every wash.

What might shock you even more is that the girls have never been to a salon - you'll see their first visit in the video. We had hoped to witness a major chop, but the girls instead opted for just treatments and styling. Tere Lynn is even seen getting a fishtail braid that she described as "a little painful."

She won't be forcing a lifetime of long hair onto her children, though. Tere Lynn claims that when they're mature enough, her daughters will be able to decide whether or not they'd like to submit their strands to scissors. Whether you've dreamed of superlong locks or prefer your cropped coif, the Rapunzel family's story is sure to leave your mind blown. Watch and see for yourself.

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: 8 DIY Bridal Hair Ideas That Will Make You Ditch Your Stylist on the Big Day

Wedding planning can be a nightmare - and while Pinterest can be a huge asset in figuring out your look, it also provides so many choices that it can be confusing. That's why we called in celebrity hairstylist (and DIY genius) Sarah Potempa to help curate a week's worth of bridal hairstyles (plus one bonus lewk!) that fit an array of personalities and preferences. Consider this your one-stop shop for hair-spiration.

If you're not familiar with Sarah, then you need to start following her on Instagram stat. Last year, she challenged herself to share 100 days of fresh hairdos on the social media outlet. This year, she created 365 days of braids (for real!). Not only does she have many celebrity clients - like Lea Michele and Margot Robbie - but she's also the mastermind behind the first-ever rotating curling iron, The Beachwaver. We know that is a lot of awesomeness to take in, and if you think Sarah is the unicorn of the hair beauty biz, then you're not alone.

Here, she offers advice on getting prepped for the big day. "On your wedding day, you should feel like an elevated version of yourself," Sarah says. "If you always wear your hair down, find your dream down hairstyle. The same goes for if you always wear your hair up. This will make you feel superglam but comfortable at the same time. Also, it is important to do hair trials to see how that style feels and lasts all day. I love to wear my hair down but wanted a look that I wouldn't normally wear day-to-day. For my wedding day, I went with classic old Hollywood. It was perfect and lasted all day long!"

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: Skin Care Secrets From Women Who Work Out (Almost) Every Day

As a beauty girl, I have a love-hate relationship with the gym. I love it because it's the perfect opportunity to test out all the sample-size products I've been hoarding. I hate it because sweating ruins my hair for the entire week, and I always end up with a pimple.

When I do get to a class, I find myself glaring at the instructor with envy. How does she stay so put together after 20 reps of burpees? Her ponytail is perfect, her skin is flushed but not breaking out, and her abs - ugh. That's why I went straight to my #fitspo favorites to find out what's in their gym bag beauty arsenal, from the best face wipes to the strongest antiperspirant. Now that all my fitness issues are solved, maybe I'll sign up for that SoulCycle class . . . or not.

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: 10 Ways to Have More Gorgeous Skin in 2016

I always had an inkling that my skin is sensitive, but I didn't know until I knew. It started two years ago with a rash on my neck, caused by an allergy to nickel. Trust me: when you're wearing scarves in the middle of August to conceal a breakout, you can't be in denial.

As time progressed, my skin continue to flare up. Until one day, when I was red, dry, and itchy from my forehead to my shoulders, I decided it was time to take control of the situation. First: admit to myself I have very sensitive epidermis; then, revamp my skin care routine.

So, I embarked on a journey, meeting with dermatologists to detect my metal allergy and also discover my rosacea. This is a skin condition that appears in the form of redness and bumps, often caused by products, alcohol, heat, stress, and other triggers. Saying goodbye to some of my favorite cleansers, moisturizers, and makeup wasn't easy. Letting go of the jewelry was heartbreaking. But it made room for me to bring in new products that agreed with my skin and nickel-free baubles that would keep me rash-free.

There are a slew of gentle products from drugstore by brands like Cetaphil and Simple. And I love my organic labels, such as Tata Harper and Eminence. But there seemed to be a lack in the luxury market when it came to more minimal skin care. That's why it was pretty groundbreaking in October when Chanel announced the launch of its new moisturizer, La Solution 10 de Chanel Sensitive Skin Cream.

Chanel teamed up with top NYC dermatologist Dr. Amy Wechsler to create an alcohol-free, fragrance-free, and oil-free face lotion that contains only 10 ingredients. They are all listed on the bottle: water, vegetable squalane, soft powder, glycerin, silver needle tea extract (an antioxidant star of the lineup), shea butter extract, emollient, emulsifier, humectant, and preservative. The white cream comes out of the chic bottle as a butter but blends to feel as light as a serum. It's soothing and lovely - and I can't get enough of it!

After using it for months (we editors get a sneak peek of these top launches before they hits consumers), I had to meet the woman behind this genius product. So I booked a session with Dr. Wechsler at her NYC office. After, we sat and drank tea (fittingly), discussing the biggest mistakes people with sensitive skin often make. Whether you already have easily irritated epidermis or just want to take better care of yourself, keep reading to learn how to revamp your daily routine.

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:4 Things I Wish I'd Known at the Start of My Weight-Loss Journey

I was no stranger to the freshman 15 in college - in fact, I experienced something closer to the freshman 30. It wasn't until I saw a photo of myself heading into my sophomore year that I realized I was carrying quite a few extra pounds and that it was time to do something about it. It took me a very long time to lose the weight (we're talking not until after graduation), all because I thought I knew what I was doing. Boy, was I wrong. Here are four things I wish I'd known at the start of my weight-loss journey.

Get That Spoon Out of the Jar!

While peanut butter is full of heart-healthy fats, it's not void of calories - one tablespoon contains 105. I found myself spooning it straight out of the jar, wondering why my jeans weren't any looser. This is important to remember with all healthy foods: just because they aren't considered junky doesn't mean you can eat as much as you want. Be aware of portion sizes when it comes to whole grains, nuts, seeds, and health-food-store snacks.

No Meat, No Dairy

My two roommates in college were tall, skinny, and vegan, so I thought eating a plant-based diet was the key to dropping pounds. I may have ditched animal products, but I ended up eating tons of pasta, bread, french fries, dairy-free ice cream, and vegan chocolate cupcakes instead. Had I focused on fresh fruits, veggies, legumes, and whole grains, a vegan diet might have helped me reach my weight-loss goal, but my junk-food vegan diet actually caused me to gain weight.

Related: I Had No Idea What Giving Up Dairy Would Do to My Body

How About a Walk?

Walking is definitely a better workout than just sitting on the couch, so I thought strolling through the mall and walking to class would do the trick. But walking isn't a major calorie burner like running. When it comes to losing weight, you need to burn or cut out 3,500 calories a week to lose a pound. A 30-minute walk only burns around 122 calories, which is well under the 500 it takes to affect a weekly weigh-in. If you want to lose weight, you'll need to kick up the intensity and the length of your workouts.

Time to Dig In

After hitting a Step class with my college roommate, we'd hit the dining hall and fuel up. We worked out, so we deserved it, right? Little did I know I was undoing all the good I had done and actually eating way more than I had burned, which was making the scale numbers go even higher. If you need a little workout reward, don't do it with food. Download some new songs on iTunes, pick up a fitness mag, or buy yourself a new top to motivate you to get to the gym.

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: Why the Most Important Part of a Good Blush Isn't Actually the Color

I've always had trouble getting out of bed in the morning, and despite my nightly resolutions to wake up early(ish) and make myself pretty, it rarely happens. Luckily for me, my commute in the morning is anywhere between 25 minutes and an hour - plenty of time for a swift makeup application. Because this is common with working ladies such as myself, makeup brands have adapted their products, prioritizing making quality applicators to go along with their compact products. Companies have created sleek ways to apply lip gloss, mascara, and powder, but one product remains a blindspot: blush.

I have a giant blush brush in a mug in my bathroom, but I don't want to tote it around all day. Thus, having an affordable blush with a built-in applicator is at the top of my must list. It might sound silly, but it makes a big difference! I went ahead and checked out the leading drugstore brands, so you don't have to sacrifice your cheeks in the name of science - just read on and find out what I loved. Disclaimer: I only reviewed the brushes, not the actual blush itself.

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:It's Chill Day - but Let's Plan Ahead

Welcome to your first rest day! But let's get something clear - chilling out means easing up from gas pedal, not taking a full-on break. Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:Why Beans Make a Big Difference in Weight Loss

Beans may be known mostly for their unpleasant odiferous side effect when eaten, but beans are actually nutritious little gems. If you follow these tips, you can eat beans without the bloat, which means you can reap these weight-loss benefits. Here are three reasons to plate-up with beans.

Hello, Fiber!

While the fiber content of beans helps keep things moving, it also gives you that "I'm full" feeling. Satiating your hunger is the key to preventing overeating and consuming too many calories for the day. But you don't just need to eat a plate of plain beans; in fact, you can add beans to smoothies - you won't be able to taste them at all. Or throw them in your scrambled eggs, add them to soups, pasta dishes, or as a topping on homemade pizza.

Protein Punch

Beans aren't just for vegetarians. Omnivores can soak up bean protein as well. High-protein beans help keep energy and blood-sugar levels stable, which helps prevent cravings for sugary pick-me-ups that tend to be high in calories and void of nutrition. Since a couple hours between meals tends to be common crash times, including beans for breakfast and lunch will keep you peppy until your next meal. Whip up a sweet potato, chickpea, and quinoa veggie burger, a plate of polenta with beans, or a satisfying bowl of slow cooker chickpea coconut curry.

Smart Snacking

When trying to beat the scale, you need to make sure that you're eating quality foods low in calories and high in nutrition. Beans make perfect snacks too, so look beyond the typical carrot sticks and hummus pick-me-up and try pairing your fruit with this chocolate hummus. You can snack on honey-roasted cinnamon chickpeas, veggies with creamy white-bean dip, or these delicious edamame pear crostinis. You can also enjoy a low-cal dessert with fortified with beans, like these peanut butter oatmeal raisin cookies or black bean brownies.

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:The Habit That Will Help You Lose the Extra Weight

Feel like you've got a little extra padding to deal with? The health experts at Harvard have an answer for you to help you shed the weight: keep your glycemic index (GI) chart handy.

In the December issue of Harvard Health Review, researchers note that it's not fat that you should be worried about if you are watching your weight - it's refined carbs. Recent studies have shown that refined carbs and simple sugars may be worse for your heart than saturated fats and that sticking to a low-carb, high-protein diet is the key to weight-loss success. But since we can't live off BBQ meats alone, here's a simple solution: when faced with carb choices, go with low-GI foods, which slow down the rate that glucose (sugar) gets introduced into your body. High-GI foods, in contrast, cause a spike in your blood sugar as well as insulin, causing you to crave more sugary foods when your glucose levels drop.

The GI index ranks foods on a zero to 100 scale; in general, a GI of 1 to 55 is low, 56 to 69 is medium, and 70 to 100 is high - you should limit these high-ranking foods in your diet. If you know your GI values, you'll know that you need to avoid white rice, white flour, and packaged cereals, and choose whole grains, whole fruits, and other complex carbs instead. You can also choose foods that are low on the glycemic load scale, which measures the blood-sugar-raising power of that food. A glycemic load of 10 or less is low, 11 to 19 is medium, and 20 or more is high.

Following the glycemic index isn't a new concept, but it's a useful way to keep your eating habits in check when on the go. Knowing your numbers is a quick way to help ensure that you're making smarter choices whether you're at a party or just looking to get back on track. Check out a handy GI chart of a few foods below, and check out a list of GI and glycemic load values of 100 common foods here.
