A Calorie-Torching 30-Minute Tabata Workout to Burn Some Serious Calories

This calorie-torching cardio and sculpting workout is one of our hardest ever, but Equinox Tabata instructor Raneir Pollard's amazing energy will inspire you to fight for it. Tabata is a form of HIIT (high intensity interval training) that alternates between 20 seconds of intense bursts of work and 10 seconds of rest in four-minute rounds. You don't need any equipment for the workout, but do grab a towel and a bottle of water - you're going to need both. Then press play and get ready to sweat, tone, and burn!

If You Don't Follow This Senior Dog Facebook Page, You're Seriously Missing Out

If you're considering "unplugging" from social media, we've got one thing that might convince you to stick around: old, adorable dogs. The Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary Facebook page is probably the purest place on the internet, and the elderly canine rescue will make you smile every time you log on to your timeline. Located in Mount Juliet, TN, Old Friends is a sanctuary dedicated to finding "forever fosters" for dogs who are over the hill. Luckily for us (and the page's 1.4 million - and counting! - followers) the sanctuary posts sweet updates multiple times per day.

While a property filled with old dogs looking for homes might sound depressing, Old Friends is the exact opposite; there's nothing sweeter than seeing elderly pooches enjoying retirement together. From Leo, the shaggy lady killer, to Mildred, the one-eyed Pug who is running for president, you'll grow to love and look forward to seeing these pups-at-heart on your Facebook page.

Don't believe us? Well check out these adorable posts from Old Friends and the overwhelmingly positive responses from formerly jaded social media users. You'll click "like" faster than you can say "awww." (You're welcome.)

How to Keep Lemons Fresh For up to 3 Months

This tip for storing lemons is so easy. Accoring to Food.com, if you refrigerate lemons in a bowl of water, they will keep for up to three months! It sounds insane, but I'd be willing to give it a try. And if you want to extend the life of a lemon even futher, freeze the zest and the juice separately.

Is This the Year We Reached Peak Denim?

Thanks to a kick-back, comfortable look embraced by the fashion industry and many designers, we've been basking in the rise of athleisure, sneakers with everything, and denim everywhere. Surely, jeans are nothing new. They cycle in and out of our closets in varying silhouettes and washes, being reintroduced every few years with new touches and twists, embroidery here, embellishment, fringe, a wider crop, a higher rise, changing our everyday look with each small update or throwback. But if you stop to take stock of the year in fashion - denim trench coats, personalized pieces, day dresses, and tailored denim - you might just notice how much more we saw. It was more than just jeans.

Jean jackets featured prominently in Balenciaga's Fall '16 collection; Vetements reworked the look with two-toned jeans and uneven hems, and it all quickly took to the streets. Style stars' obsession with the classic was anything but traditional, embracing bold, baggy, frayed cuts, denim jumpsuits, denim on denim. It seemed very quickly jeans weren't just part of the outfit - they were the outfit. The center of every stylish outfit. To which, we wonder, have we reached peak denim? Where do we go from denim everything? Read on to see the year's explosive denim trend, then weigh in. What will your jeans look like in 2017? We have some ideas.

11 DIY Beauty Remedies Your Grandma Always Talked About That Actually Work

Every abuela has one: that wild concoction she whips up from ingredients in her kitchen and swears by every time you have a pimple, dry skin, unruly hair - you name it. As kids, most of us rolled our eyes and went along with it, but we've done a little digging, and it turns out maybe Grandma wasn't so crazy after all. Many of those beauty recipes actually work! Warning: do try these 11 practices at home for smooth skin and silky hair - or get these beauty buys that are also grandma-approved.

1. Using mayonnaise as a deep conditioner for healthy hair.

According to hairstylist Nathaniel Hawkins, this old-school method works because of the fat to protein ratio. "The oil softens the hair, making it shinier - and the protein in the eggs will make strands stronger." He recommends applying the treatment to dry hair, and leaving it on as a mask for 15-20 minutes. Shampoo twice, and condition afterwards. But, Hawkins notes, this treatment works best for hair that isn't fine or limp.

2. Dabbing nails in olive oil for a healthier look.

Nail expert Stephanie Stone debunked the myth (common in Dominican culture) that rubbing garlic on nails will make them strong (according to studies, it has no benefit). But, she says, applying olive oil (a popular DIY beauty ingredient in Puerto Rico) on nails and cuticles throughout the day is a great way to improve their health. "Keeping your hands and nails moisturized is key, especially if you're trying to repair damaged nail beds. I'd also recommend applying it lightly throughout the day instead of a full on soak. But consistency is key!"

3. Coconut oil as a body moisturizer.

"This one 100% works," says dermatologist (and Sofia Vergara's derm!) Dendy Engelman, M.D., of coconut oil for soft skin, a popular technique in many Latin American countries. "Coconut oil is mostly made up of saturated fats and medium-chain fatty acids, which help repair the skin barrier, trap water to hydrate skin, and also reduce inflammation. And recent studies show it's also a great treatment for eczema."

4. Adding honey to hair conditioner for softer tresses.

A custom common in Caribbean Latin America, honey is a natural moisturizer, which Hawkins says does work to help rehydrate your locks. And using unprocessed honey will give you an extra bonus: it's full of enzymes that will help create a healthy scalp and prevent dandruff.

5. Agua maravilla to fight blemishes.

Also known as witch hazel, this is common in many Latino families, especially from Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds. Engelman says it works because the mixture contains anti-inflammatory, astringent, and antibacterial properties. Engelman also recommends Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Refreshingly Clean Towelettes ($6) to control blemishes and calm bug bites.

6. Washing hair with Coca-Cola for shine.

This is a long-time favorite technique among not just Latino families, but celebrities like Suki Waterhouse. Hairstylist Nunzio Saviano gives this traditional trick the thumbs up: "The acidity closes the hair cuticle, which makes it look healthy and shiny. But be careful: the sugar can leave your hair sticky, so you might need to rinse it out quickly. Apple cider vinegar is an alternative that might not be as messy!"

7. Beach sand as a skin exfoliant.

"Sand is essentially finely granulated rocks, so it's perfect to remove excess dry skin cells," Engelman says. "But because it's so abrasive, I'd only recommend you use it to exfoliate feet. It might be too harsh for other parts of your body."

8. Manzanilla grisi shampoo to lighten hair.

Saviano says that this traditionally Mexican and South American product - which contains Flor de Manzanilla and claims to both wash and lighten hair - does work, but he would use it sparingly. "This will maintain your tone and even lighten it at times, but if you use it too much, your color might become dull or even fade."

9. Grape skin paste for glowing skin.

Grapes are a gold mine, says Engelman. "They'll have a brightening effect over time because they contain vitamins B6, C, and A, and minerals like potassium, magnesium, selenium, and flavonoids, which act as antioxidants and remove toxins from the skin."

10. Sugar and lemon juice as an antiaging exfoliant.

According to Engelman, the sugar crystals act as an exfoliator, sloughing away dead skin, while the lemon juice helps peel away dead skin cells because of their content of alpha hydroxy acid (which is found in many antiaging treatments). Exfoliating is important, Engelman says, "because as we age, our skin doesn't shed as effectively. Plus, getting rid of dead cells helps your moisturizers penetrate better."

11. Avocado for healthy cuticles.

"Actually, rubbing avocado oil on cuticles is more effective than actual avocado," says Stone. But good news for avocado lovers: "Avocados in a healthy, balanced diet will help you see overall improvement in your hair, skin, and nails, too." Bring on the guacamole!

5 Makeup Trends to Save For Instagram, According to Kim Kardashian's Makeup Artist

Mario Dedivanovic is undeniably a makeup genius. He is the man behind many of Kim Kardashian's most smoldering eye shadow looks and bone-structure enhancing contour jobs. Recently, I was able to watch the master at work, making over a model during a class for editors (hosted by Jergens). There, I watched him effortlessly layer eyeliner and perfectly blend foundation with a puff. It was mesmerizing.

But most importantly, I discovered that certain viral Instagram trends should probably stay in 2016. When asked about everything from ultra-matte lips to unicorn-inspired beauty, Dedivanovic confirmed that many of these fads just aren't flattering. Read on to see what he really thinks, and learn tips on what to do instead. Teaser: it's time to get more light-handed with your brow pencil.

Kendall Jenner's Airport Pants Will Replace Your Favorite Pair of Sweats

When deciding on a travel outfit, comfort typically comes first, and Kendall Jenner's latest jet-setting look - a Vetements pullover paired with silky, striped track pants from Morgan Lane - fits right into that category. The model was spotted rocking the ensemble at LAX, keeping accessories to a minimum and finishing her look with a pair of white sneakers.

Kendall may be onto something with her on-the-go look, as Hailee Steinfeld - who was at LAX the very same day - wore a pair of Adidas track pants with a crop top for her own flight. The coincidence definitely left us wondering: are these bottoms the new, more stylish airport sweats? Scroll through for proof that this might be the case, then shop some track pants ahead to nail the look.

Why It's Time to Start Loving Chia Seeds

If the word chia brings up a mental image of a clay creature sprouting hair, you are not mistaken. But the seeds responsible for sprouting fuzz on Chia Pets are also an excellent source of anti-inflammatory omega-3s. Who knew?

For women, the RDI of omega-3s is 1.1 grams (1,100 mg) a day, so if you're looking for a new source that's vegan, gluten-free, and easy to consume, you'll want to pick up some of these seeds immediately. One ounce of chia seeds (about two tablespoons) contains 137 calories, one gram of saturated fat, 11 grams of fiber, four grams of protein, 177 milligrams of calcium, and 4.9 grams of omega-3 fatty acids. Aside from offering omegas, when chia seeds come in contact with water, they bulk up just like flaxseeds do. So when you eat them, they make you feel full. This means not only will they prevent you from overeating, but they'll also improve your digestion.

A 16-ounce bag of chia seeds costs around $14 and will last a long time. They have a mild flavor and don't require much prep, so with a little creativity, chia seeds can easily be incorporated into your diet.

  • Drink and debloat: Celebrity trainer Valerie Waters recommends all her clients drink this debloating chia seed drink to start their day. By boosting levels of fiber and aiding in elimination, you'll be feeling free of bloat thanks to chia.
  • Blend into breakfast: High in vitamin C and boasting more than 10 grams of fiber, this refreshing antioxidant smoothie bulks up breakfast with some chia power.
  • Dress up your salad: Chia seeds and poppy seeds are similar in stature, so amp up the fiber and protein in this lemon salad dressing with chia seeds; the flavors are a riff on classic poppy-seed dressing.
  • Bake them into muffins: Versatile chia seeds are easy to toss into a classic baking recipe like these gluten-free blueberry muffins that are low in calories but full of tasty flavor.
  • Enjoy a sweet treat: Chia seeds and coconut milk marry for a Paleo-friendly pudding that works great for breakfast but feels like an indulgence. Mix together the ingredients the night before, pop it in the fridge, and look forward to it tomorrow. It's that easy.

This Harry Potter Theory About the Marauder's Map Makes SO Much Sense

One of the biggest Harry Potter plot holes - one that bugged me for years - is how Harry (and Fred and George) never noticed Peter Pettigrew (then posing as Scabbers the rat) on the Marauder's Map. I mean, the map shows literally everything that's going on at Hogwarts, and you'd think/hope that the holder would catch important little details like that a deceased man was sleeping in Ron Weasley's bed. The story of Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew's infamous standoff was well-known throughout the wizarding world, so it's unlikely that Fred and George wouldn't have recognized the name on the map and questioned it if they'd seen it. So why, when Ron arrived at Hogwarts with "Scabbers," and for the years following, did no one notice that someone who was supposed to be dead was actually roaming the corridors of the castle?

A theory on Tumblr makes complete sense, considering that the creators of the Marauder's Map were illegal Animagi. James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew wouldn't have wanted to show up on the map while on their numerous and highly dangerous adventures with Remus Lupin, so it's likely they used their remarkable magical skills to protect their identities. In doing so, they also blocked other Animagi from showing up on the map - but only when they were in animal form.

Since Pettigrew was obviously forced to stay in rat form throughout the duration of his time at Hogwarts with Ron, he wouldn't have showed up on the map when Fred, George, and later Harry, were using it. This also explains why Rita Skeeter was able to flit around the castle in beetle form digging up dirt on everyone she could without being found out on the Marauder's Map. Read the full theory and explanation ahead.

Why Kate Middleton and Prince William Broke Up Before Getting Married

Image Source: Getty / Samir Hussein

If you and your significant other have a history of breaking up and making up, you're not alone: there have been a handful of celebrity couples who suffered a split before ultimately getting married, and one of them has royal ties. Yes, Kate Middleton and Prince William called off their relationship before their lavish wedding in April 2011. In 2007, four years after they began dating and four years before tying the knot, the royal couple hit a rough patch and decided to part ways. Clarence House declined to comment about the relationship's end at the time, saying, "We don't comment on Prince William's private life."

"We were both very young . . . we were both finding ourselves and being different characters."
So why did they split? In late 2006, Kate's family invited William to celebrate New Year's Eve with them. The Middletons booked a house in the snowy Scotland countryside. William had agreed to come, but later changed his mind - which did not sit well with Kate. Spending the holidays in Sandringham with the queen is a strict royal tradition, and Kate was not technically allowed to join in his family festivities unless she and William were married. After the new year, William's military commitments - he was to be stationed with the Household Cavalry at Bovington Barracks in Dorset for three months - kept the couple from seeing each other, and Kate was growing increasingly uncomfortable with the aggressive paparazzi and media attention she was getting as his girlfriend. William was also going out a lot with other guys in the barracks; he was spotted on a number of occasions drinking, dancing, and "being flirty" with women in London, which further angered Kate.

The two secretly reunited at a themed party in June 2010, which was held in William's barracks to celebrate the end of his training. It was during their vacation in Kenya that October that William presented Kate with the same 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire ring worn by his late mother, Princess Diana, and asked her to marry him. "I didn't really plan it that far in advance," William told reporters after the engagement was made public. "I just knew I wanted it to feel comfortable where I did it and I wanted it to mean something, other than just the act of getting engaged."

Image Source: Getty / George Pimentel

As we all know, in April 2011, Will and Kate went on to marry in one of the biggest and most newsworthy weddings of our generation. They welcomed their first child, Prince George, in July 2013, followed by Princess Charlotte, who was born in May 2015. In a joint interview after their engagement, William said of their split, "We were both very young . . . we were both finding ourselves and being different characters." He went on: "It was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up so it was just a bit of space, and it worked out for the better." See? There's still hope for your own fairy-tale ending.

We Forgot How Chic a Fur Collar Coat Can Be, Until We Saw Jennifer Lopez Wearing One

Jennifer Lopez is known for her head-turning street style, and during the colder months, the singer and Shades of Blue star, who just wrapped filming the hit show's second season, adds extra chicness by accessorizing with a little fur. While her tomboy character Detective Harlee Santos would probably not wear such statement pieces, Jennifer rocks them like a superstar, as is evidenced by her recent Barney's New York outing in NYC.

Aside from her ankle-length skinnies, J Lo's shopping outfit was totally monochrome with varying shades of brown featured in everything from her handbag to her tassle-clad heels. However, like you might've predicted, our eyes deviated straight toward the focal point of the entire look: her wrap coat with a fur collar. Paired with a sleek top knot and big sunglasses, the bold outerwear added just the right amount of drama to an already-jaw-dropping ensemble. Keep scrolling to see more pictures of J Lo leaving Barney's and shop for your own similar jacket. Then, crank up our playlist of her greatest hits.

18 Slang Words That Will Make You Sound Like an Old Fart

As a Millennial in my 20s, it's hard to believe that my generation is slowly becoming dated, especially when it comes to our slang. Everything we used to think was supercool, like playing Oregon Trail, is now seen as archaic and lame by the generation after us. Since we're not entirely sure if we'll ever get a handle on using the cool new terms like "sus" and "stan," we're going to take a trip down slang memory lane and revisit our favorites. Do you still say any of the words on this list? If so, it might make you sound old, but hopefully it stokes you up and makes you raise the roof with your homies.

It Took Gwyneth Paltrow Less Than 1 Second to Name Her Favorite Designer Bag

When we spoke to Gwyneth Paltrow on the red carpet in NYC, the only accessory she had on was her Frederique Constant smartwatch. Fitting, since the actress and businesswoman was promoting her new collaboration with the brand. "It's the first time I'm wearing it!" she said excitedly, showing off her sleek timepiece. Gwyneth told us she'd use it to jazz up any LBD, describing its special details: "I think this is a black face with some diamonds on it, so that's a nice evening look."

Though she's a natural when it comes to mastering outfits at fancy events, we had to ask about her laid-back yet sophisticated street style - and that's when another major accessory came into play: her handbags."I tend to have Céline bags a lot. I carry them a lot," she said quickly. After a little digging, we discovered that Gwyneth's go-to design is a cobalt-blue luggage tote, but she's got some neutral options too. Read on to see shots of Gwyneth with her Céline, which just might convince you to invest in one (or a similar silhouette).

Say Sayonara to These Fashion Items, Because They Didn't Make the Cut For 2017

As Heidi Klum would say, "One day you're in, and the next day you're out." This could not ring more true for clothes we've worn and trends we've tried in 2016. So what exactly are we saying bye to this year? At the top of the list are black shoelace-style chokers and Stan Smiths - items every fashion girl, including us, sported in one Instagram snap or another. Our reasons for saying bye to the 10 items ahead are quite simple: the new year has inspired us to switch things up. The year 2017 may signify a new you, or at the very least, new clothes (let's toast to that).

Based on our own tastes and Spring '17 runway trends, we've compiled a list of items to retire next year. Whether you have been holding on to that jacket for far too many years or are sick of a particular trend, 2017 is the time to begin anew with your style. Give those pieces a break, and then check out the updated alternatives to wear instead.

What I Learned After Watching All 157 Episodes of Gilmore Girls in 118 Days

Towards the end of the Summer, I found myself feeling mildly confused by life. I was bored with my job and fed up of spending hours each day being herded across London clutching lattes I couldn't afford. My boyfriend and I had been fighting about which of us was more sh*t at doing the dishes and I felt homesick for Scotland. So I took the obvious next step: I pressed play on season one, episode one of Gilmore Girls.

What I was looking for was a little light relief, something non-demanding I could have on in the background whilst I chopped stuff for dinner. What I found was something to devour, hour after hour and episode after episode, as though my very life depended on it. I had to take some breaks, annoyingly, for things like turning up to work, going on holiday, and social interactions with real-life people. But in a mere 118 days, I devotedly worked my way through every. Single. Episode.

Inevitably, the end drew ever nearer. I became genuinely a bit nervous for myself. Would I suffer some kind of instant, all-consuming Gilmore withdrawal? Would I be found writhing around on the kitchen floor, clutching my laptop, screeching the theme tune at the top of my lungs?

Turns out I handled it all pretty well. As the credits rolled on "Fall," the fourth part of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life at the weekend, I actually felt calmer than I have for ages. Despite the whole Last Four Words fiasco, my many questions, and the infuriating bits about Rory being the worst journalist in the entire world, watching the show has felt like wrapping a giant blanket around myself. Coming to the end felt much like coming out of a long Sunday evening bath to a dressing gown waiting on the radiator. And in the immediate post-Gilmore hours . . .

1. I called my mother.

Because I absolutely bawled when Rory, at the end of season seven, says: "To my mom, who is just everything to me and everything I am".

Sure, I sometimes found their best-friend-mother-daughter thing unrealistic during Rory's teenage years (it's not feasible to worry about every single unrealistic bit though so don't try - if nothing else, that level of caffeine consumption would have left them both with some sort of chronic stomach condition). The relationship they share through Rory's 20s, and then in her 30s in the revival, remains genuinely wonderful to watch. Research exists to suggest that a mother-daughter bond is the strongest of all relationships, and when I told my own mum this on the phone she said, "I absolutely believe that to be true, from my experiences both as a daughter and as a mother." Cue more bawling.

2. I felt grateful for people who can remind me of who I am when I feel lost.

Because everyone needs to be brought back to themselves every so often.

Part three of A Year in the Life sees Jess tells Rory, "You should write about you and your mom . . . It's a cool story, it's got a point of view, and it's something only you can write." Almost instantaneously she regains her self-belief, her confidence, and her drive. Jess tells Rory nothing new and nothing surprising, but he reminds her of things she's temporarily forgotten. Having people around you who can do that, who can gently guide you back when you've veered off-course, is a horribly easy thing to take for granted. I thought of the all the people I have in my life who are ready - quietly and reliably - to steady me when I wobble and to make it impossible for me to fall very far apart.

3. I thought fondly of my first love.

Because I totally disagree with what Amy Sherman-Palladino, the show's writer, said about Rory's love life in an interview: "In the grand scheme of Rory's life, who her boyfriend was when she was 16 years old is such a small event."

If a negative early relationship can affect the way you look at the world long after it ends, then a positive one can do the same. When Rory bumps into Dean in the final revival episode, she tells him about her book and he asks her what she'd write about him. Her answer made me tear up (for the millionth time that hour): "That I know that if I hadn't had you with me when I did, I wouldn't be the person I am today. That you taught me what safe feels like." It's highly unlikely I'll ever bump into my teenage ex in the village corner shop, mainly because I've never lived in a village, and if I did I am pretty sure it would be a mega-awkward. I am just as sure, though, that my understanding of love was shaped in part by who my boyfriend was when I was 16, and it was lovely to be reminded for a moment of how lucky that makes me.

4. And finally, I remembered that Wild is one of the most life-affirming books I have ever read and decided to read it again right now.

So I guess that will fill the void. For a day or two at least . . .

I started watching Gilmore Girls because I was looking for something to cheer me up a bit. What I found was a happy, funny, comforting lifeboat that kept me afloat until I felt more able to swim.

These Are the Hot Toys That Sold Out at Every Christmas Since the 1980s

Remember back in the '80s when all you wanted for Christmas was a Cabbage Patch Kid or a talking Teddy Ruxpin, but stinkin' Santa didn't come through for you? Consider it one of the timeless traditions of the holiday season. Check out the most popular toys by year from the early 1980s until now, and before you get too nostalgic, remember that you probably have a kid begging for the two items (one of which is currently going for triple the price on eBay) on the 2016 list. Our hearts go out to you.

Fans of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Will Be Shocked by This News

After 25 years of success, Bobbi Brown will be leaving her cosmetics line.

Her iconic brand, which has been owned by Estée Lauder since 1995, pioneered the idea that cosmetics were supposed to enhance how an individual looked, rather than change it. The milestone anniversary "made me realize it was time to start a new chapter and move on to new ventures," Bobbi expressed in a statement on Estée Lauder's website. Global brand president, Peter Lichtenthal, will continue to run the business after her departure.

Fabrizio Freda, president and chief executive officer of Estée Lauder, recognizes Bobbi's entrepreneurial spirit. "Today the brand is sold in over 70 countries and is a top makeup artist brand founded by a woman," he told Women's Wear Daily. "It's a global prestige cosmetics powerhouse, with a highly promising future, poised for its next chapter of growth."

Bobbi is expected to leave the company at the end of the year and announce her next steps sometime in 2017. She hasn't revealed what's next for her, but the makeup artist runs a successful lifestyle blog and is expected to stay in the business world. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.

The 1 Thing You Should Try Adding to Your Scrambled Eggs

Some people add milk to their scrambled eggs, some prefer heavy cream, and some scramble them in bacon fat. Even if you think you've tried it all, there's one sneaky ingredient you might not have added before, and that's worcestershire sauce. I found this idea in a Facebook comment on our post about how chefs scramble eggs, and I knew I wanted to try it myself because I'm a huge fan of the incredibly savory condiment. The sauce, which is typically used for steak and Bloody Marys, is made of anchovies (yes, really), garlic, vinegar, molasses, salt, onions, chili peppers, and other spices.

So how does it taste in scrambled eggs? It's interesting, but in a good way - I totally approve. I recommend adding 1/4 teaspoon of worcestershire sauce per two eggs and whisking everything together well before cooking your eggs low and slow. The sauce is already really salty, so you don't need to add anymore. The eggs develop a slightly tangy, smoky, umami-rich flavor that's unlike any scrambled egg I've had before. If you have worcestershire sauce on hand anyway, give this a try. It just might become your favorite scrambled eggs recipe.
