A Simple Breakdown of What Moonlight Is About
While the glitz and glamour of La La Land has earned the larger-than-life musical a record-tying 14 Academy Award nominations, a heartbreakingly beautiful underdog may be giving it a run for its money. Moonlight, nominated for eight Oscars, draws on the lives of director Barry Jenkins and writer Tarell Alvin McCraney and is based on McCraney's stage play, In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue. It tells the story of Chiron, a young black man growing up in a rough Miami neighborhood and evolving from a shy child to a complex, troubled adult.
Act 1: "Little"
Chiron's story is told in three parts, and the main character is portrayed by three different actors, depicting him at varying milestone ages. Alex Hibbert opens the film as a quiet, school-age Chiron, who people call "Little." He's bullied by classmates and mistreated by his sole caretaker, his single mother, Paula (Naomie Harris), who is addicted to drugs and wavers between neglect and abuse. Young Chiron finds an unexpected father figure in Juan (Mahershala Ali), the kingpin of the local drug trade. It's in the home that Juan shares with his girlfriend, Teresa (Janelle Monáe), where Chiron feels safe, cared for, and comforted. This haven, however, is shattered once young Chiron realizes the role Juan plays in his own mother's drug addiction.
Act 2: "Chiron"
Amid the bullying that forces Chiron (now going by his real name) into isolation, he finds a friend in classmate Kevin (played first by Jaden Piner and later as Jharrel Jerome and André Holland). The bond they forge through the film's second chapter, however, is broken as a peer named Terrel (Patrick Decile) sets his sights on mercilessly abusing a teenage Chiron (now played by Ashton Sanders). The complexity of Chiron and Kevin's relationship reaches its peak during an intimate encounter that, for the first time, forces Chiron to confront his sexual identity. This continued struggle with his sexuality is central to Chiron's story, and his initial exploration with Kevin causes confusion. It's followed by an act of betrayal that leads to a pivotal turning point.
Act 3: "Black"
It's in the film's third act that Chiron's story comes full circle as he struggles to make sense of his adult life and find peace in the fractured and fragmented relationships of his past. Trevante Rhodes portrays this grown-up version of Chiron, called "Black," facing the fallout of his complex, painful youth.
While the question "What is Moonlight about?" can be succinctly answered in chronological plot points ("He is gay. He grows up. The end," as Kristen Page-Kirby teased in The Washington Post), the true answer can't be conveyed in a simple synopsis. "That's what happens in Moonlight, but that's ultimately not what it's about," Page-Kirby continued. "What it's really about, though, is what it's like to live that life."

16 Swimsuit Moments Guaranteed to Keep You Warm This Winter

We're only a couple of months into the year, but we've already been blessed with so many hot bikini moments.
9 Things You Never Knew About Disney's Mulan
Almost 20 years later - yes, 20 years (cries into pillow) - a live-action version of Mulan is in the works with director Niki Caro at the helm. The original animation is extremely empowering to women, so it's awesome that a female will be behind the lens, controlling our favorite childhood warrior princess's portrayal this time around. As we await our modernized heroine, and her potentially CGI-animated companions Mushu and Cri-Kee, we can look back fondly on the Disney original - because let's be real, we all still revert back to our 7-year-old Capri Sun-loving selves when "I'll Make a Man Out Of You" comes on Pandora. Now that we know when the reimagined film will premiere, let's take a look at nine facts you probably never knew about Disney's first Asian princess and OG girl-power-charged badass.
- The story of Mulan was originally a folk song. The legend of Mulan was derived from "The Ballad of Mulan," a folk song from the Northern Wei Dynasty. In the ballad, Mulan impersonates a soldier and is away from her family for 12 years. The model for Disney's version, however, likely stems from Xu Wei's play The Heroine Mulan Joins the Army in Place of Her Father.
- Disney's animators worked their own names into the movie. As author Joshua C. Shaffer details in his book, Discovering the Magic Kingdom: An Unofficial Disneyland Vacation Guide, you can see the names of the animators (written in ancient Chinese) when Mulan sings "Reflection" in her father's shrine.
- Lea Salonga is the singing voice for Mulan and Aladdin's Jasmine. The Filipino artist originally auditioned for the role of Mulan, but her voice was too high for the speaking role. Instead, the crew used her pipes for Mulan's voice in the "Reflection" scene.
- Mulan played a pivotal role in launching Christina Aguilera's singing career. Aguilera's manager, Steve Kurtz, sent Disney a demo of the former Disney Mouseketeer singing Whitney Houston's "Run to You" recorded on a boombox in her family's living room. According to Rolling Stone, after Disney debuted her version of "Reflection," the track caught the ear of RCA Records, Aguilera was signed in 1998, and the rest is history.
- Jackie Chan dubbed Captain Li Shang's voice in the Chinese release of Mulan.
Before his Rush Hour days, Jackie Chan was a famous singer and actor in China. Chan started singing credit songs for his films in the '80s before taking on a voice acting role in Disney's Mulan. It turns out Chan can perform his own stunts and sing his own tunes. The multitalented star even made a music video for "I'll Make a Man Out of You"!
- Capturing crickets (like Cri-Kee) in cages was a normal thing to do in China. Crickets played a large part in Chinese culture for over 200 years. During the Tang Dynasty, "The crickets were respected for their powerful ability to 'sing,'" and were seen as good luck, just like in the film. It was during the Tang Dynasty that crickets were being captured and kept in cages so their songs could be heard all the time. In the film, this is why we see Grandmother Fa put a caged Cri-Kee in Mulan's dress as she gets ready to meet the matchmaker.
- The directors make their own cameos. Animated versions of directors Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook appear as the firework technicians in the Emperor's Palace. They will forever be known to audiences as the two guys who get the sh*t scared of them by Batman Mushu.
- In one version of the legend, Mulan has a younger brother. We see him in the screenplay of Mulan Joins the Army (1939). In the screenplay, Mulan tries to use logic to persuade her father not to go to war. "How could your body handle the icy wind and snow from the north?" she asks, in the black-and-white film. "With Older Brother Dead, and Little Brother still young, and Elder Sister about to marry . . . the whole family is relying on your guidance. As I see it, you mustn't go." Disney gives a playful nod to her younger sibling's presence by naming Mulan's dog "Little Brother."
- Disney tried to make Mulan as culturally accurate as possible by sending a group of visual artists to China. As reported by the Orlando Sentinel, Disney really wanted to do ancient China justice: "Producer Pam Coats, directors Tony Bancroft (twin brother of Tom) and Barry Cook and a cadre of artists and designers spent weeks in China taking thousands of photos of trees, architecture, people and historic landmarks." The trip's influence led animators to include darker and more minimalist visual textures that were further in line with traditional Chinese art.

When it's all said and done, this is how we dressed for the week IRL. Yep, the real deal from three editors at New York Fashion Week. Take a look inside.

Darth Maul as Supreme Leader Snoke? It's More Likely Than You Think
Going into all the madness surrounding Star Wars: The Last Jedi, we've got quite a few mysteries to figure out. Not only are we trying to unpack the meaning of "the last Jedi" and uncover the identity of Rey's parents, but we've also got one big question to answer on the dark side: who the hell is Supreme Leader Snoke? We came up with a few theories of our own, but we couldn't help but notice the kind of fodder elsewhere on the internet. That's when we happened upon one truly crazy theory: that Snoke is actually a villain we've seen before - Darth Maul. Let's go over how it could prove true.
1. Darth Maul Is Not Dead
We all remember how Obi Wan Kenobi brutally cuts Darth Maul in half in The Phantom Menace and lets him fall to his death. It seems pretty definitive. But, well, Darth Maul goes on to appear in the TV shows The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. While many reject these TV series as official parts of the Star Wars canon, it's worth noting that Disney has begun producing them. This would mean that all creative decisions made pertaining to the TV shows are likely made with the events of the films in mind. Plus, if Darth Vader can lose half his body from lava burns and survive, there's a chance Darth Maul could too. Even his official bio on StarWars.com corroborates the fact that he did not die.
2. It Would Explain One of Snoke's Most Telling Comments
The whole reason we're attempting to trace Snoke back to a Star Wars character we've already met is because he says one very crucial thing in The Force Awakens. Snoke reveals that he witnessed the rise and fall of the Galactic Empire. Considering how the rise of the Empire happens in the first trilogy (Episode I to Episode III) and the fall happens at the end of the second trilogy (Episode IV to Episode VI), we're potentially looking for a character who's been around since the very beginning. If you accept the TV shows as canon and believe Darth Maul survived, he certainly fits in here. As for the second trilogy, just because we didn't see him doesn't mean he wasn't around. He could have been in hiding.
3. His Powerful Origins
Darth Maul was an apprentice of the evil Darth Sidious, one of the most terrifying and powerful Sith Lords on the dark side. It's also clear that he possessed great agility and combat skills. Perhaps his hatred for Obi Wan fueled him and made him hungry for more power and even revenge. With such powerful desires lighting his way, it would make sense that he would strive to rise in the ranks of the dark side. This might explain how he eventually came to be the leader of the sinister First Order.
4. They Sound the Same
If you go back and listen to the handful of lines uttered by Darth Maul and compare them to Snoke's voice in The Force Awakens, it's pretty clear that they sound quite similar. It's not just the gravelly quality of their respective voices, either. They share the same accent, tone, and basic inflection. That's pretty hard to write off.
5. But What About the Horns and the Face Tattoos?
Obviously, the biggest hole in this theory is Darth Maul's unmistakable face tattoos and skull horns. But, I mean, come on! Look at Snoke. It's clear he's been pretty badly deformed by some kind of accident. It stands to reason that Darth Maul could have endured some extensive, brutal body trauma that left his face and head permanently changed. It's also worth noting that Darth Maul's mother, Talzin, is a powerful Force witch. It's possible she found a way to transfer her son's consciousness into a vessel that could better handle him. With Darth Maul inhabiting a different body, his tattoos and horns would obviously be gone.
We're not going to take credit for this pretty out-there theory, though. If you want to get down to the nitty-gritty, it's all outlined in the video below.
Maybe it's time to put those tinfoil hats back in the closet for now.

The EGOT: Which Stars Are Almost There?
Even though we've burned through most of award season, the biggest ceremony is still on the horizon: the Oscars. The EGOT - an acronym for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony - is Hollywood's grand slam of awards, and only a handful of celebrities (like Audrey Hepburn, Whoopi Goldberg, and Mel Brooks) have made the list. For now, Jessica Lange only needs to round out her award collection with a Grammy, while stars like Taylor Swift, Adele, and Sam Smith are halfway there. Justin Timberlake could get that much closer if he wins best original song. And Lin Manuel-Miranda, on the other hand, would clinch the honor if he won instead. Keep reading to see who else is close to an EGOT.
Meryl Streep's Marriage Has Lasted as Long as Her Career
Meryl Streep knows a thing or two about long-term success, and her marriage is no exception. She and sculptor Don Gummer have been married since 1978, and he's been by her side at a number of industry events and award shows in the years since. Meryl may have been mentioned more than God in Oscars acceptance speeches over the last decade, but at the 2012 Academy Awards, it was her husband who received a sweet shout-out. When Meryl won best actress for The Iron Lady, she said, "First I'm going to thank Don because when you thank your husband at the end of the speech they play him out with the music, and I want him to know that everything I value most in our lives you've given me."
The pair first met after her partner John Cazale - of The Godfather and The Deer Hunter - died of bone cancer. She was invited to move into the vacant apartment of her brother's friend Don, who was traveling abroad, and when Don returned, she ended up staying, and they were married within six months. The couple now have four kids together, including one son and Meryl's three look-alike daughters. As the actress celebrates her 20th Oscar nomination, let's look back at the pair's sweet relationship through the years.

The Smartest Sur La Table Shoppers Take Advantage of This Store Policy
I recently discovered the most incredible policy from Sur La Table: the kitchen supply store matches its prices. The company policy reads: "We never met a price we wouldn't match! At Sur La Table, we work hard to bring you the best products at the best price. But if you ever find a product we carry offered at a lower price someplace else, just call 800.243.0852 - and we'll meet the competitor's price."
"For any product? Even in stores?" you may be wondering. In my experience, yes! For Valentine's Day, my boyfriend wanted a Bonavita Electric Kettle, priced at $95. I remembered I bought mine on Amazon for $76. I felt hesitant to make the immediate purchase, but I also wanted to gift him the kettle on Valentine's Day. Instead of sucking it up and paying the extra dough (and instead of ordering via Amazon), I took the item up to the counter and asked the sales clerk if she could match the price I found online. The sales clerk obliged without any fuss and without belaboring the process. It couldn't have been breezier.
Consider it bargaining in the 21st century! I know I'm never going to forget this policy again, especially when I plan on buying big-ticket kitchen items like a Vitamix blender, stainless steel chef's knives, cookware sets, or even weird random KitchenAid attachments like the spiralizer (as pictured).
This Potty-Mouthed Grandma Baking a Gluten-Free Cake Will Make You Giggle For Days
Peggy Glenn, everyone's favorite cursing grandma, is making us double over laughing with her latest cooking adventure. Known on YouTube as Granny PottyMouth, Peggy recently shared a video in which she bakes a birthday cake for her grandson. Except it's not your average, run-of-the-mill birthday cake, as she starts the video by declaring, "Today I'm going to attempt a f*cking miracle: a damn cake with no eggs, no flour, and no butter."
That's right - Peggy was on a mission to make a vegan and gluten-free cake to suit her grandson's "trendy diet." While concocting the cake, the comedic grandma shared some of the ingredients, such as vanilla, xanthan gum, and "just a little bit of brown sugar - not too much." But the key ingredient in the cake batter? "Organic pumpkin!" the comedic granny exclaims. "Can you f*cking believe? Pumpkin and chocolate instead of eggs and butter."
While mixing the batter, she compares it to "runny dog sh*t," although she admits that it sure doesn't taste like it once the cake comes out of the oven. Granny PottyMouth wraps up the entertaining cake tutorial by patting herself on the back for the surprisingly tasty dessert. "Nothing says love like your granny baking you a fine-ass birthday cake," she says. "Gluten-free, my ass. That's f*cking delicious."
Watch her video above, and prepare to get your daily (or weekly) dose of giggles.
Drake Wishes Rihanna a Happy Birthday With a Special Performance in Dublin
Drake may currently be on his Boy Meets World tour, but he didn't forget about Rihanna's birthday. On Monday, the "Hotline Bling" singer paused his set to give his ex a special shoutout during his Dublin concert. "It's somebody's birthday today. Somebody I have a lot of love for and a lot of respect for," he told the audience. "Instead of singing 'Happy Birthday,' we're going to set it off just like this. Run it!" Drake then launched into a performance of their collaborations, including "Work" and "Take Care."

The Shoes on the LFW Runways Are Total Game-Changers
Being the students in fashion that we are, we watched intently and attentively as London Fashion Week kicked off. And with shoes at front and center, a kickoff it truly was. Things we learned? To start, designers are still channeling the '90s with exaggerated and highly defined silhouettes. Deeply saturated colors with hints of neon were also evident on the catwalks. And perhaps at the top of our fashion curriculum were the lessons in the building blocks of a wardrobe. By that we mean color-blocking and block heels, which are far from disappearing. Read on and study up right here.
The Vampire Diaries: Who Is Most Likely to Die in the Finale?
There are a few episodes left of The Vampire Diaries, and we can already tell that the final goodbye is going to be a tough one. Not only are a handful of old cast members returning, but we recently learned that the finale will also feature a major character death. While we definitely know that Elena Gilbert will be one of the attendees at the funeral, the fate of the rest of the characters is still up in the air. Since we love theorizing about the show, we're breaking down the five most likely suspects for that HUGE plot twist. Read at your own risk.
5. Matt
Could Matt's family have even more dark secrets? It's possible that Maxwell hell bell had some lingering magic left in it that could lead to his death. Although, if we're being completely honest here, Matt has managed to stay alive, and human for that matter, for eight seasons, so we don't really think Julie Plec would decide to kill him off now.
4. Caroline
Caroline's death would certainly be the most unexpected. Maybe she decides to take the cure to be human with Stefan and something goes wrong? Although, out of all the characters, Caroline has always been the most content with her vampirism. We can't see her compromising that for a guy, even if it is Stefan Salvatore.
3. Bonnie
Unless Kai breaks his spell, Elena's life is still linked to Bonnie's. And seeing that Nina Dobrev is officially returning for the finale, we can't help but wonder if that means BonBon will meet an untimely demise. Although, the way Plec has talked about how emotional the finale will be, her death seems a bit too on-the-nose.
2. Damon
This death would definitely be a blow to the heart. Not only is the final scene set at the Salvatore house, but Entertainment Weekly did say that Elena would be the last person to say goodbye at the funeral. Perhaps she was having one final moment with her true love? While we can only imagine the water works this scene would cause Delena fans, Plec did confirm that Elena and Damon will come face to face in the finale.
1. Stefan
Ever since Stefan took the cure and become mortal, he has been fixated on making up for his past sins. Could the final key to redemption and making up for turning Damon into a vampire be reuniting him with his true love? Perhaps, instead of Bonnie dying, Stefan finds a way to link his life with Elena's instead. Not only did Paul Wesley admit to tearing up over his final script, but he also revealed that his final scene is with Dobrev. What if the finale teaser is actually Stefan saying his last goodbye?

How to Talk to Your Kids About Sex at Every Age
Hearing the phrase "sex talk" probably reminds you of the embarrassing conversation you had with your own parents about the birds and the bees when you were a teenager, but the truth of the matter is that we should be discussing sex with our kids from a much younger age. You likely just had a thought flash through your head about your child's innocence and how ridiculous it would be to try to explain reproduction to a toddler, but sex is multifaceted and the actual act of sex isn't the only topic to cover when it comes to this sensitive subject (think back to when your 3-year-old took his penis out in the grocery store that one time, which could have been avoided - maybe - if you had discussed appropriate times to whip it out beforehand).
We know, we know, this stuff is AWKWARD, but read through for a few easy tips to help you figure out how to talk to your child about sex at every age.

Prince Harry Takes a Break From His Royal Duties to Delight a Young Fan
Prince Harry further solidified his real-life Prince Charming status when he visited the Heads Together running team in England on Tuesday. The young royal, who has been gearing up for the 2017 London Marathon, was all smiles as he joined their morning training session and met with local sports stars, including Olympian Steve Cram, who is helping promote his family's mental health campaign. In addition to cheering on the team, Harry greeted onlookers and even stopped to tickle an adorable little boy who stood nearby, adding to his ongoing list of ridiculously cute moments with kids. All we know is Meghan Markle is one lucky lady.
How That New Beauty and the Beast Clip May Have Referenced Harry Potter
Disney has just released a new clip from Beauty and the Beast, and there's something fun in it you might have missed. It's a snippet of the classic song "Belle," in which our heroine skips and sings through the streets of her "provincial town" and introduces us to all its characters along the way. So, what's the fun part, other than the fact that we get to see one of the most beloved Disney fairy tales come to life? Well, it would probably have to be the slight Harry Potter reference that seems to have been slipped in!
If you're feeling a little incredulous, you're not alone. I mean, why would Disney feel compelled to nod at Harry Potter in a story that takes place universes away from the Wizarding World? Well, let's look at the evidence. At one point in the one-minute clip, Belle runs into Monsieur Jean, who seems to be a bit confused. "Have you lost something again?" she asks. His response is what made all of our Harry Potter alarm bells start to ring.
Wait a second - he can't remember what he's forgotten?! The fun little conundrum appears to hearken all the way back to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. In one scene, Neville Longbottom receives a Remembrall. Hermione notes what it is and says, when the smoke inside turns red, it means you have forgotten something. This, in turn, leads to a hilariously memorable quote from Neville.

Are you seeing the similarity? It may seem like a stretch, but you have to acknowledge that it's a pretty great coincidence. Especially since Emma Watson, who obviously plays both Hermione and Belle, is in both cases the character to enact the scene. Beauty and the Beast hits theaters March 19, so you'll have to keep your eyes and ears alert for even more sneaky Harry Potter nods once the film arrives.
Why There's So Much to Love About the Instant Pot
Everyone has been talking about the Instant Pot ($130 at Walmart), from busy moms to food bloggers to The New York Times. It's currently a top-selling kitchen item on Amazon. Despite its widespread popularity, is the multifunctional cooking device worth it? For a while, I scorned the Instant Pot like a unitasker. I already owned a rice cooker, pressure cooker, and slow cooker, after all. So why would I spend the cash for another appliance? Despite my initial judgments, I still felt pulled to try the cooker out and determine if it's a gimmicky fad or not. Let's just say, the results really surprised me and greatly exceeded my expectations. If you're wondering if an Instant Pot is for you (or IP, as seasoned users call it), here's a list of awesome things to know about the Instant Pot.
- Cook all the things in record time. The Instant Pot is essentially a pressure cooker that also has sauté and slow-cooker functions. Pressure cookers reduce cook time significantly. We're talking steel-cut oats in 10 minutes and chicken breasts in eight minutes. Most, if not all, dishes can be prepared in 20 minutes or less.
- The sauté function is truly awesome. You can adjust the heat, but I found it caramelizes veggies and meat faster and more uniformly than even stovetop cooking. As a bonus, nothing caked onto the bottom of my IP.
- You can switch between functions. Sear meat in the sauté function, then pressure cook or slow-cook it! Pressure cook something, then keep it warm. Changing up the functions allows you to create complex dishes in one pot.
- It's easy to use. Though there are lots of buttons on an Instant Pot and seemingly random beeps, the user manual and recipe guide (that come with the cooker) break each one down quickly so you can dive right into cooking with your device. Just be sure to read them! You shouldn't go rogue with this device.
- It does it all. While there are obvious things like making broth, soups, shredded chicken, and chili, the cooker does some extraordinary things. Make a big batch of eggs (frittata style). Steam up cake and cheesecake. Use it as a rice cooker. Defrost and cook frozen-solid meat in minutes. Forgo soaking dried beans and cook them in about 20 minutes. Make mac and cheese and other pasta dishes in only one pot. The list goes on . . .
- Cleaning is a breeze. I laughed as I lifted the IP pot and rinsed it in record time. The lightweight pot seems to be nonstick (in my experience), so all it needs is a fast, sudsy scrub-down, no exertion required.
- There's endless learning. Instant Pot's website and Pinterest's results for Instant Pot are two awesome sources of recipe inspiration and tips. There's also Facebook's Instant Pot Community that's very active (over 300,000 users), where you can post or read troubleshooting questions and recipes.
All right, I love my Instant Pot. It's the ideal cooking appliance for busy people who are on a budget and want to cook homemade meals but lack one crucial thing: time! While I'm sure there are downsides to the Instant Pot, I haven't discovered them yet.
Why You Should Definitely Be Drinking More Hot Chocolate
Who would have guessed that the key to a healthy heart really is chocolate after all? New research continues to add up to making chocolate a part of a heart-smart diet. The latest? A cup of hot chocolate could be your best friend when it comes to your ticker. Not convinced? Research is ranking it even higher than wine or even tea in this category. Still not convinced? Read on and get ready to make yourself some healing hot chocolate!
Researchers at Cornell University found that antioxidant concentration in hot cocoa is nearly twice as good as red wine, almost three times better than green tea, and nearly five times stronger than even black tea! The study also found that the fact that this chocolaty indulgence is served up hot is also a good thing because even more antioxidants are released in the heating process. What does all this mean for you? More antioxidants in your diet means a positive impact on your heart. More good news: just one cup of hot cocoa is packed with 611 milligrams of gallic acid, which is a phenolic compound that is more commonly used for treating diabetes, kidney disease, and internal hemorrhages.
Want more proof? Two more studies (published by Age and the British Journal of Nutrition) found that people who ate cocoa benefited greatly from the flavanols they were getting from the tasty bean and its many awesome snacks. These flavanols make it easier for the heart to function overall and can even help reverse the effects of aging on your ticker, making your arteries a lot healthier as a result. The same studies also indicate that regular intake of the flavanols in cocoa reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular disease!
But before you think you can just scarf down as much chocolate as possible, remember to be mindful. A chocolate bar may have some of the same benefits, but they're generally thought to be negated by all the saturated fat in each serving. Your best bet really is to stick with a hot mug of hot dark cocoa. But you can't just go to your nearest Starbucks and expect to get these heart-smart rewards! What's the key? You need to make your next mug of hot chocolate with 100-percent unsweetened and nonalkalized cocoa powder and fat-free milk. Avoid all prepackaged powders you find in the grocery store and anything you'd get from your morning coffee hangout.

Emma Watson's Belle Dress Is Going to Be Different, but in a Good Way
We all patiently waited for it: the reveal of Emma Watson's Belle dress in Beauty and the Beast. Judging from the photos, the yellow princess ball gown is better than we imagined. Made with silk, the dress has a satin finish that glows for the camera while the layers of organza give the dress a light, bouncy lift. Though parts of the costume has a cage, one specific constricting piece was left out of the new design.
Beauty and the Beast's costume designer Jacqueline Durran revealed in an interview that Belle's dress in the live-action film would not have a corset, a change Emma pushed for herself.
"For Emma, it was important that the dress was light and that it had a lot of movement," Durran said. "In Emma's reinterpretation, Belle is an active princess. She did not want a dress that was corseted or that would impede her in any way."
Given that the actress is a proud feminist and supporter of HeForShe, it's not surprising she spoke up and did away with a tight-fitting bodice in the name of comfort. Scroll through for a glimpse of Belle's updated gown and other outfits, then check out Emma's green red carpet choices on the press tour.

7 Recipes Inspired by the Timeless Waldorf Salad
The Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City will shutter as it is renovated into private condos in the next three years. This New York City landmark is famous for its Waldorf salad, invented in 1893 by the maître d'hôtel Oscar Tschirky, and served at the restaurant to this day. The original version contained just four ingredients: apple, celery, mayonnaise, and lettuce. Later versions included chopped walnuts. Home cooks and restaurants around the country sought to emulate this world-reknowned salad, adding grapes, marshmallows, blue cheese, even chicken to the mix. Though we mourn the loss of this iconic space, we can always whip up a Waldorf salad (or a dish inspired by it) and remember the history of this great recipe.

You Don't Get to Taste the Food - and Other Shocking Revelations About Being in the Audience of The Chew
I've always wanted to be part of the live studio audience of ABC's The Chew and I scored a ticket to attend a taping in New York City. I've filmed at Food Network's test kitchen and filmed my fair share of POPSUGAR Live! recipes, yet I couldn't help but feel mesmerized entering such a historic studio at ABC in New York City where so many iconic people have stepped foot, including Julia Child. As a huge fan of Mario Batali, Carla Hall, and Michael Symon, I couldn't believe I'd get to see them all up close and watch them cook in front of hundreds of people and so many cameras. The experience was truly memorable, especially since I was able to see the set itself and enter the test kitchen. However, there are a few key things I learned this time around which I'll share with you so you can make the most of your visit. I know I plan on returning again!

Chrissy Teigen Wins Twitter For the 100th Time Thanks to the John Legend Arthur Meme
Image Source: Getty / Dimitrios Kambouris
In 2016, John Legend might have been most well-known for his multiple Grammy Awards and his massive collection of hit songs, but because it's 2017 and apparently anything goes, he can now add "bears a startling similarity to Arthur Read" to his résumé. "Arthur Read as in the Arthur the aardvark cartoon?" you might be saying to yourself. "There's no way they could mean that Arthur." Yes, guys, we're talking about that Arthur. On Sunday, Twitter user Emily Sowah shared a side-by-side photo of John and Arthur calling out how much they weirdly look alike, instantly spawning hundreds of dumbfounded (and hilarious) reactions.

Once people were done "crying" over the accuracy of the comparison, a few wondered what John's other half (and reigning Twitter Queen) Chrissy Teigen would think of it all. One Twitter user even warned, "Y'all better stop before Chrissy come for us." In classic Chrissy fashion, she one-upped everyone with a perfect Arthur meme of her own:

Moral of the story? We are not worthy of Chrissy Teigen.
