You're Going to Love This Illustrator's Minimalist Makeover of Harry Potter
It's not easy reimagining our favorite characters from Harry Potter or Star Wars in totally different looks. It's what makes fan art so incredible; dedicated artists and illustrators come up with those images for us. One designer has done it again by creating minimalist illustrations of Harry Potter, Rey, Daenerys Targaryen, and more.
The project, called "Minimal Pop Culture," was created by Amanda Penley, a designer and illustrator living in LA. It's not the first time she's dabbled in coming up with beautiful illustrations of our favorite scenes in books. This time, however, she wanted to focus on "the simplicity of what makes a character," she said to POPSUGAR. To do this, she only used "simple shape[s] and lines" to create the characters you'll see ahead. To her, they barely take any time to put together as she just changes different hair colors and other features of the head and body.
In doing this project, Penley hopes people "are inspired by seeing the characters they know and love." Once you see some of our favorites ahead, you'll definitely love them.

In addition to their kids, they also have five grandchildren. While they have been known to post about their sweet family life on social media, they have also brought out the Russell/Hudson clan on the red carpet from time to time. After Seeing the Photos, You'll Understand Why Tiny Trump Is the Internet's New Favorite Meme
The internet isn't one to let any meme pass it by. So, it makes sense that after President Donald Trump's ridiculous press conference on Feb. 16, the internet came up with the perfect meme: Tiny Trump.
The meme sounds simple but is not the easiest to create: it involves photoshopping a photo of Trump into a tinier version. The result? An entire subreddit devoted to photoshopped photos of Tiny Trump signing executive orders, meeting with world leaders, and more. See some of the best ones we could find ahead, and then remember that the Trump resistance is working.

How Supreme Leader Snoke Could Be the "Last Jedi" in Star Wars
Now that Star Wars: The Last Jedi is officially in a galaxy not so far away, we're revving up our engines and trying to figure out what will happen next. In January, the official title reveal for the film sent us into overdrive. Upon initial inspection, eagle-eyed fans have noted that the titles form a sentence. Then, of course, there's the larger and simpler looming question: who, exactly, is this last Jedi? Even though we've mostly been looking at the good guys as candidates, one internet theorist has turned to the dark side. Enter Reddit user AnakinKardashian (lol). According to the theory, Supreme Leader Snoke is the last Jedi.
The Strange and Recent Focus on Jedi History
Recent installments of the franchise have been drawing our attention to Jedi history. In Rogue One, we see the planet Jedha, which is where the nature of the Force was first explored and where the Jedi religion was essentially started. In The Force Awakens (this includes the movie and its novelization), we learn that Luke is in search of the original Jedi temple.
OK, So, What Does That Have to Do With Snoke?
It's no secret that Snoke is very, very ancient. In The Force Awakens, he says he witnessed the rise and fall of the Galactic Empire. This means he's been around since the Anakin Skywalker trilogy (Episode I - Episode 3), at the very least. But hey, there's nothing confirming or denying that he's older. It's aso worth noting that Kylo Ren's lightsaber is of a very ancient design. And guess where it came from? Snoke himself. If Snoke's aware of ancient lightsaber designs, his experience could stretch farther back than we think. Plus, his knowledge of lightsabers also would tie him, even if tangentially, to the ancient Jedi Order.
How This Could Tie Into The Last Jedi
AnakinKardashian posits that we could be venturing into Jedi history because the ancient order of the Jedi is much, much different from the Jedi as we know them in the present. "What if what we know as Jedi are not really Jedi after all?" the post asks. "What if Snoke is the last Jedi, in its original form?" If Snoke really is that last living member of the original Jedi order, it connects this new obsession with Jedi history, Snoke's age, Kylo Ren's ancient lightsaber design, and Luke's quest for the first Jedi temple. What's more, if the theory that Snoke appears in Rogue One holds up, it strengthens the argument even more. In the Star Wars universe, anything is possible, right?
48 Reasons You Still Love Rachel Bilson
Rachel Bilson welcomed a daughter, Briar Rose, with longtime love Hayden Christensen in 2014 and shares all sorts of sweet personal photos on Instagram, giving us even more reasons to continue our decade-long girl crush. Not only did she make her pregnancy look way too easy - that monthlong vacation in Barbados may have had something to do with it - but Rachel has also managed to stay just as sweet, stylish, and adorable as she was when you first fell in love with her on The O.C.
Since developing our collective Rachel Bilson crush back in the early 2000s, we've watched the actress transform from the tough, outspoken, and slightly snobby Summer Roberts to the fast-talking Zoe Hart on Hart of Dixie, and we've loved every minute in between. Here - in no particular order - are 48 reasons why you love Rachel Bilson so much.
Colors of the Year: Extreme Metallics, Glitters, and Glows
Rose gold has infiltrated home decor, jewelry, and even your hair. Its next target? Your face.
Metallics of all kinds will end up on your lips, eyes, brows, and cheekbones in 2017. New products like the Metalmorphosis 005 Kits created by leading makeup artist Pat McGrath will provide a liquid metal finish. And if that's not enough shine, you can expect glitter everywhere and glossy skin, brought to life with pearly highlighters.
You can expect glitter everywhere and glossy skin, brought to life with pearly highlighters.
Like glitter, metallic makeup provides reflection and texture. Michelle Clark, a senior makeup artist for MAC Cosmetics, says the recent "strobing" phenomenon - applying highlighter where light would naturally hit your face - signaled a growing demand for glowing skin: "Metallic makeup is a different way to add a bold statement to the face that involves light reflection and saturation."
Clark is a fan of pure metal on the lid: "It's quite futuristic and cool." If you want to go more subtle, she suggests adding a metallic dimension to a smoky eye by applying rose gold eye shadow on the inner eye (she loves MAC Cosmetics Pigment in Copper Sparkle). You can also experiment with copper or rust-toned lips. Anastasia Beverly Hills also makes a rose gold highlighter that will make your skin glow.

Vice of the Year: Weed
Potheads are getting a makeover. The image of the sloppy dude who won't budge from his couch will be replaced by the "power pot woman." She does Ganja Yoga, dabbles in elevated edibles like weed-infused dark chocolate brittle with smoked almonds and crunchy toffee bits, has a high-end smoking accessory like this Ombre Pipe, and experiments with cannibis-infused beauty products.
The image of the sloppy dude who won't budge from his couch will be replaced by the "power pot woman."
She might even own her own dispensary or other smoking-related business. With recreational weed legal in eight states and Washington DC and medical marijuana legal in 28 states, female entrepreneurs are seizing the moment. Monica Khemsurov is one of them. She's the cofounder of Tetra, which sells well-designed smoking accessories. (Note: Tetra cannot promote its accessories for marijuana use due to federal law, but consumers can use their imaginations.)
Tetra launched in 2015 to positive response. Khemsurov says her customers were happy to find cool accessories that didn't have the outdated "smoker" connotations. "There are a lot of people out there who expect a certain level of quality and style from everything else in their lives, like fashion and home objects. It really was missing from smoking. We planted a stake." Since then, Khemsurov says, demand has grown; in addition to curating products from other designers, Tetra has now started producing its own line of products. The elegant Balance Pipe was its first. "Today our offering is less high-end art and more accessible. But as it's more accessible, the design level is still very high. "
Even if they aren't launching businesses, women can take advantage of the innovative products the booming industry has to offer. Or at least choose a relaxing hit of weed instead of a glass of wine as they wind down after a long day.

Realness of the Year: Periods
This is the year of menstrual realness. Half of humanity has had to deal with having periods since the beginning of time, and women are fed up with pretending it's something to be embarrassed about. Thankfully, we're getting an assist from the revolutionary upstarts who are disrupting the period space.
Feminine hygiene should become part of the discussion around wellness, just like working out and eating right.
Thinx underwear offers a stylish alternative to pads, tampons, or cups with its high-tech, ultra-absorbent underwear. The Period Store's PMS care boxes want to bring a little joy to that time of the month. And newcomer feminine-care brand Lola will ship you 100 percent organic cotton tampons, pads, and panty liners right on schedule. The message is clear: periods don't have to suck.
It's been about 70 years since the last big breakthrough in "feminine products": the disposable tampon. Lola guessed correctly that women would want more transparent and safe options from modern brands. "Contrary to popular belief, the FDA doesn't require feminine-care brands to fully disclose the ingredients in their tampons, so they don't," said the brand's cofounder Alex Friedman. "Women realized they needed and deserved something better from the industry, and it showed from the excitement around Lola."
In addition to giving women safer and more convenient options, modern brands like Thinx and Lola want to decrease the longstanding taboo around periods. Thinx, for instance, basically wallpapered NYC subways and subway stations with ads featuring a diversity of women with hilariously true captions, like "period (and stuck in a v long meeting with a v soaked tampon)-proof underwear." Friedman believes that "the more we talk about it, the less of a hush-hush topic it becomes, and the more we can do to enact change." She thinks feminine hygiene should become part of the discussion around wellness, just like working out and eating right. We're all for making periods part of that mainstream conversation this year.

Cocktail of the Year: Gin Anything
Be prepared to drink a lot of gin this year. Specialty bars and amateur at-home mixologists alike are experimenting with twists on traditional gin drinks. Larry Piaskowy, lead bartender at San Francisco's Aatxe, oversees a menu that includes 86 types of gin - with more added each month. He believes gin's versatility gives it a leg up on some other spirits.
"Gin is unique in the fact that almost any botanical or fruit can be added to enhance the flavor."
"Gin is unique in the fact that almost any botanical or fruit can be added to enhance the flavor," he explained. On top of juniper, gin makers can add "new school" botanicals like rosemary, Douglas fir, sage, and rose. In addition to these flavors that infuse each bottle, bartenders get creative with how they mix gin into cocktails. The menu at Bathtub Gin in New York City includes twists on the classics, like gin and tonics spiced with cinnamon or grapefruit. And Spanish restaurants in Manhattan, like Cata, have expansive G&T lists featuring ingredients like Thai chili pepper or cucumber and rose.
Local distillers will also increase the flavors available. "Gin can be made from just about any distillate, and most of it does not require any aging," Piaskowy noted. "This means that it can be brought to market much quicker than other spirits like whiskey that require extensive aging." So we can expect producers to react quickly to growing demand.

Instagram Food of the Year: Magic
Feeling like you need a reprieve from all the stressful political news on social media? Fantastical food videos on Instagram will do just that in 2017. Cakes that bust open with cool stuff inside are the new cute animal videos.
More emphasis will be placed on how a dish looks versus how it tastes.
Magic. That's the secret ingredient for viral food videos this year. Building off the rainbow-everything trend of 2016, you'll see metallic sprinkles and edible glitter. As social media continues to influence food culture, more emphasis will be placed on how a dish looks versus how it tastes - leading to fantastical creations.
Comfort-food mashups from trendy bakeries have been a bucket-list item for a while, starting with Dominique Ansel's Cronut. But now your Instagram feeds will feature friends making pilgrimages to places like New York's Butter & Scotch bakery, where you can get your hands on its decadent sprinkle birthday cake - and a cocktail.
The home and food world is becoming a major source of entertainment. We watch shows like HGTV's Fixer Upper for fun, not because we're trying to get actual tips for our own remodel. And we watch food videos on Facebook to be amazed, not for the step-by-step tutorial. Even if you'll never make a "unicorn of the sea" cake, you can't stop watching.

Parenting Hack of the Year: High-Tech Outsourcing
It's a whole new world for babies born in 2017 - and for their parents. The tech industry has matured to a point where it can make a real impact on parenting.
For proof, look no further than the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, held in January, where family-centric gadgets dominated. Mattel's Aristotle smart baby monitor promises to comfort and teach your child. Memoo and Woobo will help streamline your kid's morning and bedtime routines. Octopus by Joy is a watch that teaches kids how to do tasks like brushing their teeth or packing bags independently. And from their smartphones, parents can access apps that help make parenthood easier. Take Winnie, which helps parents share and find crucial information about nearby kid-friendly places, areas to nurse, or easy-to-access changing tables.
We imagine many parents will spring for something - anything - that helps them get more sleep.
New parents will also welcome Snoo, a self-rocking bassinet created by Dr. Harvey Karp, author of the wildly popular The Happiest Baby series of parenting guides. The bassinet has a mattress that produces white noise, and it rocks up to one-half inch each direction to lull a baby to sleep. Hidden microphones detect a waking baby and signal the cradle to respond with more sound and motion, just like parents would.
With Snoo coming in at $1,160, genius products like these can be out of reach for many. But the company does offer financing plans, and we imagine many parents will spring for something - anything - that helps them get more sleep.

Futuristic Trend of the Year: Voice-Enabled Tech
While self-driving cars and virtual reality get a ton of buzz and investment, it will take time before that futuristic technology is integrated into our everyday lives. Voice-enabled tech is much closer, and 2017 might be the year we finally have meaningful conversations with our phones and other devices.
2017 might be the year we finally have meaningful conversations with our phones and other devices.
In late 2016, Microsoft conducted a test that found a significant drop in word errors made by voice-recognition systems. Over the course of the experiment, the error rate dropped to 6.3 percent - similar to recognition errors made by humans. In addition, industry experts anticipate sales of products like Google Home or Amazon Echo will more than double in 2017. This year, we'll start using voice recognition in new ways, with it popping up on our TVs, appliances, and kids' devices.
Victor Melfi is chief strategy officer at VoiceBox, a company that builds voice applications for cars, homes, and mobile markets and works with major brands. "Clearly, consumers have gotten used to using a voice Bluetooth speaker to ask for music and general information," Melfi explained. He believes people are ready for new integrations and says voice commands will start mimicking the way we think. For example, the technology he's working on lets you say things like, "Hey, what's that Italian restaurant somewhere within a few blocks of the Space Needle?" Melfi notes the distinction: "That's how we think about the world around us, versus 'navigate from current location to 1313 Mockingbird Lane.'"

Accent of the Year: 3D Flowers
Are brooches back? Yes, but with an update. We'll be pinning our personality to ourselves with 3D flowers. These playful, feminine accessories add dimension and can change a look from Winter to Spring. High-end brands are creating options like this floral brooch from Gucci made with handmade Italian silk. And brands like Delpozo are sewing them right onto their designs.
We saw hints of this modification trend in 2016, with the rise of patches by Anya Hindmarch and Mira Mikati. Now, 3D flowers will offer a subtle and more mature way to get in on the personalization theme that started with these emoji-inspired designs. We've already seen them turn up on Dior sneakers, Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses, and Fendi bag straps.

Athleisure Evolution of the Year: Workleisure
Today it's totally acceptable to wear leggings and sneakers on the weekend without having any intention of actually working out. What's been defined as athleisure is now popular from coast to coast. Even New Yorkers who once wouldn't dare be caught dead in leggings and sneakers on a weekend brunch day have embraced this trend. In 2017, the emphasis on comfy and stylish clothing will spread to professional settings - which is good news for all women, even those who bucked the leggings-as-pants trend for so long.
The emphasis on comfy and stylish clothing will spread to professional settings.
Workleisure, office-appropriate outfits with a sportif twist, is easier to pull off. You can skip the yoga pants and instead opt for a fluid track pant paired with more sophisticated pieces like mules, a blouse, and a classic leather jacket.
Brands are jumping on this expansion of leisurewear. Tory Sport by Tory Burch is a leader in the space. With the line, Burch has translated the athleisure look to her ready-to-wear core customers. Pieces include straight-up athleticwear, like sports bras and leggings, as well as tennis-inspired colorblock sweaters you could wear anywhere. We'll see more pieces with casual fits made with higher-end materials. Details like leather will elevate looks for the office - take Everlane's Street Shoe loafers, perfect for a weekend walk or work.

Fashion Trend of the Year: '80s Nostalgia
Marc Jacobs's Resort 2017 show was full-on '80s.
We should have seen this decade revival coming. For one, America's new president has both a look and policy agenda that seem more at home in the 1980s. But despite how you feel about Donald Trump, anyone can get on board with the fashion industry's take on the decade.
Popular looks will borrow the decade's emphasis on the waist and shoulders.
For her Spring 2017 collection, Isabel Marant presented a particularly wearable '80s vibe, putting a Parisian spin on ruffles, florals, and pinstripes. Other renditions of extreme '80s styles popped up at the Marc Jacobs Resort 2017 show, where models rocked crimped hair, shiny metallics, and oversize MTV sweatshirts.
Fashion loves to jump back and forth between decades. The wide-leg flares and bell sleeves of the '70s had a moment this decade thanks to labels like Gucci, Prada, Valentino, and Saint Laurent. And most recently, fashion girls fell back in love with '90s styles like overalls and chokers. This year is more about the 1980s, though, and popular looks will borrow the decade's emphasis on the waist and shoulders. Plan to be reintroduced to styles like puffy sleeves, white shoes, stirrup tights, neon colors, and bold logo merchandise.

Shopping Trend of the Year: Direct to Consumer
Models show off wide-leg pants from Everlane, a rising D2C brand.

We're used to purchasing everyday commodities on catch-all sites like Amazon (and, admittedly, we don't plan to stop anytime soon). But direct-to-consumer online shopping is the retail trend poised to dominate in 2017 for two reasons: more convenience and better value. Shoppers are identifying with specialty brands that sell both a specific product and aesthetic.
Emerging direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands - like Boll & Branch for sheets, Glossier for beauty, Warby Parker for glasses, and Everlane for fashion - have a high-end feel without a high-end price. Formerly cumbersome and opaque experiences like shopping for a mattress are made easier thanks to brands like Casper and Leesa, and without a middleman taking a cut, more people have access to quality products at an affordable price. "We live in a world of the informed consumer, whose expectations around quality, ethicality, and service have never been higher," explained Dave Gilboa, cofounder and co-CEO of Warby Parker. "Direct-to-consumer brands are better able to deliver on these expectations and ultimately provide a more transparent shopping experience."
After hitting a tipping point of popularity, D2C brands often open brick-and-mortar showrooms. But rather than act as a destination to drive substantial sales, the spaces are designed to familiarize consumers with the brand and provide an experience. In Everlane's NYC showroom, for example, a stylist assists customers. And Warby Parker has used a mobile store to test new retail markets and concepts: "We once transformed a vintage school bus into a mobile showroom that we called the Class Trip," Gilboa said. "It traveled the country for over 12 months, stopping in more than 16 cities along the way." D2C brands like Warby Parker have more flexibility. They were able to bring their brand to more places without having to invest in storefronts throughout the country.
Expect to see more "see now, buy now" fashion in 2017, specifically applied to limited-edition items or capsule collections.
The rise of the "see now, buy now" model of designer fashion shows will also evolve the D2C trend in 2017. Brands like Burberry, Tom Ford, and Misha Nonoo are cutting the lag time between when a collection debuts on the runway and when it's available to consumers. Tommy Hilfiger joined the movement this season with the Tommy x Gigi Hadid Spring '17 collection; runway items from the collaboration were immediately shoppable, and many quickly sold out.
In the traditional model, customers had to wait four months to purchase something they saw on the runway. Fashion shows were intended for buyers from department stores, super spenders, and editors, who would act as gatekeepers for the public and help brands determine how much to produce from a collection. With the rise of social media and high-profile influencers sitting front row at shows, more and more women outside the industry got access to Fashion Week. Brands that are changing with the times now give shoppers a chance to purchase looks immediately following a show, which fills the growing on-demand expectations of consumers and once again cuts out middlemen. While some industry experts question how immediate gratification will impact creativity and innovation, we can expect to see more "see now, buy now" fashion in 2017, specifically applied to limited-edition items or capsule collections, which provide a condensed and essential edit of a designer's line.

Are Steel-Cut Oats That Much Healthier Than Rolled Oats?
Rolled oats sound healthier for you than quick oats because they're less processed, right? So if steel-cut oats are even less processed than rolled oats, they're the healthiest of them all, right? If you're not even sure what the different types of oats are, the explanation below should clear things up.
To shed some light about which oats are better for you, check out the chart comparison below.
| Steel-cut oats | Old-fashioned (rolled) oats | Quick oats | |
| Description | Also called Irish or Scotch oats, these are cut, not rolled. They look like chopped-up rice, take the longest to cook, and have a slightly chewy consistency. | Sometimes called rolled oats, these look like flat little ovals. When processing these oats, the kernels are steamed first, and then rolled to flatten them. They take longer to cook than quick oats but are quicker than steel-cut oats. | Also called instant oats, these oats are precooked, dried, and then rolled. They cook in a few minutes when added to hot water and have a mushy texture. |
| Typical Serving Size | 1/4 cup dry | 1/2 cup dry | 1/2 cup dry |
| Calories | 170 | 190 | 150 |
| Total Fat | 3 g | 3.5 g | 3 g |
| Saturated Fat | 0.5 g | 0.5 g | 0.5 g |
| Cholesterol | 0 mg | 0 mg | 0 mg |
| Sodium | 0 mg | 0 mg | 0 mg |
| Carbs | 29 g | 32 g | 27 g |
| Fiber | 5 g | 5 g | 4 g |
| Sugars | 0 g | 1 g | 1 g |
| Protein | 7 g | 7 g | 5 g |
| Calcium | 2% | 2% | 0% |
| Iron | 10% | 15% | 10% |
Surprised? It looks like they're pretty similar, but one thing that sets them apart is how they compare on the glycemic index. The less-processed steel-cut oats have a much lower glycemic load than higher-processed quick oats. Low-GI foods slow down the rate that glucose (sugar) gets introduced into your body, and in contrast, high-GI foods cause a spike in your blood sugar as well as insulin, causing you to crave more sugary foods when your glucose levels drop. The best option then are the steel-cut oats, with rolled oats a great second choice. They'll keep you feeling fuller longer, which will keep your energy levels up and help you lose weight.
If you're obsessed with this grain, here are some fun tips and recipes to help you enjoy it even more.
- If you love steel-cut oatmeal, try freezing single-size servings.

17 Lucky Guys Who Have Fallen For Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore has been in the spotlight for over four decades, but there are probably still some things you may not know about her, including her dating history. While Drew is back on the market after ending her marriage to Will Kopelman in April, the actress and mom of two has been vocal about her fondness for falling in love; over the years, Drew has dated fellow Hollywood stars like Justin Long, Luke Wilson, and director Spike Jonze, as well as musicians Fabrizio Moretti and Eric Erlandson - and she's even guilty of "ghosting" on Christian Bale after one date back in the '80s!
This Haunting Cover of "The Scientist" Is 1 of the Best Parts of Fifty Shades Darker
Even if you don't care about Fifty Shades Darker, you have to admit that the soundtrack is fantastic. There's Zayn and Taylor Swift's collaboration, Halsey's "Not Afraid Anymore," and this gem of a cover from Corinne Bailey Rae. The singer puts her own spin on Coldplay's 2002 hit, and it's a gorgeous version of a song that, to be honest, we already loved. Check it out!
These Hollywood-Inspired Hair Accessories Are Next-Level Gorgeous
Hair accessories are elevating beyond basic barrettes and clips thanks to a collaboration between celebrity stylist Adir Abergel and Lelet NY. The former is known for doing hair for celebrities like Kristen Stewart, Marion Cotillard, and Jessica Biel (who have already worn pieces from this collection), while the latter, headed by designer Sara Bieler Sasson, is our go-to for dreamy bridal and holiday hair pieces.
The offering includes 15 mixed-metal pieces: headbands, barrettes, cuff, combs, and hairpins. Expect 18 karat gold, rose gold, and antique sterling silver finishes. A standout is the famous Liquid Chain Comb, which went viral on Instagram when Vanessa Kirby wore it to the 2017 SAG Awards.
Two other noteworthy pieces are the Quill Bobbi and Headband, which are hand-molded, ensuring no versions are exactly the same. "I wanted to celebrate women's self-expression with these pieces, the same way I approach working with my clients," Abergel said in a press release. "If I'm doing Kristen Stewart, she's going to be more edgy, with texture and a style that's a bit more deconstructed. Whereas with Rooney Mara, I'm doing more sleek, tight origami shapes and architectural up-dos."
Sasson described the process of physically making these stunners. "We began to test out different metal textures, hand hammering the material until the light moved on the surface like water," she said.
Everything is available now leletny.com, ranging from $98 to $688. Keep reading to discover some of our favorite pieces as well as hairstyle ideas!

How Does Jack Die on This Is Us? 8 Heartbreaking Theories
Warning: potential spoilers ahead.
This Is Us has been filled with sad moments this season, including William's heartbreaking death this week, but the most shocking twist had to be the revelation that Milo Ventimiglia's character Jack is no longer alive in present day. Since the news broke, we have been racking our brains trying to figure out how it all goes down, and during a recent episode, we finally got some closure. As Kate takes part in a drum-therapy class at an adult weight-loss camp, she recounts heartbreaking memories from her past, including her father's funeral. While the clip offers that the kids were teenagers, it still doesn't exactly answer how Jack dies. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the show comes full-circle by having him die on their shared birthday. There are a few theories about his cause of death, and we've gathered the most intriguing here.
1. Alcoholism
Even though Jack seems to have kicked his alcoholism, it may have still taken a toll on his health. It's possible that all that drinking leads to heart problems or increases his risk of developing cancer. We don't even want to think about that.
2. Heart Attack
Kate is so distraught over Toby's heart surgery, and while obviously any person would be, the storyline might have been backwards foreshadowing that her father also suffered from a heart condition.
3. Exhaustion
Now that Rebecca's music career has caused strife with her marriage, we're worried that Jack will die while she is away on tour. Perhaps the stress of balancing his work and personal life will prove to be too much and wear him down. The added exhaustion could lead to a number of health complications, resulting in his untimely death.
4. Plane Crash
Hold onto your seat, because this final theory is a doozy. Some fans seem to think that Jack actually dies during the 9/11 terrorists attacks. Tumblr user just-an-outlaw pointed out that both Kate and Kevin seem to have a fear of flying, and that Kevin threw away his model airplanes after his dad's death - and that's not the only connection. Randall lives in New Jersey and Rebecca seems to live nearby. Perhaps the family moved to city sometime around 2001? While the details certainly make sense, the only problem is that the kids would have been in their early 20s, and the flashback suggests that they are a bit younger when Jack dies.
5. Car Crash
On the note of life-altering accidents, what if Jack dies in a car crash and Kate is with him? Out of the Big Three, it seems like Kate is the most affected by her father's death. Not only does she have his urn in her house, but she got pretty emotional when she remembered his funeral during camp. In the episode "Memphis" we also couldn't help but notice how the camera spent a few extra seconds focused on the tree where some of Jack's ashes were sprinkled. Is it possible that he hit that exact tree during his accident?
6. He Goes Missing
When we spoke with Justin Hartley recently, he revealed that one of the craziest theories he's heard so far is that Jack actually goes into hiding and dies as a missing person. While we would love to believe that Jack is still alive, he immediately dismissed the idea.
7. Miguel Kills Him
OK, OK, this one is out there. Miguel probably isn't a murderer, but what if Miguel accidentally kills him? And that's why Kevin doesn't like him; not because Miguel marries Rebecca. Jon Huertas dispelled this theory in an interview with E!, saying, "What kind of show are you watching? This isn't some murder mystery!" But we're still not convinced that he doesn't have something to do with the death.
8. House Fire
Even though we're slowly starting to starting to like Miguel, we can't wrap our minds around how Rebecca would marry her husband's best friend. Unless, of course, there is a tragic event that brings them together. Reddit user AFriendlyInternetGuy suggested that Jack might actually die a hero by trying to save Miguel in a house fire. It would definitely explain why the latter's family is never mentioned in present day and why the kids hold a bit of resentment.
Alas, it seems like we may not be getting answers right away, as the show's creator, Dan Fogelman, told Entertainment Weekly that the how for Jack's death is going to take much longer to reveal. "By the end of the season, you're going to know a lot of the details of the how and the ramifications of it," he said. "In terms of the detail of how he died, was it illness? Was it something tragic? Was it something else? You're not going to know that for a little bit because we want to show that in the show. So that's going to take a minute." Thankfully, the series has two more seasons to tell Jack and the rest of the Pearson family's story.

With award season raging in Hollywood, we're starting to get a sense of the movies that are poised to win big (we're looking at you, La La Land). This Cookbook Author Will Inspire You and Your Kids to Eat More Plants
I'll admit that since having kids, my eating style has often prioritized convenience over health, and I've been the worst off for that fact. I know I'm not alone in this. Hell, one of my friends actually forgot a doctor had suggested she had a gluten allergy when her daughter was a toddler; she stopped eating gluten when that same little girl turned 7 and suddenly started feeling great. Raising kids so often takes priority over nourishing ourselves in the way we did before we became moms.
But wouldn't it be great if we didn't have to worry about shopping for and preparing loads of gorgeous veggies for ourselves and totally different foods for our picky kids because we were all eating the same wonderful-for-us diet? That's what I love about podcast host and plant-devotee Jessica Murnane, whose brand-new first cookbook One Part Plant (A Guide to Eating Real, One Meal at a Time) will teach you that it can be easy eating green without the judgment that usually comes as a side dish with diets that include words like gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan.
Jessica (who, side note, is also an awesome designer who created my wedding invitations before switching careers) grew up in the Midwest eating meatloaf and bagged potato chips, like so many of us, and continued those eating habits into adulthood. But then, at 33, she was facing a full hysterectomy to treat her Stage 4 endometriosis and was counseled to try to change her diet, which ended up changing her life.
Not only did eating a plant-based diet prevent Jessica from needing that surgery, but it led her to a new career helping others live happier, healthier lifestyles through their diets - including Lena Dunham, who wrote the cookbook's foreword. Pretty awesome, right? In the middle of this big mental/diet/career switch in 2014, Jessica also became a mom, adopting her now 2-and-a-half-year-old son, Sid, with her husband and moving her young family from Chicago to Charleston less than a year later.
Instead of allowing new motherhood to derail her plant-based life, Jessica has incorporated her son into it. "It took me 33 years to like green juice," she says. "Sid liked it on his first sip." I know what you're thinking: no way will my kid suddenly become a tiny plant eater. But keep reading and Jessica might just change your mind, or at least change your dinner menu.
One Part Plant ($28) hits bookstores Feb. 21.
POPSUGAR: What inspired you to write the One Part Plant cookbook?
Jessica Murnane:There were a lot of plant-based cookbooks out there that take an all-or-nothing approach. I wanted to create something that felt approachable for people. Like what if I don't have to be strict Paleo, vegan, gluten-free, whatever? What if I just tried one plant-based meal a day? When I changed my diet, it felt like the hardest thing, but had someone said to me, "It doesn't have to be all or nothing," it would have felt more manageable. Start with one meal, and maybe one leads to two, and two leads to three, and suddenly you're eating like this every day.
PS: Speaking from experience, motherhood doesn't always inspire the best eating habits. Was adding a child into your life a challenge?
JM: It really wasn't. Because I was already eating a plant-based diet, it didn't occur me to feed him any differently. I started feeding Sid vegetables as his first foods. I do think that starting kids off with vegetables first and not fruit is a good idea, because if you start with fruit, you teach them to want sweet stuff all the time. But at the same time, I don't want to tell anyone want to do. And every kid is different.
PS: So Sid is a happy little vegan?
JM: I can't put down a bowl of steamed broccoli, and he'll eat it. He's not that cool. But yeah, he doesn't eat any meat or dairy at all. I definitely will say that all the grandparents were at first concerned about his diet and now are 100 percent on board because Sid is strong, smart, and thriving. I think they see now that his diet is working for him. He's not lacking. And I do make sure that he's getting everything that he needs, not just a bowl of rice. He eats all the good stuff for his body to grow.
PS: Is he ever picky about his eating?
JM: He's picky for healthy things. His favorite foods are hummus and plantains. Sometimes new things can be a challenge or a surprise. I gave him a turmeric-ginger juice thinking there was no way in hell he'd drink it, and he liked it. But then I made some brown rice noodles, and he thought those were disgusting. We watched a Sesame Street episode once where they were trying new foods, so a lot of time, I will say "Remember Big Bird tried a new food?" and then he'll be on board. If I made any mistake in the beginning, it was that if I found something he liked, I would continually feed him that. It was veggie burgers for every meal.
PS: So what's Sid's daily diet look like?
JM: For breakfast, he loves bananas and whatever kind of nut butter he can get, and I also make what we call "green cakes." I blend spinach into almond milk and use that milk in pancake batter. He loves them. For lunch, he likes a hummus sandwich and yes, we do use sprouted bread, but you don't have to. I also make him these little energy balls, which is his version of a cookie. For dinner, he likes a veggie burger and some fruit, and he loves dipping things, so maybe some bean dip.
PS: Any easy prepared foods you recommend plant-y moms have around the house?
JM: We always have a couple tubs of hummus and Trader Joe's plantain chips or Inner Peas for dipping. I also love Justin's Almond Butter sleeves, Hilary's veggie burgers (they're the best), sunflower seeds, raisins, and cashews.
PS: What would be your go-to intro meals for a mom who wants to start eating plant-y?
JM: Start with foods that feel comforting. Try coconut veggie curries (super fast to make), lasagna made with cashew cream, and vegetable chowders. It doesn't have be a boring bowl of steamed broccoli and brown rice. Eat something you enjoy!
PS: Smoothies are always a crowd favorite in my house. Do you have a favorite?
JM: I love two huge handfuls of spinach, a cup of almond milk, a frozen banana, a scoop of almond or peanut butter, and a dash of cinnamon. The key to a great smoothie to blend your liquid and greens together until they're nice and smooth. Then add the rest of your ingredients. Depending on the quality of your blender, it might take minute to get super smooth. Be patient; it's worth it! Also, there is no shame in having a bunch of smoothies ready to go in your freezer for desperate times or crazy mornings. I love Daily Harvest for that.

Disney Created a Room That Can Charge Any Gadget - Without a Single Wire
Disney isn't just tinkering away at creating Star Wars Land and bringing you one-of-a-kind experiences on cruises. The latest invention from Disney Research is a gadget that can charge your phone wirelessly - without a single wire or additional product.
The three-person team composed of Disney researchers Matthew Chabalko, Mohsen Shahmohammadi, and Alanson Sample created a room that can seamlessly charge any device - and deliver power to TVs or other products that normally need to be plugged in. To begin, the team built a room with aluminum panel walls, floor, and ceiling. In the middle of the room, a large copper pipe sits with capacitors (that regulate the electromagnetic frequency) to create an electromagnetic field. With these structures, electricity can continuously run through the loop, creating a "magnetic field" that can "deliver kilowatts of power," otherwise known as quasistatic cavity resonance (QSCR). Essentially, this technology lets you enter the room and, without doing a single thing, your phone will automatically start charging.
With a room like this, you can decorate it however you want but still be able to charge wirelessly. You can learn more about QSCR in the video below, or read the team's findings in a paper submitted to the journal PLOS One.
