Gordon Ramsay's Badass Tip For Making the Very Best Burgers
Image Source: Getty Images / Ethan Miller
Gordon Ramsay knows his sh*t, especially when it comes to classics. I trust him with my life when it comes to scrambled eggs and I'm about to do the same for his method on burgers. While at a press event to promote his new cooking game with Glu Mobile, Gordon joked, "The last time I was this ambitious was opening up my burger restaurant in Las Vegas, because you're doomed to come over as a Brit and attempt to open a burger restaurant in the middle of Las Vegas."
Image Source: Getty Images / Bryan Steffy
Here's where Chef Ramsay gets to the meaty part: "But we perfected the patty, and we basted it in Devonshire butter, and brought something new in. We toughened up the brioche buns so it could absorb all that butter . . ." Do you remember the Jack-In-The-Box Buttery Burger? Yeah, yeah, we all thought America had gone to hell and back until we took a bite and became believers. Quite simply, fat makes things taste better, and Gordon Ramsay definitely knows that. In case you are worried you can't procure Devonshire butter at your local grocery store, opt for a cultured butter like this one from Trader Joe's. It's salty and has a slightly funky cheese flavor. Baste the hell out of that burger for optimum flavor! And secondly, raise your hand if your bun has disentegrated within five minutes of placing the patty on it. Gordon has such an obvious yet uncommon solution: use a tougher bread! While a homemade brioche bun may be out of the question, consider a sturdy pretzel bun.

15 Times Professor McGonagall Was an Absolute Queen
Let's talk about Minerva McGonagall for just a second. Or for an hour. Or for the next week. Professor Have-a-Biscuit-Potter never ceases to throw us for a loop in the best way possible. Expel Harry for flying a broomstick in his first year? How about - PLOT TWIST - she actually snags him a position on the Gryffindor Quidditch team as the youngest Seeker in a century. Did she play favorites by not docking points from her own House when she caught students sneaking out after hours? Nope. She triple docks Harry, Ron, and Hermione 50 points . . . each. She's fair; she hardcore; she's snarky as hell.
Apart from relating to her on a cat-lady level, I've always loved McGonagall because I've always respected her. She doesn't go easy on her students, but she cares about them so deeply. She's unyielding, strong, and an incredibly powerful witch. Most of all, it's her unwavering loyalty to Dumbledore that warms my heart, as well as her endless pursuit of the greater good. She doesn't make allowances for much, but when she does, it feels like Christmas (she always did have a soft spot for Hagrid, didn't she?). I trust her. I'm kind of scared of her (just how thin can her lips get when when she's furious?). She's who Umbridge really had to fear. She's a badass protector and professor, and through and through, she's a witch to be reckoned with. In case you needed more proof, here are 15 times she won the wizarding the world with a flick of her wand wrist and well-landed quip.
Looking For More Empowered Female Characters in the Star Wars Universe? They're Right Here
This week is an exciting time, with the novel Star Wars: Bloodline released this week and the unofficial Star Wars Day, May the Fourth, celebrated by fans worldwide today. In addition, May 1 marked the 25th anniversary of another Star Wars novel, Timothy Zahn's long-acclaimed Heir to the Empire. In 1991, Heir to the Empire hit shelves during the Dark Times - the era when Star Wars fans didn't think there would ever be more franchise movies. The book was a hit, and two more followed to complete the Thrawn trilogy, which Tor.com calls the "book series that arguably revitalized and reinvented Star Wars forever." Two years ago, Lucasfilm transitioned Heir to the Empire and the rest of the Expanded Universe books and comics to the status of Legends, opening up Star Wars storytelling going forward.
Fan-favorite characters Grand Admiral Thrawn and Mara Jade may be legends now, too, but the tale that brought them to life has left its mark. In my article How Star Wars Made Me a Feminist - Even When the Franchise Was Not, I discussed how the original trilogy shortchanged Leia's arc. Twenty-five years ago, Heir to the Empire gave pregnant Leia an active role. She had already married Han, but nefarious kidnapping plots and their duty to the New Republic tugged them in different directions. Far afield from the wranglings of the fledging galactic government, Leia was confronted by the shadow of her real father Darth Vader's legacy while also beginning to learn about her own Force potential. The Thrawn trilogy built on the positive start for Leia in the movies. Leia leaned in, decades before Sheryl Sandberg coined the phrase. Antagonist Mara Jade wields a lightsaber in the books, while the first onscreen female Jedi didn't appear until the prequel trilogy, and the first live-action female villain, Captain Phasma, didn't appear until The Force Awakens. Heir to the Empire was the gateway into the franchise for many feminists.
Bloodline author Claudia Gray draws upon similar elements that made Heir to the Empire successful. Bloodline infuses the galaxy far, far away with socio-political dynamics that affect us today, making the story fresh and relevant. The Force Awakens tries too hard to avoid the criticisms leveled at the prequel trilogy, particularly the heavy thread of political machinations, and fans were actually left wondering what type of political divide would compel the First Order to destroy entire star systems. A New Hope might not have fleshed out the politics, but the broad brushstrokes were evident: Leia, a member of the Imperial Senate, had stolen plans for the Empire's superweapon; Grand Moff Tarkin's rationale for testing the Death Star's destructive capabilities on her homeworld of Alderaan was quite clear. The Force Awakens ends with Luke still a mystery, Han dead, and Leia commanding a paramilitary force known as the Resistance, which has incompletely explained ties to the New Republic government blasted to oblivion by the First Order's new superweapon. Star Wars: Bloodline fills in the blanks by explaining the origins of the Resistance, with Leia as the focal point of the story.
Back in 1991, Timothy Zahn recognized that Star Wars needed more than one strong female character to make the galaxy go round. The Force Awakens makes strides forward from the original trilogy, but no more so than The Phantom Menace. The critical Resistance scene, where they plan the attack on Starkiller Base, features Leia and a cast of men brainstorming. One woman other than Leia speaks, only to provide information to General Organa. In Bloodline, by contrast, Gray provides Leia with a trusted staff and allies, many of them women. Some of them we see briefly in The Force Awakens. Korr Sella, who stares up into the sky from Hosnian Prime in the moments before its destruction, works as Leia's Senate intern. Dr. Kalonia, who tends to Chewbacca on the Resistance base, is someone Leia trusts and respects. New characters appear, too. Leia's Chief of Staff, Greer Sonnel, who has personal ties to Leia's husband Han Solo, helps introduce much of the backstory on what the scoundrel has been up to in the time since the destruction of the second Death Star.
Although Han's and Leia's time together in The Force Awakens plays out as a wake for a long-dead relationship, Bloodline gives us glimpses of the good times and the happiness. Although for some marriage is a commitment to remain at each other's sides, Leia's perspective on her marriage in Bloodline reflects the reality for many working couples in this day and age. It wasn't until after I read Gray's take on Han and Leia that I really cried over Han's death. Gray doesn't simply bolster events in The Force Awakens with her story, she also draws readers back to some of the most important beats in the original trilogy. Crafting strong female characters has been a topic of much discussion and debate in recent years. Advocates want to see women who are fierce and powerful, yet also flawed and vulnerable.
This has been a subject the Star Wars books have not addressed very well over the past decade. Gray gives a masterclass with Leia, using the backstory of her capture by Darth Vader in A New Hope. Leia is wounded, lashing out as any human subject to that type of torture, but also resilient. Gray also takes on the matter of Leia's capture by Jabba the Hutt, when she is forced to wear the revealing gold bikini, a topic that has been discussed far and wide inside and outside of fandom circles. Comedienne Amy Schumer's controversial GQ photos in the costume brought the topic to prominence again last year, about the time Bloodline was being written. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gray confirms that the fan discussion about redubbing the costume "Slave Leia" to "Huttslayer" moved her to return to that original trilogy moment and empower the character as part of a plot point in her novel.
Bloodline also highlights the importance of continuing to speak up in support of this new trend in Star Wars author-hiring. In the past, too many Star Wars books and comics perpetuated harmful tropes, such as frigid female characters - most notably Mara Jade in the 2007 novel Legacy of the Force: Sacrifice - and used female characters solely as plot devices to serve male characters' arcs. Taking a cue from our first Star Wars heroine, feminists began to resist the blindered patriarchal fan service of the books, which spiraled out of control as Padmé's story faltered and fizzled out after a stellar start in The Phantom Menace.
In the days before Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm, a good portion of the female fans who had become invested in the Expanded Universe felt as defeated as Leia in the moments after her son kills Han in The Force Awakens. Although many fans see cause for optimism in the Star Wars franchise overall in the Disney era, even newer canon entries Heir to the Jedi and Dark Disciple, both released last year, have repeated the same timeworn problems.
Like Leia in The Force Awakens, who knew she needed the Jedi to bolster the Resistance's fight against the First Order and the closing darkness, those fans who have advocated for better portrayals of women in Star Wars books know we need the right kind of champion to effect change. Last year the internet buzzed about news of LGBT characters in Star Wars books, first Moff Delian Mors in Paul Kemp's Lords of the Sith, and later Imperial deserter Sinjir Rath Velus in Chuck Wendig's Aftermath. As The Wrap noted, these weren't the first LGBT characters in Star Wars, not including other instances of characters, such as Face Loran and Ton Phanan in the Legends X-Wing series - or Sabé and Padmé from the prequel trilogy, who could be open to interpretation the same way some fans have rallied around Finn and Poe. For those who have been asking for Star Wars to diversify, Kemp's and Wendig's entries seemed like steps in the right direction, especially for Kemp, who had been criticized for his masculinity-oozing Legends contributions. Interspersed with positive gains were major steps backward for diversity: Heir to the Jedi introduced a capable and interesting woman of color, only to kill her to advance Luke's path to becoming a Jedi; in Dark Disciple, extensively developed antihero Asajj Ventress dies simply to reinforce, yet again, the obvious notion that the prequel trilogy Jedi Order had lost its way.
Also in 2015, Disney Publishing, with little fanfare, dropped a young adult entry called Lost Stars into the Star Wars prose fiction pool as part of the "Journey to The Force Awakens" releases. It took the Star Wars book reading community a while to catch up to the overwhelming positive critical buzz for Lost Stars, which follows the lives of two pilots through the events of the original trilogy and ends at the Battle of Jakku, the ravages of which later prove to be the scavenging grounds for The Force Awakens's hero Rey.
Having demonstrated her skill at creating an original and diverse cast of characters and peppering their story with brilliant minor roles for fan favorites like Wedge Antilles and Mon Mothma, Claudia Gray was passed the baton to spin a tale that ties into the most successful Star Wars movie ever. This may seem like a no-brainer considering she is a bestselling author and lifelong fan of the franchise, but all too often slots for authors of adult Star Wars novels had gone the way of blockbuster franchise movie directors in the recent years. It was more likely to see a man who had no experience being tasked to write an adult novel rather than a woman with bestseller credentials. Bloodline reinforces just how much the franchise benefits when individuals with the backgrounds, sensibilities, and expertise to deliver truly top-notch Star Wars stories are finally given their rightful seat at the table.
Claudia Gray's Star Wars: Bloodline alone can't entirely address the reasons The Force Awakens is not actually that feminist, of course, but it's a start. Leia's story builds on the character's strengths that made her a vanguard back in 1977. While Padmé is only mentioned briefly, we can see Leia's birth mother reflected vividly in the things Leia does, right down to taking action when politics proves ineffective. Although Star Wars has become so invested in daddy issues that it neglects to portray mothers as equally important figures, Bloodline makes small steps, showing Leia as a mother, and as a daughter that thinks of her mother. Most notable, though, is that Gray's novel took almost every criticism for better portrayals of characters outside the cis white male demographic and made it happen. Like Leia is to the galaxy, hiring Claudia Gray was about bringing in the right person to get things done.

What No One Tells You About the KonMari Method
I'm an evangelist for Marie Kondo, the Japanese organizational guru whose unique tidying techniques have become a worldwide sensation. I've read both of her books and completed the full decluttering/reorganizing program in six months. In the last year, it has been my favorite thing to bring up to my friends, co-workers, heck, even distant cousins. I am obsessed, because it really has transformed my living space and shattered many of my bad habits related to tidying. Some people aren't convinced and steadfastly refuse to KonMari their home. Me, on the other hand, I'm a fervent believer, because I learned so much. Here are my greatest takeaways based on my experience.
Lesson 1: Getting rid of everything that doesn't "spark joy" is really liberating.
I know this sounds extreme, and I know some people claim there is room for regret with all the purging that happens, but not me. It was a chance to get rid of that set of lamps I always loathed, the antler candelabras and other ridiculous items I never used and somehow casually inherited, and the piles of unread books that bubbled up anxiety and regret every time I looked at them. Getting rid of all the extra junk felt so empowering and liberating, and it paved the way to celebrating and cherishing the few items I really love.
Lesson 2: Scaling back on my possessions made it easy to move.
I completed the KonMari Method while I was living in a dark studio apartment with views of white concrete walls. I had been there five years and felt the itch to move, but I didn't know how I was going to do it in crazy-expensive San Francisco. That same week, I ran into my landlord. She was trying to fill an empty unit, and on a whim, I asked to see it. One week later, I signed the lease and moved in to a beautiful, spacious, sunny apartment overlooking a courtyard and five-story-tall avocado tree. This was a month ago. Never in my wildest imagination could I have done such a thing had I not purged myself of all the extra stuff I had accumulated in my 10 years of adult living.
Lesson 3: I became confident about my sense of design (for the first time!).
My mom is an interior designer (her San Francisco apartment was even featured on POPSUGAR!). She's a pro at organizing spaces, filling them with bold colors, fabulous pieces of furniture, and thought-provoking accessories. Before Kondo, I felt completely reliant on my mom for anything and everything related to interior design and would avoid moving or getting rid of anything, even silly junk. But afterward, I realize I actually have a distinct design style, separate from my mom's. I love sparkly metallics against whites and light browns. I like my cookbooks to be color-coded like a rainbow. I carefully potted my own succulent arrangements to perch on sunny spots around the house. I prefer my kitchen and bathroom to be stark clean and shine brilliantly white.
Lesson 4: I feel relaxed and joyful in my home.
In her first title, The Life‑Changing Magic of Tidying Up, Kondo says, "When you put your house in order, you put your affairs and your past in order, too." It's true. The hardest part of the KonMari Method is purging keepsakes that hold a lot of emotional significance like old love letters and, for me, hundreds of pages of notes from my favorite professor's classes in college and all my ballet clothes, including my first set of point shoes. It's painful to say goodbye to these things, yes, but something sort of woo-woo happens when they become out of sight. Before, my house was a dark, heavy place filled to the brim with stuff from my past. After, it became a light, bright place with no history and no regrets. As Kondo puts it, it's a space that's "A detachment from the past. Not fearing the future." And now, every time I walk into my apartment, I'm filled with relaxation and joy. Imagine that!

This Is How the New Starbucks Waffle Cone Frappuccino Really Tastes
Starbucks released a Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino ahead of Summer, and we knew we wanted to try it immediately. Coffee plus waffle cone?! It sounds like a dream, but how does it really taste?
For starters, it's basically a caramel Frappuccino with a slightly different taste thanks to the addition of waffle cone syrup. The syrup isn't the only cone component, though - there are crushed-up bits of waffle cone sprinkled on top of the whipped cream. These are definitely the star of the beverage, but the only drawback is they get soggy quickly, so eat them fast. You can order the Frappuccino with or without coffee (we opted for coffee, because that's the clear choice). Overall, Frappuccino-lovers are definitely into it and would order it. "Love it! Love the waffle bits," one taste tester wrote, while another admitted, "Good but not sure it's worth the calories."
If you're still not sure if you want to buy it, the best thing to do is take advantage of Starbucks's Frappuccino happy hour (it's back!), which means you get half-priced Frappuccinos from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. every day from now until May 15. While nothing compares to an actual waffle cone with ice cream on a hot day, this is a good way to start your morning if you need a caffeine boost and a sugar rush.
Nutritionists Reveal What to Eat at Lunchtime to Lose Weight
Lunchtime! You know scarfing down a burger and fries isn't the best choice if you're trying to slim down, but how do you know what is? We've enlisted the expertise of two nutritionists - Stephanie Clarke, RD, and Willow Jarosh, RD, of C&J Nutrition - to share the perfect equation for how to make a delicious and satisfying lunch that will help you lose weight. Follow their advice below to start seeing results.
Calories
If you're trying to lose weight, aim for the 400-to-450 range. If you're trying to maintain your weight, especially if you work out, aim closer to 500 calories.
Carbs
Yes, you need to eat carbs! Go for 50 to 65 grams, which is 45 to 55 percent of your lunch calories. Carbs offer your brain and your body energy, so skimping can leave you feeling sluggish. Overdoing it can also have the same affect, so stick to this range. Avoid refined carbs, like foods made with white flour and white sugar, and go for whole grains, whole grain breads and pastas, and starchy veggies and fruits.
Related: Back Off Carbs With a 1-Day Meal Plan
Protein
Go for the gold and get 20 to 30 grams of protein, which is about 17 to 25 percent of your lunch calories. A healthy dose of midday protein will help prevent the dreaded afternoon slump and will keep you feeling satisfied post-lunch so you're less likely to reach for sugary pick-me-ups.
Fats
Including healthy fats in your lunch makes your meal more satisfying, so strive for 13 to 18 grams, which is 30 to 35 percent of your total lunch calories. Including healthful sources like nuts, seeds, oils, avocado, and olives can help beat sugar cravings later.
Fiber
Shoot for at least eight grams of fiber, which is 30 percent of the daily recommended total of 25 grams per day. Including fiber-rich carbohydrates (whole grains, starchy veggies, and fruit) and fiber-containing fats (nuts and seeds) will help you reach your fiber goals.
Sugars
Healthy lunches should have four grams of sugar or fewer, but if you enjoy foods that contain natural sugars (like grapes or dried cranberries in your salad, sweet potato or squash in soups, whole pieces of fruit, or natural sweeteners like maple syrup or honey in sauces or dressings), then aim for fewer than 20 grams of sugar. Be mindful of the hidden sugars in certain products like sandwich bread; read labels, and choose those without added sugars.
Timing
Enjoy your lunch about one to three hours after your morning snack. If you eat breakfast around 7:30 and your morning snack around 10, aim to eat lunch around 12. Or if you like to exercise at noon, enjoy your lunch when you get back around 1. If you tend to forget to eat because you're so busy, set an alarm on your phone or computer to remind you to stop and nosh!

Snack Mistakes to Avoid
- Waiting until you're famished: Busy schedules can make hitting that midday meal tough, but avoid heading to lunch when you're starving. Not only will you inhale your lunch quickly and reach for more food because your body hasn't had time to register that it's full, but also, it can also throw off your natural hunger and fullness cues for the rest of the afternoon, which can lead to eating more later in the day.
- Eating out: Do you know how many calories are in that soup and salad you ordered from the cafe? It seems like a healthy lunch, but hidden high-calorie ingredients could make your lunch well over 600 calories. Pack lunch from home so you know exactly how much you're eating.
- Not taking a break: When you mindlessly gobble down your lunch while doing something else like working or watching TV, your mind will be too distracted to be able to fully register each bite, so you'll tend to take in or crave more calories. Get away from your desk, get outside, or eat lunch with a friend.
Looking for other daily eating habits that will help you lose weight? Here's what to eat for breakfast, for dinner, and at snack time to lose weight.
Jewel's Texas Home Is the Total Opposite of What You're Expecting
Folk-pop singer Jewel is selling her Texas home at the surprisingly affordable price of $335,000. Located about two hours outside Dallas in Stephenville, the almost 3,000-square-foot property is propped on 4.4 acres of land and features three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Jewel and her ex-husband, Ty Murray, bought the ranch house back in 2007.
Although the exterior of the home is a bit drab, the inside was professionally decorated and radiates charming character. It features oak floors, white ceiling beams, and a colorful fireplace. The open floor plan is definitely a highlight of the home, as the dining and living areas connect to the kitchen that has distressed-looking cabinets and green river-rock countertops. The den includes floor-to-ceiling shelves and opens to the spacious yard.
According to Variety, the Grammy-nominated singer snagged a $1.3 million home in Nashville last year after her divorce - quite an upgrade from this humble abode. Look ahead for more photos of Jewel's now-for-sale property.
See Why Reddit Is Freaking Out Over This Apartment
When photographer Nicolette Johnson put images she took of her art-filled Australian apartment on Reddit's Interior Design forum, she could not have imagined her post would take off the way it did.
Within minutes, fellow users were inundating her with questions on everything from where she purchased specific pieces to where she hid all her junk in the clutter-free space.
The short answers: she scavenged much of her furniture and decor from affordable sources; the Danish armchairs are from eBay and their cushions were refurbished by her mom; the stunning dhurrie rug was a steal from Gumtree (Australia's version of Craigslist); and the Scandinavian bed frame is from Ikea. As for where she keeps all her junk, she said she purged most of her stuff before downsizing to the small apartment.

5 Lifesaving Habits of a Real-Life Professional Organizer
It's no wonder the cofounder of Done & Done NYC, a professional organizing, de-cluttering, and staging business, is just as organized in her personal life as her professional life. Abby Löfberg has the scoop on how Kate Pawlowski's daily routine stays on track.
Our cofounder Kate Pawlowski is 28 years old and the most high-functioning person I know. (Read her bio here). What's great about her is that she gives advice that someone like me (who doesn't "run a home" and is not naturally organized) can actually follow and implement.
I grilled her about her entire day, and gleaned a couple of great habits that she does unconsciously and without thinking. She says that these are so easy, they don't feel overwhelming - they become ingrained into your habits, and you end up looking forward to the feeling of relief you get after such little effort, like brushing your teeth in the morning.
1. Morning
When she wakes up, Kate fills her kettle and turns it on. During the three minutes it takes to boil for her morning tea, she unloads the dishwasher, so she never has to keep dishes in the sink and just pops them straight in the dishwasher all day. Imagine never having to have a terrifying sink full of dirty dishes! (I actually do this too. It works!)
2. Showering
She keeps a magic eraser in her shower and wipes down the walls right after she shuts the water off to keep it clean and mildew-free. This prevents slime and grime from building up in the grout, and she never has to do a deep shower clean other than during her seasonable deep cleaning sprees.
3. Getting dressed
She is all about stylish basics that work for multiple purposes - especially with her underwear. When Kate buys her undies, she makes sure they match a few of her existing bras, so she can quickly pull out a pair and be in a matching set. When she takes off her clothes at night, her bra and undies go right into the mesh delicates bag she has hanging on her closet door, so they're ready to pop in the wash once a week. (She actually has a bunch of these bags in different sizes and washes most of her clothes this way to take care of them). This way, she never runs out of underwear and has to do a last-minute wash while wearing granny panties.
4. Evening
She spends seven to 10 minutes every night tidying her desk, her coffee table, folding throw blankets, and starting the dishwasher so she can wake up fresh in the morning and get right to coffee and work.
5. Shopping
Living in an organized way is not just about where you put your things - it starts with what you let into your house in the first place. Kate is vigilant about her shopping habits - she does research on clothes and reads reviews before she buys them. She knows what cuts work for her and which materials she is most comfortable wearing. She also takes care of her clothes really well by washing everything on a delicate cold-cold cycle. This way, her clothes stay in top condition and she doesn't have to buy as much. This is part of a philosophy we at Done & Done NYC call Owning Well - in other words, how to own less things that work perfectly for you is a more efficient and less expensive way to have an organized space.

McDonald's Releases New Garlic Fries - but There's a Catch
McDonald's recently tested chocolate fries - that choice may have been questionable, but the new garlic fries that the burger chain has released sound on point. The fast food giant announced in a press release that it has rolled out the new garlic fries in four select locations in the South Bay of San Francisco.
To incorporate locally sourced ingredients, McDonald's is enhancing its signature french fries with garlic that is grown about 80 miles south of San Francisco in Gilroy, CA, named "The Garlic Capital of the World." McDonald's Gilroy Garlic Fries are made to order and tossed in chopped Gilroy garlic and olive oil, parsley, parmesan cheese, and a little salt. It sounds pretty amazing.
According to Nick Vergis, McDonald's co-op president of the San Francisco Bay Area, the customer response "has been very positive." If the new item continues to receive praise, it'll be available in August at almost 250 chains in the Bay Area. We're guessing (and hoping) that these garlic fries will become widespread, just as we're crossing our fingers that McDonald's sweet potato french fries make their way to a location near us soon. Let us know below what you think of this new menu item!
This Diet Might Slow Down Aging
We're already fans of the Mediterranean diet due to its numerous health benefits, and a new study published in Science Daily only confirms this evidence. According to a group of researchers, sticking to a Mediterranean diet can slow down aging. This is because the foods associated with this cuisine decrease the levels of a protein called C-reactive, which is linked to the aging process. For people who suffer from osteoporosis, the study also found that eating more Mediterranean-style foods will reduce bone loss.
The study took place in five European countries including France, Italy, and the UK with over 1,142 participants. Though researchers focused on how the diet affects the elderly population, we can easily take this lesson and apply it to our own diets. There's no better time to start than when you're young, right?
If you're wondering how to get in on this trend, you don't have to go to Greece or Italy for the foods; just scroll through these salad recipes with Mediterranean elements.

Selena Gomez's Glowy Met Gala Makeup Is Actually Super Easy to Re-Create
Selena Gomez wore a sexy-yet-edgy Louis Vuitton number to this year's Met Gala (complete with lace-up platform boots), and while we were totally obsessed with it, we also couldn't keep our eyes off her fresh-faced makeup. The "Hands to Myself" singer rocked a natural, glowy look (with a hint of boldness in the form of subtly winged eyeliner). And it could honestly be an everyday thing.
Makeup artist Hung Vanngo partnered with Kiehl's to create the look on Selena, first prepping her skin with the Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque ($32), then dabbing a few drops of the brand's Daily Reviving Concentrate ($46) to the high points of her face for extra dewiness. Since Selena's skin is already flawless, he went in with just a touch of foundation and concealer as a base, setting it all with a light reflecting powder.
To give her even more of a camera-ready glow, Hung dusted a highlight over her nose, forehead, and chin, adding a touch of bronzer to the hairline and jaw, and then dusting a soft pink blush on her cheekbones. He kept her lips super simple and effortless with a nourishing coat of the Facial Fuel No-Shine Moisturizing Lip Balm ($9) underneath a flesh-toned liner and a coat of CoverGirl Colorlicious Lipstick in Crème ($7).
And as for that gorgeous wing? No, liquid liner was not involved. Instead, Hung went for thick, blended-out lines of Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner ($20) and a wash of MAC Glitter Reflects Gold ($22) across the lid and lower lash line, creating the edgy touch we loved with individual falsies, two luscious coats of black mascara, and perfectly filled-in brows.
Easy, huh? Keep scrolling to see more pictures of Selena's look, and then check out what other Met Gala red carpet moments you might've missed.

Zoe Saldana's Shimmery Met Gala Eye Makeup Requires Only These 5 Products
While everyone was gawking at Zoe Saldana's princess-worthy gown from Dolce & Gabbana (and her hot husband, Marco Perego) at the 2016 Met Gala, we were zooming in on her gorgeous metallic eyes. See, the wrong makeup can make or break a red carpet look, but Zoe's was a total winner.
Makeup artist Vera Steimberg used Charlotte Tilbury products to create the copper metallic eye, and the step-by-step process is surprisingly simple: start with a creamy mix of Eyes to Mesmerise in Mona Lisa and Jean ($32 each) all over your lids, then use the same combination to line your lower lashes with an angled brush. Next, line your bottom and upper lash lines with the Colour Chameleon Eye Shadow Pencil in Bronzed Garnet ($27), lightly blending the brown shade with the eye shadow using your fingers. Then, dot the The Feline Flick ($30) eyeliner between your upper lashes to give the illusion of fuller fringe, finishing with a few coats of Full Fat Lashes mascara ($29) on top and bottom. So easy! Scroll ahead to check out more photos of Zoe's makeup and find close-ups of the products used to create it.

The Top 10 Wedding Registry Items Might Surprise You
Registering for your wedding is an exciting rite of passage - but it's also seriously overwhelming. There are so many categories and products to navigate, not to mention personalities to manage - your mom says no registry is complete without formal china, while your future spouse thinks registering for anything beyond the basics is extravagant. Yikes!
To figure out where to begin, we spoke to Pottery Barn's head tabletop designer Tony Leo. His first piece of advice was to register early. "Right after you're engaged is a great time to register. Some people may just want to get you gifts immediately and potentially double gift. Who doesn't love that?" On the same note, he advises registering for more than you need to give guests options and including items in a range of prices. "This will make your gift givers comfortable and not feel daunted by your big-ticket items."
As for his winning registering strategy, he advises, "Speak with one of the in-store associates and take your time and make the decision together. You want to make the right decisions." Don't worry if you have to come back to the store or tweak the registry online a few times. It's better to wait and determine what you're going to want in the long-term than to rush or pressure each other into selecting the wrong items.
One area he suggests registering for more items in is food prep and serving ware. "More people are entertaining at home, and a lot more people are cooking and taking cooking classes, so food-prep items like KitchenAid mixers, slow cookers, blenders, etc. are going to be increasingly hot." When it comes to basics, he loves Pottery Barn's designs because they "last a lifetime and are classic, livable, transitional to any occasion, and, of course, [they're] beautiful."
Check out Pottery Barn's top 10 most-registered-for items ahead, along with Tony's feedback on why they're favorites.
