Vice of the Year: Weed
Potheads are getting a makeover. The image of the sloppy dude who won't budge from his couch will be replaced by the "power pot woman." She does Ganja Yoga, dabbles in elevated edibles like weed-infused dark chocolate brittle with smoked almonds and crunchy toffee bits, has a high-end smoking accessory like this Ombre Pipe, and experiments with cannibis-infused beauty products.

She might even own her own dispensary or other smoking-related business. With recreational weed legal in eight states and Washington DC and medical marijuana legal in 28 states, female entrepreneurs are seizing the moment. Monica Khemsurov is one of them. She's the cofounder of Tetra, which sells well-designed smoking accessories. (Note: Tetra cannot promote its accessories for marijuana use due to federal law, but consumers can use their imaginations.)
Tetra launched in 2015 to positive response. Khemsurov says her customers were happy to find cool accessories that didn't have the outdated "smoker" connotations. "There are a lot of people out there who expect a certain level of quality and style from everything else in their lives, like fashion and home objects. It really was missing from smoking. We planted a stake." Since then, Khemsurov says, demand has grown; in addition to curating products from other designers, Tetra has now started producing its own line of products. The elegant Balance Pipe was its first. "Today our offering is less high-end art and more accessible. But as it's more accessible, the design level is still very high. "
Even if they aren't launching businesses, women can take advantage of the innovative products the booming industry has to offer. Or at least choose a relaxing hit of weed instead of a glass of wine as they wind down after a long day.
