This Cat Food Recall Affects 20 Different Kinds of Canned Food
Cat parents may want to take a close look at the canned food they're feeding their kitties tonight. The J.M. Smucker Company announced a limited voluntary recall on Tuesday of 20 kinds of canned cat food, affecting popular brands like 9 Lives, EverPet, and Special Kitty. The products impacted by the recall were produced between Dec. 20, 2016, and Jan. 3, 2017, and the full list can be found below, complete with UTM codes. The J.M. Smucker Company is asking customers who purchased any of the products currently being recalled to call 1-800-828-9980 or email consumer.relations@jmsmucker.com.
The Food and Drug Administration described the recall as both limited and voluntary, pointing to possible low levels of thiamine (vitamin B1) as the cause of concern. Cats fed a diet with a lack of thiamine can develop thiamine deficiencies, potentially leading to wobbly walking, circling, falling, and seizures, though most symptoms are usually reversible. That said, if you've noticed any of these symptoms in your cat, contact your vet immediately!

When Lamar Austin and his wife, Lindsay, welcomed their baby boy at the beginning of 2017, they had no idea the roller coaster of emotions that was about to occur, but we promise, there's a happy ending. The New Hampshire dad was in the middle of a 90-day trial period for a private security job and was on call when his wife went into labor on the Friday night before his weekend shift. When Lindsay gave birth on Sunday, Lamar received a text message from his employer, Salerno Protective Services, that he was "terminated."
As it happens, the Austin family gave birth to the first New Hampshire baby of 2017, so along with Lamar subsequently being let go from his job, their story started making headlines, and it wasn't long until a GoFundMe page was launched for the family.
Since the news of Lamar's termination spread, not only has he received an overwhelming amount of verbal support, but he's also received many job offers, because no one should have to choose between their family and work. It's important to point out that New Hampshire is an "at-will employment" state, meaning that an employee can be fired at any time for any reason, and Lamar's story has reached the state's legislators regarding this issue.
"Sometimes you lose something and you get something even better," Lamar told the Concord Monitor, and we couldn't agree more!

Prepare to Die From Laughter Over 1 Mom's Story of the Gross "Gift" Her Kids Brought Home
Sometimes with motherhood, you don't know whether to laugh or cry, and after she came back from a business trip last Fall, Ashford Evans's kids had her doing both. Despite how disgusting a seemingly sweet surprise turned out to be, this mom's story just keeps getting better, so she had to share her harrowing tale on her blog, Biscuits and Crazy, for all to enjoy - after the initial shock wore off.
It all started after the mother of three returned from a long day of traveling and was greeted by the sweet silence of an empty house. That should've been a sign that things were off, but her homecoming was about to get so much weirder.
Aside from the peaceful emptiness, Ashford noticed how clean the house was and was feeling grateful for her husband's thoughtful gesture.
When I entered the bathroom I was greeted by a sweet citrus smell. The entire bathroom seemed to have been scrubbed just before my arrival. I looked around astonished that my husband would think to clean the house just before my arrival (God knows how much I hate returning to a messy house) and that's when I saw it.
One of the children's cereal bowls sitting on the shelf with what seemed to be an old bar of soap sitting in it.
Even though Ashford didn't remember buying this delightful-smelling bar of soap, she chalked it up to a surprise from her three little ones and moved on.
I picked it up and held it to my nose breathing the scent in. The smell of fresh grapefruit in a perfectly silent house is just short of heaven I believe.
The thing was, I just couldn't quite place when I had bought fancy soap and just exactly where they had found it. Throughout the night I returned several times to inhale its tropical scent. In between making dinner and washing my face. I never bothered to wash my hands after fondling it because it was, afterall, just soap.
Ashford lovingly refers to her kiddos on her blog as Eeny, Meeny, and Miny, and it turns out that their surprise wasn't in fact fancy soap and instead left her wishing for disinfectant.
The next morning . . . Eeny emerged from the guest bathroom pressing the bar to her lips and breathing deeply saying "This is my favorite. I love the way this smells."
"I know!" I wholeheartedly agreed. "What IS that? Where did you guys get that?" I asked.
"Meeny found it in the boys bathroom at Tae Kwon Do and brought it home," she happily replied.
And that's when it hit me. It wasn't some upscale boutique $15 soap I had been caressing for the last 12 hours. It was a urinal cake.
Instead of disinfecting with a fancy bar of soap, Ashford had been sniffing and rubbing a urinal cake from a public bathroom, and her reaction to this revelation is every mother.
With this realization I screamed and jerked it from her [Eeny's] hands flinging it into the trashcan.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!" she cried bursting into tears. "It's my FAVORITE!!!!!"
"WASH YOUR HANDS, YOUR FACE, OH GOD WASH EVERYTHING!!!!!!" I screamed back.And everything went black.
When I came to I realized I had only two options. As I went through my memory and all the things I had touched [eaten] since touching the vile thing I realized that in combination with all the things my kids had touched we really didn't have much of a choice. I mean Tae Kwon Do is on Wednesdays and this was now Saturday!!!! This THING has touched basically everything in my house at this point.
So clearly our options were 1. Burn the house to the ground or 2. Pretend like it never happened and drink a bottle of wine [or two]. I'll leave you guessing as to which I chose.
But either way, here's to kids being the most disgusting creatures ever to crawl the face of the earth and to teaching us some humility in the process.
Thanks to a New Update, Your Instagram Stories Are About to Get a Whole Lot Prettier
Nearly six months after its launch, Instagram continues to make exciting improvements to the popular Stories features. On Jan. 5, Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger announced the addition of so-called live and wide color photos for its iPhone 7 users.
With the release of the iPhone 7, Apple introduced the option to create moving images, referred to as live photos, that are essentially just GIFs. Live photos can be seamlessly uploaded to Instagram in the same way you would upload a regular photo. It's important to note that Instagram does still have its standalone app that creates GIFs, Boomerang, but this update just gives users yet another route.
The other update will really transform your stories. Instagram will now allow users to capture and upload photos using the iPhone 7's wide color technology. Simply put, wide color photos appear more vivid and bright. Now, those same beautiful images can be taken within the app itself and immediately added to your stories or general feed.
These exciting features are officially available today for those with an iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

Netflix is officially bringing back the science-fueled cartoon every '90s kid loved to daydream about in school: The Magic School Bus. That means a whole new generation of kids will hop aboard Ms. Frizzle's famous bus for enthralling field trips, learning plenty about their class subjects along the way. Set in the near future, Leo (Skarsgard) is a mute bartender living in Berlin, whose beautiful girlfriend, Naadirah (Seyneb Saleh), disappears. With the help of two American surgeons (Rudd and Justin Theroux), Leo descends into the city's seedy underbelly in search of his lost love. Megan Michell, also known as YouTuber Meggs and Bacon, used that charming parental confusion to entertain her subscribers and asked her father to narrate her everyday makeup routine.
The improvised voiceover was immediately hysterical, as it was loaded with dad jokes from the very first step. Blogilates Founder Cassey Ho: "I Was at My Thinnest, But I Wasn't My Happiest"
Cassey Ho, creator of YouTube channel Blogilates, has inspired her subscribers since 2009, teaching them effective and attainable ways to get their best body through health and nutrition. Cassey, a digital sensation boasting over 3.4 million subscribers, is a certified group fitness instructor and Pilates mat and Reformer teacher. She created POP Pilates, which fuses pop music with traditional Pilates routines, making the workout fun and engaging for her viewers.
Part of Cassey's appeal is her realistic approach to fitness and health. With over 1 million Instagram followers and 1 million "likes" on Facebook, it's clear that her strategy to make people feel good paid off. But there was a time where Cassey pushed herself to a limit where she realized that, sometimes, reaching a certain goal won't make you happier.
"I wanted to do a fitness bikini competition because I wanted to push my body to see how far I could go, in terms of motivation," said Cassey. "Not in terms of 'how skinny can I get?' It wasn't about that," said Cassey.
With a trainer pushing her and giving her ill-advised diet and workout suggestions, Cassey developed orthorexia, which is characterized as obsessive behavior over eating a "healthy diet." She wouldn't eat apples because of the sugar; she was working out for four hours a day and consuming just 1,000 calories.
"I started to dwindle down and get very thin, and I just remember I kept looking in the mirror and thinking, 'I'm not skinny enough right here; I'm not tight enough right here,' and even though I kept losing weight every single day, I kept finding flaws in myself," said Cassey. The bikini competition got her to her thinnest, but she realized she wasn't as happy as she thought she'd be, toying with the idea of getting breast implants to alter her body because she felt it wasn't good enough as a result.
After the competition, she stopped eating as she had during the eight weeks of preparation and began to gain weight. "People saw me gaining weight and were like, 'do your workouts not work?'" Although the negative comments did hurt Cassey, she realized that working out wasn't about the physical transformation for her. "I realized it wasn't about six-pack abs or having the biggest booty. Literally, that does not define me or anybody else!"
Once she shifted her perspective and decided to do things that made her happy, that's where she saw a positive (and visible) change. "I started dancing more, I got back into Pilates, I started eating more balanced meals - oh, and sleeping more, too. And then the weight started coming off," said Cassey. Becoming happy with her body inspired her video The "Perfect" Body, which garnered 10 million views after it debuted last year. "I was trying to figure out how to take this negative energy and turn it into something else, make a statement," said Cassey. "When I released it, a lot of it was for me, because I needed people to know how I felt. I feel these things and I will crawl into the fetal position and cry. Then people started sharing it. It's not just me! A lot of people are getting attacked."

The Reason the Obama Family's Swing Set Has Left the White House Lawn Is So Sweet
In March 2009, the Obama family was still settling into the White House, and as part of their nesting, they purchased a swing set for Malia and Sasha that has been a fixture on the south lawn ever since. Now that they're packing up to head to their new residence, they have donated the set - which they originally paid for themselves and set up as a surprise for the girls to find after school - to a local organization that helps families in need.
Watching the Obamas pack up to leave the White House is hitting many people hard, and this small detail is adding to the reality that this is truly the end of an era. When CBS White House correspondent Mark Knoller broke the news of the family's sweet gesture in donating the set, one hilarious Twitter user used his Photoshop skills to suggest that it won't just be the Obamas who feel sad about sending the swing set off to a new home.

Lamar Odom is done with rehab, Us Weekly confirms. The former LA Lakers player was released from a San Diego, CA, facility on Thursday. "He is doing so great and looking forward to the New Year," a source told the magazine. Lamar, who recently finalized his divorce from Khloé Kardashian, checked into rehab last month to "work on his mental and physical health" following his almost-fatal overdose in October 2015 when he was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel. He is set to open up about his drug use as well as his relationship with the Kardashian family in an upcoming interview on The Doctors, which will air in full sometime later this month.
