It's not Spring until the first tulip blossoms make their much-anticipated appearance. To celebrate these lovely perennials, we've gathered the most bizarre, historic, and all around interesting facts we could find on them.

Check them out below and then start fantasizing about all the beautiful ways you can display your stems.

1. Tulips originated in Central Asia hundreds of years ago and were brought to Turkey, where they became an important part of the local culture

2. The word "tulip" comes from the Turkish word for turban. This name is sometimes attributed to the tulip's turban-like shape and other times is thought to have been because the Turkish would wear a tulip stem in their turbans

3. Tulips migrated to Europe in the mid 16th century and where a phenomenon in the Netherlands by the 17th century

4. So called Tulip Mania hit during the Dutch Golden Age, causing the tulip market to bubble to huge proportions before crashing down. It was one of the first-ever speculative market bubbles

5. At the peak of Tulip Mania, from around 1634-1637, some single bulbs were said to be priced more than ten times the annual income of wealthy skilled craftsman

6. The Netherlands are still the world's largest producer and exporter of tulips worldwide

7. There are 75 recognized species of tulips and over 3000 varieties

8. The gorgeous streaking that paints the petals of some tulips was originally caused by a viral infection, but today this desirable broken coloring effect is the deliberate result of breeding

9. Tulips start as bulbs, which are living plants with self-contained nutrients rather than seeds

10. Bulbs must be planted in the Fall if they are to blossom in the Spring because a long, dormant period of cool temperatures is needed in order for the biochemistry to occur that causes them to flower

11. Tulips can also be "forced" into blooming if they are stored in a cold place like the refrigerator for a minimum of 12 weeks

12. Tulips are part of the Lily family and are classified a herbaceous perennials

13. Their petals are said to be edible, but unpleasant tasting; however, we don't recommend eating them

14. They come in a myriad of colors but the most famous is Queen of the Night, a dark and dramatic purple so deep it looks black

15. Blossoms are impressively symmetrical in most varieties

Come Inside Charlie Hunnam's Romantic New House

Between filming Guy Ritchie's Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur and adventure thriller The Lost City of Z, we don't know how Charlie Hunnam had the time to house-hunt. But alas, the beloved actor just purchased a restored Mediterranean-style house in the Hollywood Hills for $2.7 million, Trulia reports.

Listed by agents Skyler Hynes and Tyson Rocco Pelanconi, the four-bedroom home features a sunken living room, a rustic kitchen, and a romantic outdoor space. It was also built in 1926, which is basically considered to be ancient in Los Angeles. With all this space to fill, we understand why Charlie and his longtime girlfriend were recently seen furniture shopping in LA.

20 Slow-Cooked Meals to Make Life Easier

Milan Fashion Week Just Started - But We Already Choose Gucci

If any fashion label was currently "trending," it'd be Gucci. Designer Alessandro Michele's Dionysus bag is on the arm of celebrities and street style stars alike, and a particular funky-fresh Spring '16 gown has covered a handful of magazines and even made an appearance on The Tonight Show.

So what do you give the girls who can't get enough of your incredibly vibrant and instantly iconic looks? More. More sweaters covered in quirky graphics, but this time they take new silhouettes, amped up with padded sleeves, ruffles, and fur. More pussy-bow blouses and dresses, only now splashed with psychedelic '60s-inspired patterns.

What's new? Michele has collaborated with street artist GucciGhost, aka Trevor Andrew, who casually painted the brand's logo - as is his signature - onto a midi skirt and the backs of jackets, then dripped his handwriting down a luxe leather shopper. While some might look down upon the idea of "copying," the Gucci team was in love with Andrew's creations from the start. We can't blame them - if possible, the prints add even more flavor to what's surely one of the most vibrant runway debuts we've seen this season.

Read on to see the line in full, which speaks just as strongly to a young customer - with its loud colors and sporty varsity socks - as it does to starlets about to take the red carpet at the Oscars this Sunday. One thing's for sure: anyone who appreciates good craft, the ability to work a mishmash of influences and trends into a collection that still defines a brand, will love Michele's latest offering.

  • Trends: Ruffles, '60s prints, granny-chic fur-muff sleeves, pussy-bows and scarves.
  • Colors: From bright red to Big Bird yellow, lime, and sherbet hues, the whole color wheel is present here.
  • Key Look: A one-shouldered gown that embodies Michele's ability to infuse a variety of trends into one design. Fur lining plays up a floral, one-shoulder bodice that gets a modern touch with a rainbow tulle skirt.
  • Stars Who'd Wear It: Bold brand loyalists like Dakota Johnson, spunky fashionistas like Solange Knowles, and boho-feminine types like Florence Welch.
  • Bags: Bright new bags in a rainbow of colors, mostly square-shaped, plenty of which are splashed with GucciGhost's graffiti-like art.
  • Shoes and Other Accessories: Furry-finished Mary-Janes, metallic sandals that feel old-school cool, T-straps adorned with pearls, to match the long necklaces that are layered onto plenty of looks.

More photos to come.

You've Never Seen Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch Like This

Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch is one of the most famed celebrity properties ever. The massive Santa Barbara, CA, property is up for grabs to buyers with the $100 million in cold, hard cash to snag it. But if you don't have the funds to occupy the legendary home, then this video is the next best way to get inside.

In the enticing five-minute video released by Sotheby's International Realty, we're given an unprecedented aerial view of the ranch's lush green meadows and rarely seen interiors, including the built-in dance studio, movie theater, and an animal pasture - and these are only a fraction of the epic amenities that occupy the ranch!

While we'll probably have to save for a lifetime to close the deal on the space, this video is sure to leave buyers and dreamers alike swooning over the one-of-a-kind landmark. Watch along to see for yourself.

This Ostrich Egg Chocolate Is WAY Better Than an Easter Bunny

It's not even March, and the Internet is freaking out over this chocolate ostrich egg from Hotel Chocolat. Yes, it's from the UK, and yes, it'll set you back £75 (plus £15 shipped to the US). That's roughly $125. Before you panic, listen to what's inside the adorable hatbox. The two extra-thick half-chocolate shells are actually different. One is 40 percent milk chocolate with crispy puffed rice and crunchy cookies (think fancy Nestlé Crunch bar), and the other is 50 percent milk chocolate with crisp feuilletine (think Ferrero Rocher). Inside the shells, there are 27 chocolate candies. The most delightful-sounding are carrot cake (with real carrots and walnuts), billionaire's shortbread (caramel, hazelnuts, and shortbread), and Eton mess (crisp meringue and strawberry mousse). But if that seems too excessive for you, there's always the Just Milk Extra Thick Easter Egg, which will only set you back £27 (plus shipping).

The Easiest Way to Get Rid of Old Knives

Sure, it's easy to recycle or donate muffin tins, dishes, and other random kitchen equipment, but what about kitchen knives? When you're ready to get rid of an old set, it seems dangerous and wasteful to toss them in the trash. Turns out, it's so much easier to deal with them than you think, and wrapping them up in bubble wrap or cardboard is unnecessary. After reaching out to Goodwill's customer service, a representative said they are happy to receive kitchen knife donations. All you need to do is pile them in a shoe box or another small box. I may use a Sharpie to write "CAUTION: KNIVES" so any handlers are aware of what's inside.

How to Hack a Homemade Dirty Chai on the Cheap

Image Source: POPSUGAR Photography / Jae Payne

Coffee and chai combine forces to make one perfect cup of caffeine. If you love ordering dirty chai lattes (chai tea, steamed milk, and a shot of espresso), you're going to want to try out the trick to getting a similar taste at home: add all the chai spices to your coffee filter before brewing the coffee. The spices mix well with the coffee grounds, and the resulting brew is wonderfully aromatic (seriously, the smell alone is reason enough to make this).

Image Source: POPSUGAR Photography / Erin Cullum

Here are all the (ground) spices you'll need: cinnamon, black peppercorns, cardamom, cloves, and ginger. I used half a teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon black peppercorns, and 1/4 teaspoon of all the rest, and the chai flavor was subtle - I added a touch of sweetness and creaminess with vanilla almond milk. If you want to amp up the flavors, you can double or even triple the amount of spice, or try it out a few times and see which ratios you prefer (More cinnamon? Less ginger?). If you've got all the spices in your cabinet, it's definitely worth a shot - you might discover your new favorite way of drinking dirty chai, and you'll save yourself many trips to the coffee shop.

The 8 Worst Things You Can Do to Your Area Rug

After spending hours scouring the local flea market and browsing Internet sales, you finally found the perfect area rug to complete your room - and we're guessing you want this precious piece of decor to impress for years to come!

A little bit of TLC now will go a long way to ensure the longevity of your purchase. Conversely, doing the following seven things will cause your area rug to dull and deteriorate prematurely.

Keep reading to learn the biggest mistakes you can make when caring for your rug:

  • Not Using a Rug Pad
  • When you're already dishing out big bucks for an area rug, it's tempting to skip the rug pad - but this comparatively affordable accoutrement can dramatically increase the lifespan of your area rug. Rug pads provide multitiered protection, buffering your rug from wear, allowing it the space it needs to breathe, and preventing slipping.

  • Never Rotating It
  • Daily traffic on the rug takes its toll, especially when it moves in the same pattern around your furniture day in and day out. Rotate your rug once a year to keep it from wearing unevenly.

  • Forgetting to Vacuum Regularly
  • Get in the habit of vacuuming weekly to keep dirt from building up and grinding into the pile. It's the simplest way to keep your rug looking clean and fresh for years to come.

  • Placing It in Direct Sunlight
  • Area rugs are not immune to the sun's strong rays. Unless you put up window shades or close curtains during peak daylight hours, the rug's vibrant colors will fade.

  • Only Vacuuming the Front Side
  • Did you know that the underside of your rug needs vacuuming too? Flip your rug over every couple of months, and give the bottom some attention. You'll be glad you did.

  • Letting Stains Settle
  • Spot clean straightforward spills immediately, and get the rug to a professional cleaner ASAP to clean up more challenging messes - even if you can't get the rug there until the next day, a pro should be able to tell you how to mitigate the problem in the meantime. In short, act fast, and don't let stains set!

  • Skipping Deep Cleanings
  • Vacuuming can only do so much. Every year or two, you need to go deeper to really flush out dirt and grime and restore your rug's luster. We recommend taking it to a professional rug cleaner who will know how to treat your specific rug, but if you're going the DIY route, be sure to follow the manufacturer's cleaning guidelines.

  • Allowing Dirt to Build Up Around the House
  • Prevent dirt from ever reaching your rug by limiting how much gets into the house to begin with. If you place a doormat at every entrance and regularly clean the floors around your house - especially those by entrance ways - you'll keep much of the mess from ever reaching the rug.

Fashion It girl and society maven Lauren Santo Domingo just listed her New York City home for $7,250,000, and it's every bit as over-the-top glam as you imagine. The cofounder of Moda Operandi, an online designer retailer, and contributing editor at Vogue lived in the 3-bedroom, 3.5-bath loft in Manhattan's Flatiron district with her billionaire heir husband Andres and their two kids. The couple also owns a home in Paris, France.

The jet-setting family's lifestyle in their NYC home seems nothing short of luxurious. The swanky building's elevator opens directly into the living room, exposing 11-foot-high ceilings, oversize windows, and gorgeous hardwood floors. The sprawling 4,713 square-foot loft contains a state-of-the-art kitchen with stainless steel appliances, and the private master suite contains a spa-like bath. The home is equipped with a dressing room and walk-in closet where clothes horse Lauren could store her collection of couture goodies.

Beyond the home's architectural features, we're swooning over the Santo Domingo's colorful interior decorating. From bold-patterned wallpaper to mod geometric lighting pendants, this couple's personal style emanates from every inch of the loft. But before you fall in love with the property, be sure you can afford it. In addition to the seven figure price tag, there's also a monthly maintenance fee of $2,750 and a monthly real estate tax of $3,666. Yikes! Check out all the gorgeous details below.

Yikes! Charlize Theron Just Lost a Pretty Penny on Her Hollywood Penthouse

Charlize Theron snagged her stylish Hollywood home for only $2 million nearly nine years ago. However, her glamorous apartment was just sold for $1 million less than her initial buying price. According to Variety, the star has let go of her penthouse flat, at a loss, for only $1.75 million.

The one-bedroom, two-bathroom home is far from your average single-space apartment. The two-story flat covers 2,350 square feet and is surrounded by large steel-framed windows that instantly illuminate the glossy ebony wood floors. High ceilings and mod lighting accents create enough open space to enhance the trendy dining room and kitchen area. A floating staircase is the pathway to a relaxing master suite and to a posh outdoor terrace with a view of the iconic Capitol Records building.

Charlize already owns properties in the Hollywood Hills and Malibu, CA. And while we'll take this stunning home over our one-bedroom city apartments any day, we can only imagine that she'll only snap up bigger, better spaces in the future. Read on to see more images of her chic coop.

Plan This Epic Spring Brunch Spread

Growing up in the '90s during the heyday of Martha Stewart, I can vividly recall my mom's mastery of party-throwing. There isn't a crème she hasn't bruléed, a DIY she hasn't crafted, or a tablescape theme she hasn't set with magician-like precision. That's why at the ripe age of 26, I've called upon her to help me (and you!) create a stunning Easter spread for a brunch to remember. The beautiful Delftware hanging in my parents' kitchen became the serving platters. The decorative wine bucket in the living room served its dutiful purpose to chill the sparkling wine. And like Mary Poppins, she unearthed some things I had never seen before, like the mini milk crates used to store the orange and grapefruit juices. As you plan your own Easter, repurpose trinkets and decor lying around your house. It will invite creativity and coziness to the table. Happy Easter!

The Menu

Spring fruit salad
Southern-style biscuits
Egg salad with apple and dill
Cheese grits
Baked ham
Sparkling wine
Freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit juices
Petit fours with cherry jam
Glazed sugar cookies

J Lo Just Took a Drastic Step to Sell Her Outrageously Decked-Out Mansion

Jennifer Lopez decided to part with the over-the-top Hidden Hills, CA, mansion she bought with Marc Anthony in February, listing it for a whopping $17 million – but, after no bites, she pulled the home off the market and relisted the estate at a discounted price of $14.5 million. Now, the Shades of Blue star has dropped the price down another two million dollars, bringing the price to $12.5 million. The couple purchased the nine-bedroom, 17,000-square-foot home for $8.2 million in 2010, and, naturally, put in some seriously luxe upgrades, including a kitchen reno, master-bedroom makeover, and the addition of a resort-like pool area. Perhaps she'll be sinking the still substantial profit in to her new NYC penthouse.

The three-acre estate is located within a guard-gated, equestrian community and is a nearly self-sufficient world within itself, complete with a professional recording studio, full-service bar, massage room, dance studio, dressing/fitting room, and private movie theater. Clearly, this home was tailored to the entertainers' needs!

Kris Jenner Just Purchased Yet Another Property - but It's Not Quite What You're Expecting

Kris Jenner just dropped big bucks ($2.2 million of them, to be exact) on a house that is . . . totally not what you would expect from the glamorous matriarch. The glowing Calabasas, CA, property is relatively calm compared to the two-bedroom bachelorette condo she snagged back in December.

Her recent four-bed, five-bath purchase was built in 2005 and spans nearly 4,300 square feet. While it is rumored that she purchased the pad for her son, Rob, the gorgeous residence exudes an all-American, contemporary vibe that a large family or a single person will immediately fall in love with.

It comes decked in cozy garb, a fireplace, and a formal family room overlooked by a welcoming kitchen laced in stainless-steel appliances. The space also features a large dining room with a glistening wooden table perfect for hosting large parties and her famous family.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Kardashian property without a luxe pool in the backyard and an outdoor spa to catch some R&R when her adorable grandkids stop by. While we'd love to spend a weekend hanging with our gals in Kris's fun condo, this snug abode has us wanting to ditch our spot and move in for good. Keep on reading to see more shots of the beautiful property.
