Taylor Kinney Was at the Super Bowl to Watch Lady Gaga, and Wow, Our Hearts
Lady Gaga gave a stunning, nostalgia-inducing performance during the Super Bowl Halftime Show on Sunday, and in addition to having her best friends and parents in the audience - she even stopped during her set to say hi to them - her ex-fiancé, Taylor Kinney, was also in the stands on her big night. Taylor was spotted hanging with fellow actors Zachary Levi and David Walton in the stands and popped up in a photo that made the rounds on Twitter. Though Gaga and the Chicago Fire star went their separate ways in July 2016 after five years together, she has since called him her "best friend" and confirmed that he was the inspiration for her hit single "Perfect Illusion." It comes as no surprise, then, that Taylor would support his former flame through such a huge accomplishment, and we really love it.
Gaga explained their split in a heartfelt Instagram snap at the time, saying, "Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break. We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared." She added: "Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other." We're holding out hope that their break will come to an end and this latest show of affection definitely helps.
Mr. Midnight! Why 1 Dad's OK With Always Being on the Night Shift For His Kids
The following article was written by Ben Stahl, the husband of POPSUGAR Moms contributor Kate Stahl, with a few loving edits from his grammatically superior wife.
It's the middle of the night. Literally, it's 3 a.m., and I feel like someone is watching me. I'm deep into a dream about a strange co-worker's retreat. President Barack Obama is there, as is my mother-in-law and my 3-year-old son. I'm trying to develop a plan with the president to escape, my mother-in-law is being her usual supportive self, and my son is staring at me. I open my eyes mid-dream to realize my mother-in-law is in Indiana, Obama is probably on an extended vacation in Hawaii, and my 3-year-old? Well, he is literally one foot from my face, looking directly into my soul.
For better or worse, I have been anointed the King of the Night by my children. At 1, 2, 3 a.m., they always come to me, bypassing their soundly sleeping mother, despite her side of the bed being closer to our door. I wish I could tell you why, but years in, it's still a mystery to me. Perhaps it's the novelty of my being home since I'm at work most of the day. Perhaps they've already had their fill of Mom by bedtime. Perhaps it's like feeding pigeons; I've simply attracted the behavior over and over and over, and now I can't shake them loose.
For better or worse, I have been anointed the King of the Night by my children.
The stark reality of parenting is that you are suddenly, and what seems like permanently, on someone else's schedule, prioritizing someone else's needs. For me, no time is that more evident than in the middle of the night. During the infant stage, I helped my wife manage balls of poop and spit-up that eventually went to sleep for an hour or two. Once they stopped breastfeeding, however, she tapped out of her nighttime duties, seemingly with the kids' full support. In the toddler stage, our kids turned into walking night wanderers that apparently wanted only the warmth their father could provide. Now they're self-aware little people that crave my emotional comfort, mostly between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. The common thread? The disruption of my REM cycles.
My son is the main culprit of midnight disturbances. Some nights I'll get him back in his single bed, where I'll inevitably pass out for an hour or two; others I will cave and pull his 40-pound, sack-of-potatoes frame over my half-awake body and resume my catatonic state. There, he'll fall asleep between my wife and me like a shallow-breathing sardine, typically lying on his back, not moving much, and radiating heat. Since he actually allows me to go back to sleep so quickly, I tell myself it's not a problem. He'll grow out of it, right?
My 5-year-old daughter, on the other hand, is not so zen in the darkest part of the night. Seven times out of 10 her visits are coupled with all the bedroom, hall, and bathroom lights being thrown on, and lighting-fast sprint through the hallway to, you guessed it, my side of the bed, where she aggressively wakes me with a combination of shaking, panting, and heavy breathing, always joined by a heartfelt story of terror. She has a very creative imagination and a healthy dose of nighttime anxiety.
The apple doesn't fall far from tree. The truth is, I, too, tortured my parents in the middle of the night. They're still talking about how often I woke them because I'd had bad dreams, wet my bed (ahem), or just didn't want to be alone. And my midnight go-to was always my dad. On my most exhausted days, I tell myself that I'm providing my children comfort and security as they develop a sense of self, just like my dad did for me when I was little.
I know someday I will sleep through the night again. I've been told I'll have to pull my teenagers out of bed at noon on Saturdays, but for now, I just really need a nap.
When Are the 2017 Oscars? Plus, Everything Else You Need to Know About the Show
The Oscars are the grand finale of award season, and this year, we have more to look forward to than ever. La La Land is up for an astonishing (and recording-tying) 14 awards, Viola Davis has already broken a record, and unless one of them doesn't show up for their nominated categories, ex-couple Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield will be in the same place at the same time. (It's exciting, OK?) If you're looking forward to the big show, take a look at all the need-to-know details below!
The Nominees
The best picture race is incredibly tight, with Arrival, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Hidden Figures, La La Land, Lion, Manchester by the Sea, and Moonlight all in the running. At least one actor from each of those movies is up for an individual nod, including Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Casey Affleck, Denzel Washington, and Viola Davis. There are also plenty of first-time nominees like Andrew Garfield, Ruth Negga, Mahershala Ali, and Dev Patel.
The Snubs
Notably missing from the list of nominees are Amy Adams (Arrival) and Tom Hanks (Sully) - both of whom ABC accidentally (and awkwardly) listed on the Oscars' website as nominees. Both Hanks and Adams received nominations from the Critics' Choice Awards, but Adams also earned them from the SAG Awards and the Golden Globes. It's not shocking that they're not included, but it is slightly surprising.
The Host
This year's ceremony will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. Meanwhile, Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd are producing the show.
The Presenters
Last year's acting winners, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brie Larson, Mark Rylance, and Alicia Vikander, are all scheduled to be presenters.
When It's On
The Academy Awards will air on Feb. 26 on ABC!

This Isn't an Engagement Ring From Prince Harry on Meghan Markle, but It's Pretty Close
If you want to know Meghan Markle's true feelings about boyfriend Prince Harry, just look at her jewelry. The actress was spotted in London picking out flowers and as she held the bouquets, we got a glimpse of the rings on her finger. A stylish gal to begin with, Meghan expertly stacked a bunch of gold bands together, but one piece - a ring with the letter "H," - stood out the most. We're assuming it's a reference to her royal beau as she already has a necklace baring the same initial. While the ring isn't an actual engagement piece from Prince Harry, to us, it comes pretty darn close.
It's symbolic of their relationship. The actress kept the rest of her outfit casual to let the ring stand out, wearing a green Barbour jacket, jeans, blue beanie, and her wellies. Scroll on to see the powerful ring for yourself, then shop similar versions ahead.
Everything You Need to Know About Flamin' Hot Cheetos and Doritos Bagels
Eating Cheetos for breakfast is officially acceptable thanks to these new Flamin' Hot Cheetos bagels from the Bagel Nook in Freehold, NJ. The same bagel store that graced the world with its over-the-top Oreo Bagels last year is the same one that has introduced these gloriously orange bagels, which are made with actual Cheetos. If Flamin' Hot Cheetos aren't your thing but you still want to indulge in a similar bagel made with one of your favorite cheesy snacks, opt for the Doritos bagel. Both of these specialty bagels ($3) can be paired with homemade cream cheeses that take them to the next level, like ghost pepper, cool ranch, or Southwestern.
The Bagel Nook is already home to bagel combinations that are anything but average, like Captain Crunch bagels with Oreo cream cheese, Fruity Pebbles bagels with birthday cake cream cheese, and Cocoa Puff bagels with crumb cake cream cheese. These cheesy hybrid bagels were the natural next step. "We have a lot of sweet stuff, and we're starting to get into a lot of savory stuff. My father David likes spicy things, so from there we started making these," Alex Berkowitz, who co-owns the Bagel Nook with his father, David, told POPSUGAR over the phone.
Ahead, get up close and personal with the new cheesy bagels by drooling over photos that a few lucky customers have shared on Instagram, and prepare to endure serious cravings for Flamin' Hot Cheetos and Doritos.
Heavy and Whipping Cream Are the Same Thing . . . Right?
To those of you who've been forced to choose between heavy and whipping cream at the supermarket, you've probably pondered it yourself: isn't all cream more or less the same thing?
Not exactly. There are differences in milk-fat content. All cream contains at least 18 percent milk fat: "whipping cream" is made up of 30 percent, while cartons labeled "heavy cream" or "heavy whipping cream" must contain 36 percent or more. Whipping cream, heavy cream, or heavy whipping cream all work for recipes that incorporate whisked air, but don't reach for that half-and-half; at 10.5 to 18 percent milk fat, it simply won't cut it. The more fat content a cream contains, the more stable it's likely to be in a whipped state. Check out our honey whipped topping recipe for guaranteed success.

There's Something So Satisfying About This Guy's Perfectly Organized Artwork on Instagram
If you're sick of scrolling through endless photos of latte art and sunsets on Instagram, we discovered the one account you need to start following for a much-needed change. Visual artist Adam Hillman specializes in assembling colorful masterpieces that are so incredibly soothing to look at. Seriously, just looking at them is sure to give you an eyegasm.
He transforms everyday items, from cereal and jellybeans to crayons and toothpicks, into true works of art. Each piece is perfectly organized in a way that will make any Type A person smile with delight. His intricate designs typically take up to three hours to construct, although some have taken him up to three days - talk about dedication!
We reached out to the creative mastermind to hear a bit more about what drove him to start crafting these aesthetically pleasing patterns back in 2015. "I'm inspired by websites like the Tumblr 'Things Organized Neatly', [the] subreddit 'Oddly Satisfying,' art historical movements like Minimalism, and artists like Mondrian," he told POPSUGAR. He also takes time to consciously appreciate "the colors and pattern of everyday things."
Last year, Instagram "aesthetes" (a term for people who have a special appreciation for art and beauty) started noticing his one-of-a-kind work on social media, and his account skyrocketed from having less than 1,000 followers to more than 100,000 in 2016. Adam posts a different creation every few days, and also sells prints of his fun patterns on Society6. Sit back, relax, and read on to feel the soothing tranquility wash over you.
Did the Oscars Solve Its Diversity Issue With This Year's Nominations?
The nominees for the 2017 Oscars have been announced, more or less yielding the results the industry anticipated. It comes as no surprise that La La Land is continuing to dominate with a staggering 14 nominations, and Casey Affleck has earned a best actor nod in spite of some troubling allegations from his past. After last year's list presented a shocking lack of diversity and earned an #OscarsSoWhite hashtag, though, the biggest question this time around is whether or not the new list of nominees is more inclusive.
Did the Academy diversify its list of nominees this year? In short, the answer is yes. Among the 20 acting nominations, seven were given to people of color. Ruth Negga and Denzel Washington earned best acting nods for Loving and Fences, respectively, while the supporting categories include Viola Davis, Mahershala Ali, Naomie Harris, Octavia Spencer, and Dev Patel. Outside of acting, it's important to note that a handful of predominantly black stories are receiving recognition. Barry Jenkins is up for best director thanks to his moving masterpiece Moonlight, which received a total of eight nominations including best picture. The trend continues with Fences (which received four), and Hidden Figures (which scored three).
For all the progress the ceremony has made toward inclusion, we've still got a ways to go. Yes, there is plenty of diversity in this year's list of nominees, but seven out of 20 is still uneven. There's still a noted lack of Asian and Latino actors and actresses. There's still a shortage of LGBTQ stories. Only four women have ever been nominated for directing, and Kathryn Bigelow was the first to win for Hurt Locker in 2010. In order to better address the problem, we need to go further. It's not just about those the Academy chooses to highlight; Hollywood needs to incorporate more diversity in the stories we see and the actors and actresses we're seeing on the big screen.

How to Not Hate Salads in the Winter
You know eating more veggies can help you lose weight and give you the fiber and vitamins you need to stay healthy, and you feel more energetic after eating a salad for lunch instead of a bowl of pasta, but the thought of chewing cold, crisp veggies on a chilly Winter's day doesn't appeal to you whatsoever. The next time you make a salad, use these tricks and you'll be craving salads even when the snow is falling outside.
- Add roasted, warm veggies: Who said your salad had to be freezing cold? Top your greens with roasted butternut squash, sweet potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, or peppers. They'll not only bring the temperature up but they'll also make your salad feel more substantial, more like a stir-fry or bowl of soup.
- Go for kale over other greens: Darker and thicker, kale requires more chewing so it feels heartier and more robust than romaine or baby spinach.
- Add cooked grains: This is another way to add warmth to your salad. The added fiber will fill you up and keep you feeling satisfied, and the protein will give you sustained energy. Go for cooked quinoa, farro, or brown rice.
Sweet and Tropical Flat-Belly Salad
- Add warm protein: Whether you like grilled chicken or marinated tofu on your salad, make sure it's warm before placing it on your salad. Warmed-up beans will also make an otherwise cold salad feel more inviting in the Winter.
- Go for warm-flavored, thicker salad dressings: Light salad dressings like lemon vinaigrette are perfect for summertime but not as appealing in the Winter months. Choose creamier dressings like Goddess dressing, and skip the dressing and flavor your roasted veggies with cinnamon or cumin.
- Don't forget the healthy fats: Salads topped with whole grains and protein will make them feel more filling, but you also want to include healthy fats to add to that "stay full for hours" feeling. Mix in avocado to add fiber and creaminess to your veggies, sliced almonds or salted sunflower seeds to add crunch, or chia seeds for a healthy dose of calcium and omega-3s that can reduce inflammation that leads to conditions such as asthma, which tends to flare up in the Winter.
- Have soup or bread, too: If you're not 100 percent feeling your salad, have a cup of steaming veggie chili on the side or a slice of warm avocado toast. You'll get your veggies while also satisfying your Winter cravings.

Move Over, Smoky Eyes - Chanel Is Making Smoky Lips and Nails a Trend
Nothing improves our beauty routine - and validates a new, impulsive purchase - like discovering one of our products is multifunctional. Even better if that product comes from a luxe fashion house like Chanel! For the Spring 2017 season, the iconic brand has developed two extremely versatile formulas that will add some serious glam to your makeup bag as well as transform some of the existing items in it.
Behold: the black top coat. Chanel's new sheer onyx lip gloss and matching nail lacquer can be worn on bare pouts and claws to add a smoky haze to your natural look, but the real magic happens when you apply them on top of existing colors in your stash. Any hue - from bright vibrant shades to grungier tones - immediately look sultrier and more vampy, as if they were wearing supersheer black stockings.
Though the concept of "transformer shades" is not entirely new, it is definitely a punkier take on beauty for Chanel, and we're loving it. Plus, it's a totally sound splurge: buying these two products will negate a bunch of future purchases once you see what these moody glazes can do. But if smoky eyes and lips aren't your thing, the brand is also producing orange-red and gold lip gloss top coats (for warming and brightening, respectively).
Read on to see swatches of Chanel's black nail and lip top coats and to shop them - but act quickly, as these products are limited edition!
Why Every Coffee-Lover Should Participate in a "Cupping"
If you were to ask me what's the one beverage I couldn't live without, it would be coffee, no question about it. A steaming cup of strong, black coffee is what gets me out of bed (literally; I'm the opposite of a morning person) and then keeps me happy and caffeinated throughout the day. I know how I like my coffee and the difference between a good cup and one that tastes like burnt garbage, but until I took a recent media trip with Nescafé to Colombia, I was woefully ignorant about the complexities of coffee variations and why I like what I like.
As part of the trip, I participated in my first-ever "cupping" - and not the Michael Phelps kind - at the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation (known as the FNC) in Bogotá, where I got a firsthand look at how the pros make sure every bean that is exported from the country not only meets the high quality standards Colombian coffee is known for but also fits the specific flavor profile preferences that vary from customer to customer, country to country. The experience felt like a cross between wine tasting and taking a pop quiz. Different from school, however, they said there are no wrong answers. That said, I have a newfound appreciation for all the experts and their next-level refined palates.
Here's how it went down!

7 Foods to Absolutely Avoid If You Want Clear, Glowing Skin
Editor's Note: An earlier version of this story included a photo of Amy's Kitchen soup, implying that the can contained BPA. Amy's Kitchen cans do not contain BPA. This is a corrected version of the story. POPSUGAR apologizes for the error.
Two weeks ago, I went to Whole Foods and stocked up on coconut milk, almond butter, frozen veggies, fresh berries, organic meats, wild salmon, and quinoa. My boyfriend could interpret what this meant: Lauren is back on another food detox.
It started last Summer when I completed Dr. Frank Lipman's two-week Be Well Cleanse. This is a 14-day program in which you eliminate the food groups that most people are sensitive to, including gluten, dairy, alcohol, caffeine, nightshade vegetables, and eggs, among other things, replacing them with a plant-based diet that includes select organic lean meats and fish. You also drink three shakes a day incorporating Dr. Lipman's special blend of powders and take supplements. I learned a ton about myself, my habits, and my skin.
Though I have yet to return to the official cleanse, I do repeat some of the guidelines from it when I feel off-balance, seem bloated, or have less-than-desirable skin (blochy, broken out, puffy under-eyes). Typically, I try to eliminate gluten, dairy, and sugar for about a week or two until I feel and look better. Within three days of sticking to this diet plan, my skin brightens, I fall asleep easier and earlier, and my jeans fit better. It's not about dieting or losing weight; it's about creating harmony within my body. A healthy gut undeniably yields more gorgeous skin.
According to Dr. Lipman, "Your skin is your largest organ and a window into what's going on inside your body. Poor food choices that cause inflammation can lead to numerous skin issues."
If a cleanse is a bit dramatic for you, no worries. You can still reap some of the benefits by making these seven food swaps. Dr. Lipman outlined which foods to avoid, why they are toxic for your skin, and what to replace them with.

Hold Up, M. Night Shyamalan May Have Just Confirmed a Split Sequel
M. Night Shyamalan is finally back on audiences' good side thanks to Split, his latest unpredictable thriller. The movie is so bizarre, so disturbing, that it practically begs for a sequel - not to mention the fact that it ends on a huge cliffhanger, referencing another one of Shyamalan's movies. If you're wondering if we'll get to dive back into the world of The Hoard, it sounds like the writer/director is working on a continuation of the story! On Saturday, he teased fans with this tweet:
I have an 11 page outline for my next film in my bag. I can't tell you what it is, but If you've seen #Split...

The 1 Ice Cream Flavor That Might Help Boost Your Breast Milk Supply
There's no denying that breastfeeding is tough, but we've just discovered a potential diamond in the rough. A delectable new Ben & Jerry's flavor could be linked to increasing your milk supply. But before you grab your spoons and scarf down an entire pint, allow us to explain the deal.
Ben & Jerry's Oat of This Swirled flavor contains brown sugar ice cream with fudge flakes and oatmeal cinnamon cookie swirls. Is your mouth watering yet? Due to the fact that the sweet treat contains oats, it's classified as a galactagogue, or a food that boosts milk supply. Consuming a high quantity of natural galactagogues is known to benefit your milk supply and potentially increase it. Other galactagogues include foods like alfalfa, garlic, and fennel, although oats are seen as one of the more effective options because they positively impact milk-making hormones.
If you're looking to up your breast milk supply, it may be worth it to try adding this oat-filled dessert to your grocery list this week!

Sofia Vergara Has No Idea What "Hold Your Horses" Means, Is Adorably Bad at This Game
Sofia Vergara is always a funny lady, but this clip of her on The Ellen DeGeneres Show has us in tears. In the video, Sofia plays a game with Ellen, where she has to guess what expressions are represented by a series of emoji. Unfortunately, the Modern Family actress doesn't guess a single one correctly, proving English phrases are totally confusing when you're bilingual.
Among her hysterical guesses are "a potato chip with a sexy man" for the expression, "a chip on your shoulder" and "horseback ride me" for "hold your horses." It's hilarious to watch Sofia invent her own clichés, and the whole thing just made us love her even more.

Jamie Lynn Spears's Dad Speaks Out After Granddaughter Maddie's Reported ATV Accident
Jamie Lynn Spears's daughter, Maddie, was reportedly involved in a serious ATV accident over the weekend, TMZ reports. The 8-year-old was riding in a Polaris off-road vehicle when it flipped over on Sunday. Maddie was reportedly under water for "several minutes" before she was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Jamie, 25, who shares Maddie with ex Casey Aldridge, was reportedly not with her daughter at the time of the accident. Shortly after the news broke, Jamie and Britney Spears's dad spoke out about the accident to Entertainment Tonight, saying, "All I can say is pray for our baby Maddie."
While exact details about the accident and Maddie's current condition are unknown, a rep for the Spears family released a statement, saying, "The details the media are reporting surrounding the incident regarding Jamie Lynn's daughter Maddie are incorrect. Right now the Spears family asks that everyone respect their privacy during this time and appreciates all the prayers and support for their family." We will update this post as new information develops.

Mom Plays Hilarious Prank on Her Kid After She Wakes Up in the Dark From a Nap
When the nap was so good you think it's the next day when you wake up so you start getting ready for school...
Posted by Lindsey Chastain on Sunday, December 4, 2016
It may only be February, but Lindsey Chastain just won our vote for mom of the year thanks to a video she posted back in December in which she pranks her daughter Lexi, who woke up disoriented from a long after-school nap. At the very start of the video you can tell Lexi is confused because it's dark out, and Chastain convinces her quite easily that it's morning and she needs to get ready for school.
"Where's your book bag . . . we've got to get you to school," the Georgia mom says behind the camera. Chastain continues to video Lexi as she gets ready - the poor girl starts straightening her hair and brushing her teeth - all the while reminding her pressingly that they need to leave. However, instead of ending the prank there and laughing about it at home with Lexi, Chastain brilliantly goes a step further and actually drives her daughter to school in the dark, laughing to herself in the car as Lexi walks up to the front doors.
A confused Lexi returns to the passenger side of the car a moment later to announce that the school's doors are locked and the front desk is empty, and Chastain lets the cat out of the bag through giggles once Lexi gets back into the car. "It's nighttime," she says, but Lexi isn't convinced at first. "You took a nap and you woke up. It's 6:11 at night."
Lexi's surprised reaction elicits more laughs from the funny mom, who posted the full video to Facebook with the caption, "When the nap was so good you think it's the next day when you wake up, so you start getting ready for school." The solid-gold video has since gone viral, for obvious reasons.
Queen Letizia Just Wore a Cape Dress No Other Royal Could Ever Pull Off - You'll Want to See It!
If you're multitasking, stop, because this look on Queen Letizia of Spain deserves your full attention. As hard as it is to believe, the royal stepped out in a hunter-green cape dress to attend the 2016 Innovation and Design Awards in Alcala de Henares, Spain. But if there was any queen who was going to dare to sport such a trendy look, it was sure to be Letizia.
The stylish journalist-turned-monarch, who has worn track pants and leather culottes to official events in the past, left us desperately searching our closet for the cape dress we bought last Fall and haven't worn in a while. If a royal is bringing the look back, so are we, specially since the dress looks so classic paired with a low bun with a side part, crawler earrings, and snake-printed pumps. Scroll ahead to check out more photos of Letizia's look and to find your very own cape dress.
Hailey Baldwin Has a Lot of Bikinis, but She Just Revealed Her Favorite One of All
When you love a bikini style so much, buying it twice isn't strange - it's brilliant. This probably crossed Hailey Baldwin's mind when she picked up her Same Swim swimsuits in two different colors. The model first wore her black-and-white crochet two-piece last May and debuted its sister version in pink over the weekend. Hailey snapped a mirror selfie, leaning against the wall to show off the bikini's cool stitching details.
While Hailey's rose-colored bikini has ties on both sides and the white has none, for the most part the coordinates are identical. The model has a lot of crochet bikinis, but the Same Swim style definitely seems to be her favorite. Though warm weather might not arrive until March, Hailey's convinced us to invest in a crochet bikini of our own. Shop her exact design along with similar styles below.
This Is Already Turning Out to Be Selena Gomez's Sexiest Year Yet
Selena Gomez is back from her 2016 hiatus with a vengeance. Not only is the singer working on a new album (and collaborations with Paulina Rubio and possibly Maluma), she also teased a Wizards of Waverly Place reunion, made out with rumored new boyfriend The Weeknd in the streets of Los Angeles, and posed for a now-deleted topless and thong-clad photo - wow, right?
If all of that is any indication, Selena will surely have her hottest year ever. We predict she'll show off an even more revealing sense of style, give us more sultry Instagram selfies and magazine spreads, and probably come out with the most sensual album cover she's yet to give us. Scroll ahead for her sexiest moments so far.
7 Things Women With Really Healthy Hair Always Do
I love getting compliments on my hair. It's not because I think I have better strands than anyone else, but rather I take it as a reflection of the hard work I put into keeping it at optimal health. First, I've never colored my mane, leaving it in a state stylists refer to as "virgin." Second, I treat my scalp care like skin care - hydrating and moisturizing it in a routine way (co-washes during the week to preserve my curls, deep-conditioning masks on Sundays).
Celebrity hairstylist and Dove ambassador Mark Townsend agreed with this philosophy when we met up at a recent event. "Would you ever skip moisturizer and sunscreen on your skin? No," he said. "You should never skip either conditioner, or at least like a leave-in cream."
You've seen his work atop the heads of A-listers such as the Olsen sisters, Dakota Johnson, and (my personal idol) Lea Michele. Being the hair junkie I am, I decided to quiz Townsend on all of his Hollywood secrets to getting truly beautiful locks. I discovered I was doing several things right (sleeping on a satin pillow case, not shampooing every day), and I also picked up some new hacks (such as using dry shampoo in lieu of hairspray). Keep reading, and start taking notes - you may have some hair homework to do!
