Get All Up In the Female Badassery of Netflix's Girlboss

This week, Netflix unleashed a veritable flood of teasers, trailers, release dates, and other announcements about all its new shows on the horizon. Among the rush of excitement came a first look at the new adaptation of Dear White People, a glimpse of the Anne of Green Gables reboot, and a haunting trailer for Casting JonBenet. But wait, that's not all! We also got our first peek at the adaptation of Girlboss, the true story of Sophia Amoruso come to life in a cheeky, colorful way. Let's go over the major details.

1. The Story

Based on 2015's compelling novel of the same name, this show will tell of the Nasty Gal founder's rise to wild success. It starts with Amoruso's troubling past, which was filled with hitchhiking, petty theft, and even dumpster diving. All it took was one idea to catapult her through a 10-year journey to her title as founder and executive chairman of her global brand.

2. The Major Players

The most prominent member of the small cast, of course, is the woman playing Amoruso. Britt Robertson, whom you may recognize from Tomorrowland and The Longest Ride, will be taking on the part. Robertson will be joined by Ellie Reed, Alphonso McAuley, and Johnny Simmons.

3. The Teaser

4. The Premiere

The first season of Girlboss will be available April 21.

The Story Behind Each of the Songs on Sofía Reyes's Debut Album

It's hard to believe that until Feb. 3, Mexican singer Sofía Reyes didn't have an album. How could that be possible when she has already given us so many hit singles to dance to ("Muévelo," "Contigo (Rest of Your Life)") and cry to ("Solo Yo" featuring Prince Royce)? It's true! But Sofía's first full record only means one thing: there's so much more to come from her!

"I started working on this album about three years ago, which is a long time to work on a record. I'm a little nervous, I'm not going to lie. But I feel like it is the right moment," Sofía said when we caught up with her over the phone a few days before the launch of Louder!. "I've written maybe 100 songs. When I moved here, I had no idea how to do that. It's been a very interesting process for me. I feel like with this album, I found myself as an artist."

What did that process involve? Finding a sound, but also a message. "All the songs in the album have a positive message for me. The album is called Louder!, because our positivity should be louder than our negativity. When I hear the songs in this record, that is what I feel," Sofía said about her debut.

Straight ahead you'll exclusively find the stories behind each of the tracks that made the cut - from how the lyrics came to be to how Sofía added a Latin touch to selecting collaborators like Wisin, Reykon, and Prince Royce - all straight from Sofía herself.

Dear White People, Please Take Notes on This Poignant, Timely New Netflix Show

Of all the new Netflix shows coming this year, Netflix's adaptation of Dear White People might be the most savage. This is to be expected, of course. Considering the new series is based on an already-existing movie of the same name, there's no mystery pertaining to what we're getting. Even so, the heat of the title itself suggests we're in for quite a ride when the latest iteration drops. Wondering what you're getting yourself into with this new original? We've pulled some of the most crucial details just for you.

1. The Premise

Dear White People began its journey as a comedic film in 2014. The story follows the lives of four black students at a predominantly white Ivy League university. The narrative examines different kinds of cultural unrest and racial discrimination.

2. The Cast

The main stars of the show are more up-and-coming than anything, but it seems like that might have been the showrunners' intention. In terms of lead characters, Logan Browning plays Samantha White, Brandon P. Bell plays Troy Fairbanks, and Antoinette Robertson plays Coco Conners.

3. The Trailer

A first look at the series is already going in on a pretty contentious issue: Halloween. The trailer advises white people on the acceptable things to dress as: "pirate, slutty nurse, and any of the first 43 presidents." It would be unacceptable, on the other hand, to dress as a black person . . . which, it seems, is exactly what happens. This is going to get intense.

4. The Premiere

As Netflix so smartly put it, classes begin on April 28.

Santa Clarita Diet: Has Netflix Renewed the Show For Season 2?

While the critical response to Santa Clarita Diet has been mild-to-positive, audiences seem to be eating up season one faster than Drew Barrymore devouring a corpse. Thought the first episodes were just released, you may already be wondering about a second season. The truth is that Netflix hasn't officially renewed the series for a second set of episodes, but it's highly likely that it will.

The show was never billed as a limited series, and given the fact that it ends on a cliffhanger, the plan is probably to keep making episodes. Creator Victor Fresco even hinted to Entertainment Weekly that he's already thinking of directions to take the story: "With any family, crazy situations can be introduced any day, and the strength of the family will determine how they react to those situations, which is where we'll find our characters."

If you recall, the streaming giant also waited a while to announce that megahit Stranger Things would get another season, so just be patient!

5 Facialist-Approved Homemade Avocado Face Masks That Guarantee Glowy Skin in Minutes

You are probably already well versed on the many benefits of eating avocado - and the many delicious ways to do so - but did you know that all those '80s and '90s movies featuring scenes of teens at sleepovers with the fruit slathered on their skin were actually up to something?

"The fatty acids in avocado are really amazing, helping to keep skin persistently hydrated without irritation. In fact, they're great for sensitive skin, calming inflammation rapidly," says Joanna Vargas, celebrity facialist and founder of Joanna Vargas Skin Care Collection and Salon, located in New York City. And, while Joanna says you can reap some of the skin benefits by eating avocado every day (or throwing half an avocado into your morning smoothie), DIYing a mask has the most potential to leave your skin glowy and soft. So, hit the market for a few avos, and scroll ahead for five beautifying recipes.

Revitalizing Mask

If your skin texture and type is normal but could use a little love, this mask is for you. "The yogurt in this mask is anti-inflammatory but also has exfoliating lactic acid," says Joanna. "Avocado has lots of B vitamins and fatty acids, so it's essential to keep the skin hydrated."

Ingredients:
1/2 cup yogurt
1/2 avocado, mashed
1/4 cup honey

Easy peasy: Just mix everything together, apply the mask to skin, and leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing.

Moisturizing Mask

The omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin B in avocado help to bring back moisture to superparched skin. "Honey is great because it's hydrating without risking a breakout, and the mango is loaded with vitamin C, which brightens the skin," says Joanna. Adding a bit of olive oil gives this mask an even stronger hydrating power.

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons avocado, mashed
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 mango, mashed

Mix all ingredients, then apply to face and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse.

Detoxifying Super Green Mask

Wheat grass juice in this recipe makes it deep cleansing. "The juice stimulates lymphatic drainage and adds a boost of nutrients to skin," Joanna says.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup yogurt
1/2 avocado, mashed
2 tablespoons oat grass juice or wheat grass juice

Combine all the ingredients, then apply to face carefully - the juice can make the mask a little runny, so protect your clothes - and leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing.

Antibacterial Avocado Mask

This mask is great for those with mild acne and combination skin. "You get the hydration of avocado but also the antibacterial and soothing properties of both coconut oil and aloe vera," says Joanna.

Ingredients:
1/2 avocado, mashed
1 teaspoon coconut oil
1 teaspoon aloe vera

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Apply to the face and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse with a warm cloth.

Brightening Avocado Matcha Mask

For face or body, this mask is a DIY antiaging dream. "Matcha is an extremely powerful antioxidant, while the honey and avocado deliver hydration, and the brown sugar exfoliates gently," Joanna adds.

Ingredients:
1 teaspoon matcha powder
1/4 avocado, mashed
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon honey

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl. Apply a thin layer to the face (or body), scrubbing gently in circular motions and avoiding the eye area. Leave on for 10 minutes, and rinse with a warm cloth.

5 Ways to Get Killer Abs - in and Out of the Gym

Trying to get those flat, strong abs? Workin' on a six-pack? We got you. Pop Physique founder and professional dancer Jennifer Williams knows a thing or two about building a strong core - and not just in the gym. She's a proponent of moving your body throughout the day, beyond your exercise class, to create a strong and healthy body.

A solid, toned midsection can impact nearly every area of your life; not only does it make your other workouts better, but it can also help with your overall health. "There are so many more benefits to having a strong core than just the obvious aesthetic ones . . . though those are great!" she told POPSUGAR. "But truly, a strong core will improve your posture, relieve back pain, and even help maximize toning of other parts of your body during workouts."

Jennifer shared her core-strengthening tips that you can practice both in and out of class so you can get those abs and feel better, stronger, and more powerful than ever.

In Class

  • Exhale and Contract. "Use a sharp exhale during your workout," said Jennifer. "As you forcefully exhale, feel your abs pulling in. Hold them there. Then repeat with every exhale. Think of your abs pulling in, in more, and in again, without releasing. You'll be amazed by how much more effective your workout is with the right breathing!"
  • Focus and Intensify. Take that focus you're using during you're breathing and apply it to how you're holding and working all your ab muscles. "Try to always focus on working into your deepest ab muscles; we call this transverse abdominis," she said (those are under your obliques!). "Strengthening these muscles creates flat, strong abs. This takes intense focus, but [it] is so worth it as these muscles not only look great when toned, but aid in posture, back flexibility, and much more."

Throughout the Day

  • Work Your Core All the Time. "Pulling in your abdominals throughout your waking hours will bring so much strength to core muscles." Think about holding in, flexing, and contracting your abs throughout the day.
  • Stand Tall. Great posture can improve your core strength. "Draw your abs in and feel a sense of lifting up through the body."
  • Sit Up Straight. If you're at a desk for long periods of time, ensure that your posture is erect and controlled. Hold in your muscles from time to time to get a no-gym ab workout.

5 Creative, Flavorful Hacks For Your Tea Infuser

If you're an avid tea drinker, then you've probably fully embraced the sometimes unwieldy loose-leaf variety. True tea connoisseurs arm themselves with the trusty tea infuser, a handy little tool invented for the sole purpose of steeping your tea while keeping the loose leaves out of your cup. What you might not know about this seemingly single-purpose tool is that it can be used in a variety of ways that extend far beyond your afternoon tea sessions.

Resembling a mesh ball on a chain - or sometimes on tongs - the tea infuser works like a mesh-lined cage that traps the tea leaves as it gets dunked into a cup or pot of hot water. But tea is just one of the many things you can put into the mesh contraption. In fact, a tea infuser can be used to infuse so many flavors into so many different substances, it should really just be called an infuser. Here are five flavorful hacks you can pull off with a tea infuser.

How Aldi May Be Ripping Off 365 by Whole Foods

According to one observer from Business Insider, Aldi's revamped in-store design looks very similar the in-store design of its smaller competitor, 365 Whole Foods. Starting with its switch from cardboard boxes to eye-level shelving, the writer also noted how Aldi's food market now features softer lighting, digital displays, a refrigerated section for produce and wider aisles for customers to shop in. There's also the new location of fresh produce now located at center of the store for customers which makes it all similar to the design of 365 by Whole Foods.

Aldi currently has 1,500 stores located in the US versus just three stores of 365 by Whole Foods, the new, more affordable chain of Whole Foods stores. Although it is unlikely that the emerging market would admit that they intentionally copied the in-store design of 365 by Whole Foods', that hasn't stopped people on the internet from talking about it. Check out these photos of 365 by Whole Foods' in store design, and then let us know if you think the two designs are strikingly similar or just a coincidence.

5 YA Books You'll Be Able to See on the Small Screen This Year

With their explosive fan bases and (typically) movie-friendly storylines, young adult novels have been blowing up the silver screen for years now. Thanks to the rampant success of adaptations like Harry Potter and The Hunger Games, it didn't take long for the TV world to catch on and churn out hits of its own (we still miss you, Gossip Girl). This year is an especially good time for fans of YA books, since a handful of them are set to hit our TV screens over the next few months. From A Series of Unfortunate Events (which is already out and amazing, by the way) to a reboot of Anne of Green Gables, get ready to fall in love with these stories all over again.

Harry Potter: Where Are All the Kids Now?

Yes, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson are doing high-profile stuff, but did you know that there are Game of Thrones and Star Wars cast members? Check in with everyone now!

14 Terrifying Things About Your Baby That Are Totally Normal

If you were to ask my husband on the day my daughter was born, he would have told you that she wasn't the adorable baby I saw. To him, she was an eight-pound bundle of medical emergencies. From the look of her, he swore she had two different forms of skin cancer, and if we ever gazed at her for too long, he'd find something devastating to point out: "Why are her legs curved like that?" "Her eyes - they're crossed again!"

Thankfully, all of those horrific things he discovered about our baby turned out to be, well, normal baby stuff . . . as weird as some of it is.

To calm your nerves, here are most of the strange but perfectly safe physical attributes of your newborn baby.

Keep reading to see six men who were lucky enough to catch Scarlett's eye.

The 1 Twitter Account You Need to Follow For Hilarious Photoshopped GIFs of Donald Trump

Donald Trump's first few weeks in office are mostly a flurry of signatures enacting multiple executive orders. Though many have reacted by joining in on protests, some internet geniuses are choosing to cope with these polarizing rulings with a sense of humor. Right on the heels of the hilarious memes that surfaced after the POTUS's first order of business, we've just been presented with an even funnier parody of his actions.

The Twitter account TrumpDraws has only been active since Jan. 30, and it's already garnered more than 50,000 followers. The chuckle-worthy account tweets the same clip of the president showing his signed executive order binder to the cameras, except the GIFs are edited to include different poorly drawn photos on the paper. Feel like you've seen this meme before? Interestingly, this meme comes from a different executive order Trump has signed, not the first one.

You'd think by now he'd know the most valuable lesson among political leaders: never turn a piece of paper toward a camera. But Trump remains seemingly oblivious to the all-encompassing powers of Photoshop. Read on for some of the funniest Trump drawings that have been created so far.

6 Spa Facials That Women of Color Should Try For Glowing Skin

There are few beauty experiences more pampering than a luxurious facial. But for women of color, that moment of relaxation can morph into a nightmare pretty quickly if your face is left in the wrong hands. At times, melanin-rich skin can be a breeding ground for issues like hyperpigmentation, acne, and dryness, leading to an unflattering gray cast.

If you bundle these issues with a facialist who isn't well-versed in dark skin, you'll no doubt regret booking that spa appointment in the first place. The last thing you need is scarring after a chemical peel gone wrong or a mask that aggravates acne you've spent too many sleepless nights trying to heal.

We consulted with some of our favorite spas to discover the best facials to keep darker skin looking fab. Read on for the details, and cheers to glowing skin!

1. Bliss Spa: No 'Zit' Sherlock Facial

The facial: On deep complexions, acne can leave behind dark spots that can take forever to fade. Bliss Spa's No 'Zit' Sherlock treatment (75 mins, $175) includes extractions as well as a gel-based peel with a blend of salicylic and mandelic acids that help reduce hyperpigmentation caused by acne and sun damage. The peel also works to combat bacteria linked to acne. The treatment wraps with a soothing seaweed mask, which tightens pores and leaves skin feeling smooth.

Why it works for dark skin: This facial is a good option for those with oily and acne-prone skin, as the salicylic and mandelic acids help control sebum production. According to Bliss Spa technician Nandi Wagner, there's another major benefit for women of color. "Some alpha hydroxy acids, like glycolic and lactic acids, have been known to irritate the skin and can lead to an increase in pigmentation issues for women of color," Wagner notes. "The combination of salicylic and mandelic acids is safer to use for deeper skin tones because they provide the exfoliation of other AHAs without the irritation."

2. Clarins: Even Skin Perfector Facial

The facial: Clarins stresses that the key to treating discoloration is choosing a treatment that keeps the overall tone of your skin intact. The Even Skin Perfector facial (50 mins, $75; 80 mins, $95) does just that with powerful acerola extract, a wild cherry from South America that's chock-full of vitamin C.

Why it works for dark skin: "Acerola extract targets pigmentation directly by slowing down the production of melanin," says Milana Knowles, senior director of spa development at Clarins. This is an especially good treatment to try after excessive sun exposure, as UV rays stimulate the production of dark spots. "Acerola extract reduces overproduction and subsequently restores a normal level of melanin synthesis," she says.

3. Exhale: Power Facial

The facial: Whether you're struggling with signs of aging, acne, or sun damage, Exhale's Power Facial (60 mins, $245) can meet your needs with its advanced peel and innovative Coolbeam laser. You'll start with an exfoliating mask to revive dull, dehydrated skin, followed by extractions to unclog pores and detoxification. To close, the esthetician treats skin with either Coolbeam or ultrasonic therapies.

Why it works for dark skin: The Power Facial is a great choice for women of color who tend to suffer from dry skin. The facial's Z Peel contains Mucor Miehei Japanese mushroom enzymes that are known to plump, brighten, and soften fine lines. "The Z Peel mimics the skin's own cell turnover process, making it both gentle and effective," says Laura Benge, Exhale's national spa director.

4. Joanna Vargas: Triple Crown Facial

The facial: There's a reason why celebrities love Joanna Vargas's Triple Crown facial (60 mins, $250; $550 with Joanna). The mix of exfoliation and soothing oxygen therapy removes impurities and dead cells and allows products to penetrate more deeply into the skin. The gentle exfoliation also helps to even out the skin tone, which is helpful for women of color suffering from hyperpigmentation. Bonus: the use of oxygen is anti-inflammatory and boosts collagen production.

Why it works for dark skin: "As a Latin woman, I pride myself on understanding skin of all tones," says Joanna Vargas, celebrity facialist and founder of Joanna Vargas Salon and Skin Care Collection. "The Triple Crown Facial works great for women of color in particular because it is not product-heavy. Many women of color have extremely sensitive skin and any type of inflammation in the skin could result in long-lasting discoloration."

5. LaVida Massage: Ultrasonic Facial

The facial: Acne-prone skin in particular is the perfect candidate for a treatment involving a deep cleaning method. With the Ultrasonic Facial (60 mins, $85 for members, $115 for non-members), a light paddle is used to deliver a low-frequency ultrasonic vibration that lifts dirt from the face and loosens dead skin cells. The machine flushes the skin with water to remove dirt from pores, and steam might be added for more intense results. The treatment includes Dermalogica products like a brightening serum and a mask to revitalize the skin.

Why it works for dark skin: The Ultrasonic Facial involves a thorough cleaning and is also customizable, making it a great option for women of color with specific skin concerns ranging from acne to dullness. And there's one other benefit: anti-aging effects. "The Ultrasonic Facial Treatment is recommended for those seeking anti-aging benefits because of the fantastic lifting properties associated with the method," says Joy LaPointe, the skin therapist and manager at LaVida Massage's location in Brighton, Michigan.

LaPointe recommends clients with hyperpigmentation follow up the Ultrasonic Facial with Dermalogica's PowerBright TRx Treatment Kit ($40), featuring the C-12 Pure Bright Serum for hyperpigmentation, Pure Light (SPF50), and Pure Night, a nourishing overnight treatment moisturizer to maintain luminous results.

6. Red Door Spa: Skin Illuminating Advanced Brightening and PRO Renewal Facials

The facial: Elizabeth Arden's Skin Illuminating Advanced Brightening Facial (65 mins, $145-$160 based on location) is the answer for treating hyperpigmentation and dry skin.

Why it works for dark skin: It addresses dark spots, uneven skin tone, and complexions lacking the healthy glow we all strive for. A mix of vitamins A, B3, and C; licorice extract; and exfoliants, including melting microbeads and natural enzymes, work to target excess melanin production in the skin to boost brightness and promote hydration. The facial's use of salicylic acid "delivers anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties to heal and reduce inflammation from breakouts and balance excess oil production," says Balaguera. Because of this, women of color with any scarring or discoloration issues would find this facial especially helpful. For optimal results, a series of six to eight treatments is recommended.

Never Forget That Time Norman Reedus Played Lady Gaga's Lover in a Music Video

The year is 2011. Lady Gaga is mere weeks away from dropping her third studio album, Born This Way. To get her fans good and prepped for the highly anticipated release, she releases a music video for "Judas," the second single off the album. Meanwhile in 2017, Gaga's spectacular Super Bowl halftime show performance, announcement of her Joanne World Tour, and release of the "John Wayne" music video have sent fans into a tizzy. As I, a longtime fan, tried to process everything, I was sent spiraling back into some of Gaga's most iconic videos, where I made a shocking discovery. Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl on AMC's The Walking Dead, was in the "Judas" music video all those years ago. TWD, a new show at the time, had just finished its first season, and Reedus hopped on a different motorcycle for an entirely different role: as Judas himself.

20 Years Later, Selena's Husband Chris Perez Watched Her Biopic - Here's What He Thought

Even though Selena Quintanilla's beloved biopic was released exactly two decades ago, the late singer's husband Chris Perez had yet to see it. When Chris came across the movie while channel-surfing on Feb. 6, he decided to finally watch and share his thoughts in real time with his thousands of Facebook followers.

Naturally, there were a few things the movie got wrong. In a few posts, Chris pointed out certain timeline errors. For the most part, however, the movie was fairly true to life. For example, his bandmates actually trashed that hotel room and those Selena fans actually tried to tow her tour bus - resulting in the broken bumper they said they would hang in their garage! Though Chris didn't end up making it through the entire movie given its painful ending, he was ultimately impressed by the movie, and Jennifer Lopez's performance in particular.

Scroll ahead to read Chris's various thoughts on Selena.

It's Impossible Not to Laugh While Watching This News Anchor Attempt to "Decode" Emoji

How well do you know your emoji? According to this segment by Q13 Fox News station, probably not as well as you think you do. In the well-intentioned three-minute video, a news anchor attempts to decode how teens are using emoji in their text messages.

"This could mean you're ugly. I'm telling you you're ugly by using this frog in a text," he says with a straight face while explaining to another news anchor what the frog emoji really means. He also explains what the fox and eyeballs emoji signify. Trust us, it's not what it looks like.

Twitter user Bry_Nap caught a glimpse of the segment and uploaded a recorded clip on his Twitter page. "Alright who snitched," he captioned the now-viral tweet.

At press time, the one-minute clip had more than 25,000 retweets and 40,000 "likes." Others teens were also quick to chime in with their own funny interpretations of popular texting emoji.

17 Fashion Designers Whose Runway Style Hasn't Aged a Bit

Just because you're a fashion designer doesn't mean you're required to step out in one of your latest creations every time you leave the house. In fact, it's quite the contrary - many of the industry's most iconic people stick to some sort of signature style when presenting their shows, whether it's rocking a simple T-shirt à la Prabal Gurung or styling a classic white button-down like Carolina Herrera. And if you need any further proof that designers rarely stray from what they like, think back to a time when you saw Karl Lagerfeld without his glasses and a collared shirt. Pretty much impossible, huh? So as we set out to see all the gorgeous looks these designers present for Fashion Weeks in New York, Paris, and beyond, let's take a moment to analyze the signature looks of some industry greats.

The 1 Thing You Haven't Noticed About Lady Gaga's Latest Music Videos

On Wednesday, Lady Gaga unleashed the "John Wayne" music video out of nowhere! The surprise created a trifecta in a week that already gave us an incredible Super Bowl halftime show and the Joanne World Tour. While watching the new music video dozens of times since it dropped, we couldn't help but notice something exciting about it: it picks up right where "Million Reasons" leaves us. Since the same thing happened in "Perfect Illusion," it's possible Gaga is stringing together one long narrative with each of her new videos. Don't believe us? Let's look back.

"Perfect Illusion"/"Million Reasons"

At the end of the "Perfect Illusion" music video, Gaga barrel-rolls in the dirt before the shot pans to the sky and displays the song title. The exact same thing happens at the beginning of the "Million Reasons" video before we transfer into the softer, more emotional song. Even before "John Wayne" was released, it was clear these two went hand in hand. "Perfect Illusion" is all about that shot of rage that comes with an initial breakup, while "Million Reasons" is the more meditative mental state where you really start to let go.

"Million Reasons"/"John Wayne"

While these two don't have the shot-for-shot similarities, the beginning of "John Wayne" is still a clear transition from the end of "Million Reasons." Gaga's still in the same outfit, in front of the same stark white background, with the same guitar. Once that cowboy blazes by, the camera shot pulls out to reveal a much different scene. And then we embark on the strange, incredible journey of part three.

"John Wayne"/???

So, a LOT goes down in the "John Wayne" music video. I mean, there have to be three or four different Gagas at the end. One, it seems, dies in the car wreck. Another's dancing near the wreck, on the back of a backup dancer. A third is wearing boots with a gun in the platform . . . which she uses to shoot the Gaga with the backup dancer. Is there another Gaga who gets carried in by her John Wayne? And then there's the one from the start, in the pink suit, with the white background and the guitar. This video actually has a "The End" title card, so this could be the end of the story. That said, given everything that happens, we could see how the narrative might continue.

The 1 Thing Jill Biden Wants Moms to Know About Raising Empowered Daughters

Despite being second lady of the United States for eight years, some of Dr. Jill Biden's most memorable moments involve being a mom to now 35-year-old Ashley. Jill has successfully raised a strong daughter and realizes that it's more important now than ever for parents to continue empowering their own little girls.

As this proud mom beamed at Ashley's latest accomplishment - founding a line of ethically conscious apparel called Livelihood, which supports economic development in local communities - it's clear that Jill doesn't take her daughter's ability to follow her passion in social work for granted. As she celebrated the launch of Ashley's line, Jill took a moment to recognize the next generation's growing females and shared advice on shaping future role models.

"I think the most important thing as a mom, and also a teacher, is to give kids confidence. And I tried that with Ashley because confidence is very important - especially for women," Jill told POPSUGAR Moms at a celebration for Livelihood and Gilt. "Girls need to be strong because they have to keep it together and handle a lot more responsibilities right now."

However, Jill understands that even parents who want their daughters to grow up to be future leaders might not know exactly where to begin. The professor and author credits a simple daily action the former vice president and she took on for making the difference for her family. "I think it's about positive reinforcement every single day, and I suggest that to moms, as a mom," Jill said. "Joe is a great coparent because he is just so involved with our children and grandchildren - it's the contact and that constant communication."

Can You Really Touch a Royal? 2 Rules to Meeting Members of the Monarchy

If you've ever been nervous about meeting your significant others's parents, it's nothing compared to the amount of pressure that comes with greeting a member of the British royal family. There is a nuanced royal protocol in place as a way to ensure universal respect for Queen Elizabeth II and the rest of her relatives, and although it's rather simple, people still manage to break it all the time. In 2009, Michelle Obama was chastised for hugging the queen, and basketball superstar LeBron James was called out in 2014 for putting his arm around Kate Middleton after the Cleveland Cavaliers won a game against the Brooklyn Nets. Although many people would sell an organ to get a hug from Michelle or LeBron, each broke the number one rule when meeting the royals: don't go beyond a handshake.

We might fawn over Kate Middleton's down-to-earth personality now, but years ago the royal family was treated with such supreme reverence that they were likened to divine beings, therefore touching them was off limits. In an interview with the BBC, British historian Kate Williams explained that "from medieval times, monarchs were divinely appointed to rule by God, so they were kind of seen as gods, so they demanded to be treated as gods." Luckily the modern royal family didn't object to either Michelle or LeBron's breaches in protocol, a sign that they're more than open to adopting a more relaxed level of formality. The monarchy's official website makes it clear that "there are no obligatory codes of behavior when meeting The Queen or a member of the Royal Family," but outlines a few options for anyone who chooses "to observe the traditional forms."

How to physically greet the royal family:

The monarchy suggests women do a small curtsy and men do a neck bow (from the head only), although other people "prefer simply to shake hands in the usual way." After the incident with the first lady, a Buckingham Palace spokesman actually denied that there are strict rules about being tactile with the queen. "It was a mutual and spontaneous display of affection," he said. "We don't issue instructions on not touching the Queen." A similar thing happened when a fish market employee appeared to place a hand on the queen's back in 2013, and her reps released a statement saying, "She did not touch the Queen, and even if she had done the Queen would have taken no offense."

What to say while meeting the royal family:

It also notes that the formal way to address the queen is "your majesty," and afterwards, "ma'am." If you're speaking to other members of the royal family (i.e. Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, etc.), it's "your royal highness," and then "sir" or "ma'am." This rule doesn't fly with Prince William, however, who once said "I am and always will be an HRH. But out of personal choice I like to be called William because that is my name and I want people to call me William - for now."

The Backpack Challenge Might Be the Most Savage One Yet

In case you thought those viral challenges couldn't get any crazier, the #BackpackChallenge is here to change your mind. According to Mashable, the challenge was created by Twitter user abucciwood back in November and is very similar to the game dodgeball.
